Ohh now this is one helluva movie! Eye cannot fully express just how much eye loved this movie in one review but eye'll try. This movie gripped me as soon as it began. That hovering over the city scene was a true work of cinematography. And the bank robbery that soon followed wasn't to shabby either. The following scene with the mob and Scarecrow meeting up had a nice and errie feel to it. This movie didn't feel like a comic book movie at all, it felt more like an excellent crime drama in my opinion. Eyev'e always been a fan of the Batman series but Christopher nolan brings a whole nother dimension to the series. The movie just delivers one great scene after another, there isn't a dull moment in the entire film. While the action won't blow you away this film still has a number of stunningly staged moments of action and violence. Contrary to what the critics say this movie really isn't that violent. If you'r a person like me who likes to read reviews for movies before watching them you should know what eye mean. The critics lable it as being the most violent PG-13 movie they have ever seen. Me as an audience member have seen way more violence on a number of other PG-13 movies. The Dark Knight only had two scenes were a bit of gore was present, the scene were Bruce is stitching himself up, and when Harvey is in a plastic cover after his face is burned in an explosion right after Rachel dies. If you think eye'm spoiling the movie for you tough look chum you should have already seen the movie. This brings me to my finale stage of the review if you haven't seen this movie you're a disgrace.
What can eye say this is one of the greatest pictures ever made. This film is chock full of spectacle and wonder. The score is just epic. It won all eleven of its Academy Award nominations a World Record! That alone should be enough to prove this movie is a masterpiece. Eye can happily say this is a moment of cinema history were the movie triumphs over the source material it is based on,(book series by J.R.R Tolken). Sorry to say the same isn't so for the Harry Potter series. watch this film or people will die... starting tonight. Eye'm a man of my word...
This is the best of the killer shark films without debate. It's actually quite sad that this is the best the genre can do. Eye mean this is a film from the 70's for crying out loud! The closest a shark film has come to matching this is Deep Blue Sea. Eye assume the main reason this film rocked was because it was directed by the one and only Steve Spielberg. You simply must take a dive into this wonderful world of the deep. And be afraid of going back into the water...TUM, TUM, TUM, TUM, TUM,TUM,TUM,TUM, you gotta love that theme!
The first and best of all the PIXAR made movies. No other PIXAR movie can match the sheer coolness of this film. After Finding Nemo eye began to find the PIXAR films rather dull talking cars, cooking rats, WALL*E? The movie has a simple concept talking toys and a great voice cast. The two highlights of the film are Tom Hanks as the voice of Woody the Cowboy, and Tim Allen as the voice of Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger. Eye well waste no time righting about the plot. If you haven't seen this film you stink! If you have seen it you know it has an undeniable charm that appeals to people of all ages. An animated classic.
Eye'm not sure exactly how Disney does it but they can craft the most cinematic animated movies that top all the other $#!& that Hollywood offers. This movie is really epic and moving. Eye remember watching this as a youngster it made me really sad when Simba's dad died. It's a bit hard to believe that this movie got away with out getting a PG rating at least, the violence and emotion gets fairly intense. In fact it tops most of the violence on most PG films, just look at Ice Age. Well eye guess for the most part back then you could get away with almost anything. Just look at the Indiana Jones series the first two were rated PG and they had extremly graphic violence, for example after Indy shots a man in the head blood starts dripping from his head sound kid friendly to you? Eye really recommend this to anyone who enjoys PIXAR's CG movies or for people who simply love good movies, you can't do much better then this.
This movie like the one before is amazing. Peter Jackson is a mastermind at this kind of thing. The world of this movie is very convincingly done. two thumbs and two toes up!
A claasic Disney animated movie. This review won't cover any plot as everyone should have already seen this epic sometime in their life. How to describe this movie? Cool, intriguing, charming, heartwarming, amazing, epic, funny, classic, entertaining? The characters are very memorable especially the Genie, that guy is so cool he often impersonates other film characters such as The Terminator, Hades, and a load of other well known movie and stereotypes. A truly unique animated film.
