The movie has strong images. I liked the whole atmosphere of the pictures. This is really a good work. What makes me doubt about the quality of the movie is its violence. Ok, it is a fight to survive of the native indians against the vikings, but it is to violent. Some more scenes about the daily living and maybe only a little bit more background infos would have been helpful for the quality of the whole movie. |

What a bad movie! There is a lame backstory even sometimes absurd. Tom Cruise (scientologist) again is the super heroe and he can walk away at the end of the movie with his great love. This is really dumb. Only one and a half stars for Philip Seymour and for some great action scenes. |

Die Brüder Dardenne zeigen einmal mehr ihr ganzes Können. Eindrucksvoll hier die weibl. Hauptdarstellerin, der man diese unfassbare Einsamkeit gut abnimmt. Leider ist das Ende vielleicht ein bisschen zu lang, als auch der Beginn mit kleinen Längen versehen, ansonsten herausragendes Kino. |

Wenn der Film nicht ein überlanges Ende, welches dann doch ein wenig kitschig gerät, hätte, dann wäre er perfekt. Elmar Wepper in der Rolle seines Lebens, wunderschöne Bilder und eine großartige Hannelore Elsner machen diesen Film sehenswert. |