This is easily the best of all four of the Indiana Jones films. The effects are amazing considering it's a film from 1989. The sense of adventure in the movie is top-notch. Harrison Ford crafts a believable hero that is all to rare in cinema. Dr. Jones is one badass character, he destroys a tank buy lodging a rock into a tanks mortar gun while riding on horseback that combination automatically equals awsome. This is one of those rare adventure movies that just gripps you until the end credits start to roll this is one Steven Spielberg film not to be missed!
One of the greatest films of it's kind the most memorable monster movie since JAWS and that was from 1975! The monster itself is impressive and is among the more realistic looking CG creatures from this genre of film. In my opinion the creature looks like the offspring of a giant fish and mbwun the creature from the movie The Relic,(known as the Kothaga in the film). This movie proves that B style movies can be better than the more traditional type of films. Eye love this movie, an American remake is said to be in the wirks so there's that to look forward to!
This film is considerd by many to be the only other killer animal movie up to par with JAWS. Some even consider it more so. Eye on the other hand have to give it the honor being slightly less splendid than JAWS. The storly revolves around the urban myth that a pet alligator flushed down the toilet can thrive and live in the sewars. The twist here is that it has been feeding off of discarded lab dogs full of growth horomones. And natuturally this being a B movie the alligator grows to enormous proportions. The town starts to notice something is wrong when sewar workers go missing and when body parts start poping up at sewage treatment plants. The town tries to decide on what to do even though they don't have a full idea on what is causing the carnage. And that folks is what is what the major plot of the movie is eye won't go into any spoilers here so check this out if you want to see a JAWS like film or if you'r like me see a good killer gator flick, you will not be disapointed just ignore the sequel it's painful.
The best war film imaginable! If anybody knows of a better war film please tell me and eye will make a quick trip to Blockbuster and see if it delivers. This film directed by Spielberg really captures the real terror of war with all the carnage intact. Yes this film is graphic, but the gore is necessary to truly capture the sense of war. The central cast is good the highlights being Tom Hanks as Captain John H. Miller, and the short but sweet apperance of Vin Diseal as Private Adrian Caparzo. The film is a bit long but eye barley noticed because every scene has meaning. Run don't walk to the nearest Blockbuster to check this out if youv'e never seen it before,(it's preferable that you drive there of course).
Before eye saw this movie eye didn't have much interest in what was happening in the world, but this filmed changed that forever. This idi amin guy seemed pleasent at first and the unexpected twist at the end shocked me in so many ways. My prayers go to all the families who losted their loved ones during this mans reign.
While this film comes nowhere near capturing the charm of the original, though it is still among the best of PIXARS movies. In this film Woody is stolen by a greedy toy collecter and it's up to Buzz Lightyear and friends to rescue him. What ensues is a whacky film which just doesn't quite capture the magic of the first film. And not to mention the other side of the film invoving Woody and the new toys he meets at Al his kidnapper's apartment. They explain to him that they need him to finally go out of storage and be put in a musuem. At first Woody is shocked, but soon he is seduced by The Prospector into believing that being in a musuem is the best honor there is as the Prospector tells him that Woody's owner Andy won't keep him forever and will eventually discard him. As you can imagine like it's predecessor the movie ties in thematic themes such as abandonment and neglict into the story. Do yourself a favor and check out this entertaining PIXAR film it is entertainment people of all ages. "There's a snake in my boot!" One of the funny little lines from the movie...
While this sequel doesn't quite have the bite of the original it still holds it's own territory. The main thing that seperates this from the original is that it's not even directed by Spielberg. But no need to panic the new director does a respectable job of not turning JAWS into a floating corpse. Unlike Spielberg's fight method of don't show the shark Jeannot Szwark does the contrary show the shark. This dubbs for a new feel to the whole film. While it's awsome to have the shark attack people in more in you'r face moments it just doesn't have the tension that the first film did so well at. The plot which revolves around another shark plowing the waters around Richard Dreyfuss home town. The whole plot just isn't as powerful as it was in the first film. Eye mean it makes the locals look like idiots when they don't even believe Richard when he shows the mayor and other city people a photo that clearly shows a shark. All in all the film still delivers a good time, and another reason not to go in the water. Statistically speaking though you are more likely to die from falling down the stairs than by shark attack.
While this sequel to the magnificant original doesn't have the scope of it's predecessor it is still among the best animated features released. The story of this film picks off right after the last one left off making for a direct sequel like structure. Unlike the last film being almost exclusively from the point of view of Simba this film is told through multiple points of view most notibley it's extra focus on the Outsider's pride through the eye's of Simbas daughter's friend Kovu. The main plot of the film is that the outsiders are planning to take back the prodelands away from Simba by having Kovu join Simba's pride and getting him to be his friend so he can take him to a secluded area were he can be ambushed. Turns out that Kovu actually really is a good guy and decides to help Simba. But Simba isn't going to return the kindness he has Kovu exiled from the Pridelands and naturally Kiara runs off with Kovu since she's developed a strong liking of him.
Soon after they realize that their respective Prides have gone to all out Lion war and rush on back to the Prideland's in hopes of stopping the fighting. This film is a charmer filled with all the memorable characters from the original Timon and pumba are especially welcome with their smart little antics. Check out this film if you have never done so it provides fun for people of all ages.
This is among the best of any zombie like films eyev'e ever seen! The tension is top notch teeth chattering. Like 28 Days Later everytime there is a zombie attack sequeunce the action changes to a fast and frantic handheld style. Like Cloverfield these instances may make certain people quizzy and nasouse. the film starts out with a group of survivors taking refuge in an isolated house when a panicking boy on the run from the infected arrives at there door pounding for entrance the survivors have no choice but to let him in. Ensueing soon afterwards is the first slaughter sequence and man is it intense with all the infected humans ripping apart the house and eating the fleeing survivors. This film isn't for everyone of course only for those who can stomach the carnage that this movie is chock-full of. This movie also ties in to themes of terrorism that we are facing now in present times. How? Eye don't want to get into detail on that in this review. Later we are introduced to a safe zone set up by the U.S. Army were the man who was forced to leave his wife behind in the mentioned sequence in my review is reunited with his kids. A while later his wife is found and examined by the soldiers and it's confirmed that she is infact infected but for some reason imune to the effects. The first response by the soldiers is that they should exterminate and cremate the host. But a female soldier smartly reacts by saying they should keep her alive and study her she may hold the key for a cure to the RAGE virus. The decision is settled and they seal the woman in quarantine. Her husband who happens to have a keycard that accesses all doors in the base dumbly goes to her and kisses her, this exposes him to the RAGE virus and he swifly becomes infected and crazed killing his wife and naturally infecting the other people taking refuge in the safezone. When it becomes all but impossible to make out the infected from the refugees the soldiers go into code red and have no choice but to shoot anything that moves in order to contain the virus. It's heartbreaking when you see the soldiers eliminating both the infected and the poor refugees. As for the man's kids well technically they are now orphans as there mother is dead and there dad is a crazed canibal. But never fear the kids are befriended by the same female soldier who offered the suggestion on researching the childrens infected mother. The newly befriended group soon teamup with tagalongs on their journey to escape the infected zone. After teaming up with yet another soldier the group recieves news that the whole area is going to be nuked. As they escape and take refuge in a sewar like area they lose there elderly woman member who didn't back far enogh into the shelter and was instantly vaporized by the flames of the nuclear bombing. After this incredible moment the film goes into a standard zombie flick mode losing a bit of steam but still remaining entertaining. This film is well worth checking out, not to be missed.
This is one good horror film! Before eye go into whats so refreshing about the movie first eye'm going to tell you what you won't find, standard pretty boy or hottie girl, bad acting, cheesey effects, and laughable moments,(well there may be laughable moments for certain people). Here is what you well find though, realistic tension, cool creatures, for the most part real characters, a creepy religious freak, and a twisted conclusion to the movie. If only horror movies of this caliber were to be released more often. Unfortunitly eye read the short story by Stephen King so the movie wasn't as scarey as it wouldv'e of been were eye not to know what would happen in the movie. For those who haven't read the short story, man you're in for a treat. For all horror fans this is a must see!
This is the most underrated film eye have ever layed eyes on! You just have to hate movie critics every now and then. Seriously people how can you dish dirt on this great film? This is easily the best of the classic horror movie remakes by Platnum Dunes. Haven't seen the original so eye can't compare this version to that one right now. Yes the movie does follow the standard horror movie formula of cast a pretty boy and hottie girl and place them in a distressing situation. But come on who ever heard of smart party going college kids? And now about the killer he seems fairly friendly at first and the Indiana Jones like look of his character adds to that but when he shows his true colors he becomes an evil Indiana Jones look-alike the end result is chilling. The killer is played by Sean Bean,(haa his last name is bean and his first name rymes with bean) who totally deserved an Oscar nomination for his shocking performance, in my opinion he played a very screwed up and scarey character miles more disturbing than Heath Ledger's take for the Joker character in The Dark Knight,(no offense to him though r.i.p. Ledger). John Ryder is given a ride early on by the young couple and soon attempts to kill them as they are driving down a lonely stretch of highway. In a brief struggle he is knocked out of the car and is left for dead on the side of the raod. They couldn't be far from wrong about him being not being dead. This film has some of the most tension packed scenes of any slasher film ever made. The jailhouse scene in particular is stunningly creepy. And one scene in particular involving an entire squad of police cars plus the fleeing couple and the pursueing killer is the most amazing scene you will ever see in any film of this kind. Now mind you people the only reson i'm giving this high score is because of Sean Bean's mysterious portrayal of a twisted psychotic killer, and because of the amazing action scenes that will have you saying "Wow eyev'e never seen that before!" If it wern't for Sean and the action this movie would have likely ended up in my list of worst movies of all time list. The Hitcher is undoubtfully the greatest slasher film ever made, even if you don't agree you have to admit it's better than the trash that this genre of film ussually offers.
This was the best Batman movie ever when it was released back in 2005 now it is overshadowed by the far superior sequel. Though the whole switching of Katie holmes to Maggie really made the next film feel more like an individual movie seperate from this one. In this reimagining of Batman Mr. Nolan crafts an entertaining and emotional prolougue on Bruce Waynes journey to get over his family's death and become the BATMAN. While most people seeking an action packed film well likely be agitated about the early minutes of the film, more mature movie goers will find the early minutes quite gripping.
This is the best instalment in the jurrassic park trilogy if anybody thinks otherwise eye would like to here from you. If you say Jurrassic Park 3 is better than this you are dead wrong! That was the worst entry in the franchise the director joe Johnson literaly killed the Jurrassic Park franchise. Thinks don't look good for the rumored sequel. Eye have really got to learn to compose myself. This movie was amazing the scenes close to the end of the movie were the T-rex rampages through San Diego is one of the greatest moments in cinema. Spielberg once again shows us he is the greatest director alive. This sequel easily trampled the previous entry and pooped on it just to make sure it was humiliated. Unfortunately in a paradox of events the first movie grossed a truck load more than this film. Shot even Godzilla earned more than this. What the haysack? If you liked Jurrassic Park and haven't seen this beauty of a film shame on you...
Beats the original by a long shot. Not even the marginally good threequel that disapointed in so many ways. Jhonny Depp returns along with the rest of the cast in this charming adventure film featuring the coolest Davy Jones Bloke brought to life by the amazing CG team at ILM. This film may be considered a little to intense for the films but it does a job of maintaing a good balance with it's frequent comic relief. A must for fans of the original and anybody else really you can't hate this movie, or can you?
You can't go wrong with Will Smith he's the man! This as a movie about a man living in solitude after a miracle cure for cancer actually turns out to be worse than the disease it treats. The new virus kills off the majority of civilization while leaving a small of percentage of imune humans to populate a world were the rest of the living beings and animals are ferocious zombi/vampire like creatures. All that makes for one cool flick. The one thing eye can't quite grasp is the decision to have the creatures being CG. Eye mean sure they can do acrobatic feats that regular humans can't do but yet the end result is a bit cheesey. As a matter of fact the film is a lot more teeth chatteringly scarey when you don't see the creatures ala the scene were Samantha Robert Nevile's K-9 companion goes into a dark warehouse chasing after a deer. But after that initial fight scene the rest of the film goes into a more action oriented state were it sadly loses most of the fear factor. And about the action eye can't help but feel that it was inspired by books with similar themes to this movie. Example: the scene with the two helicopters crashing into each other seems straight out of Max Brook's World War Z,(also an upcoming movie can't wait!!!), and the scene were Robert blows up these C-4 rigged cars is straight out of Stephen King's Cell even the after effect is the same in the movie the wall were they are standing behind implodes in. But thats not a bad thing in fact eyev'e always wanted to have them incorporated in a film like this. But the end result makes them feel unoriginal. But hay most people don't even like reading like eye so for them it was like, "whoa eyev'e never seen that before!". Conclusion this is a fantastic thriller that adds to will Smith's coolness.
This is one instance were it's ok to judge a movie by it's cover. This is easily the best shark film that isn't JAWS. While eye found a bit of the elements weird and unanswered. Just how the hell did a Mako shark get so huge? That thing must have been at least 40 feet long! But besides that gripe and other scientific errors it was a really enjoyable film. Samule Jackson died a very sudden and random death that equals awsome! Give this a try if you'r tired of JAW 3 and JAWS:THE REVENGE.
This is one of my favorite Tim Burton films. In this reimagining of the classic film Burton blends in his imagination to give us a virtual tour of a world were ape is the dominant species. The story revolves around a man who embarks on a mission that was originally intended for a trained space monkey, but he knows that you shouldn't send a monkey to do a man's job. And so the man is zooming htrough space and he happens to go right into a magnitic storm field and apparently has the power to alter time and jam electronic equipment. And in the insueing accident the man's space pod crashes in an alternate version of Earth ruled entirey by primeapes. As soon as he steps out of the pod we are treated to a little sequence were apes are rounding up humans like vermin and puting them in cages for storage. The first time you here one of the apes voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan talk is a classic moment in my opinion,"get you'r hands off of me, you damn dirty human!" You just gotta love that line. The ape make up is truley amazing the ape characters almost look like the ones you can go see at the zoo but with obvious alterations such as size and hight and the way they walk. While Burtons remake isn't up to the caliber of the original it still is one of the best films that came out in 2001. Jurrassic Park III? Oh goodness that was one of the biggest disapointments of the year. Unlike the original were the movie was mostly about the apes, this movie adds more focus on the humans, as you can imagine this makes for mixed results but don't worry it actually works well for the most part. Now eye won't dwell into the story much you have to find that out for yourself. And eye may add for those who own the 2 disc Special Edition be sure and give the commentary by director Tim Burton a listen he's an intersting speaker. In the commentary he talks about how he has a fear oc chimps and how they could rip you'r jaw in two if they wanted to. Hah eye never knew Burton had a phobia of primeapes. And if you ever wanted to here Tim Burton say,"what the F#@! now is you'r chance. Bottom line a Planet of the Apes is a smart movie filled with spectacle and wonder.
This is my favorite of all the Godzilla movies. Though for some reason others don't agree with me. A lot of hardcore fans complain that the reimagined design for the American Godzilla just wasn't cool. Did anyone complain about them redesigning the Joker character in The Dark Knight? This film had groundbreaking special effects quite literally in the movie were New York was constantly breaking apart under Godzillas rampage. The major thing that really broghtdown this awsome film was the actors they just seemed straight out of a movie like American Pie or something, even the military characters didn't feel entirly convincing. What this film really needed was some serious actors to go with the dark atmosphere of the movie. Honestly this movie had such a gorgeous dark and gritty look to it all but absent in all the other Godzilla films. And do you wan't to know something funny? Before anybody knew what the Cloverfield monster was going to be eye was convinced it was going to be this version of Godzilla. Eye mean the promoting absolutely screamed Godzilla, the movie poster depicting three claw marks on the decapitated Statue Of Liberty, a similar growl in the trailers, and a short clip of the movie posted on the web formated to move in slow motion clearly showed the form of the American Godzilla! But sadly the Cloverfield monster ended up being a big letdown. Now back to this movie ohh man does this movie have destruction and chaos! The ending were Godzilla died was actually quite sad similare to the King Kong ending except on a Brooklyn Bridge not the Empire State Building and minus the weeping woman. At the very end the movie treats us to a view of a surving Godzilla egg hatching and it roaring as the end credits begin to roll. Tragically the only sequel to this movie was a boring cartoon TV series that no longer airs. Blast eye so wanted there to be a serious sequel to this but ohh well eye just have to live with the fact that there is almost a zero chance of it happening after all it's been over ten years already since this movie came out and still no announcement that there is even a planned sequel. My word to the reader if you enjoyed The Day After Tomorrow or Independance Day you'll most likely enjoy this.
The start of a great movie series know doubt about that. when this movie was first anounced people were like, "Are you freakin serious you'r actually going to make a movie about an amusement ride?" The end result surprised everyone and the movie became a surprise sleeper hit. If you liked this see the sequel which you most likely have.
This film gives the zombie genre a complete makeover as they are now given the ability to run,(though it was stolen from the Gamecube remake of the original Resident Evil). So the basic plot of the film is that these lab monkeys are infected with a new disease dubbed RAGE. And when two animal rights people break into the compound to free them one of them becomes infected and instantly becomes a canibalistic raging beast who attacks and infects everyone else. Eventually the whole country is infected. The film then goes forward in time and introduces a man who wakes up in a hospital and discovers that it's deserted baffled about were everyone is he walks out of the hospital and wanders into a deserted post apocalyptic city. Unlike the first film which was about people who already knew the harsh environment this film is about a man who has no clue what he has gone into. The first time he encounters the infected he's like, "Hay sir are you ok"? to a freakin bloody limping moaning priest. Can't the guy put two and two together? Eye mean he just saw the empty streets and everyting shouldn't that be enough to tell him something is wrong? He finally gets the picture when a whole horde of raged mainiacs comes charging at him. He is saved by a group of survivors in just the nick of time and he befriends them and joins them throughout the story. Many will die so don't get to attached to the characters. This is one of the best zombie like flicks though it is overshadowed by the excellent sequel at least in my opinion some people prefer this installment over 28 Weeks Later, go figure.
Finally a good Resident Evil movie! Eye'm a big fan of the video game series and can happily say this film was pretty good. Unlike the last two films this one ain't half bad. The zombie effects are decent the lead actors are ok even the one liners are smart. Just ignore the bad guys they have terrible dialog. the wasteland of a world that the movie takes place is pretty convincing. The opening scene is pretty sweet but the first action sequence is crap but don't let that fool you the rest of the movie delivers. The one thing that was really weird about this movie is that the main character Alice somehow develops psychic powers. There were no psychic powers involved in the video games just why exactly they were put in to this movie is beyond me. The last battle in the movie consists mainly of a psychic shoving contest between Alice and a huge mutant it looks like something out of an anime show really laughable. This movie was supposed to be the conclusion of the Resident Evil movies. Yeah right, the ending clearly sets up a sequel. If youare a fan of the video game series, a fan of disaster films, like zombie films, or just want to see Las Vegas in ruins give this a try.
This movie delivers! At least eye think it does it has some pretty intense scenes of action which make more sense than Michael Bay's random destruction so for that eye give it a thumb and toe up. The fist fights also are well done better than the crap they have in The Bourne Ultimatium. The movie is fairly appropriate for most viewers not to much swearing or uncalled for moments of you know. A must see for action freaks and won't disapoint the casual movie goer looking for quick entertainment.
It's been too long since we have been treated with a good werewolf flick. Eye loved this movie, the creature effects were good even with the movies low made for TV budget. It's incredible what can be done with such a limited amount of resources if you just give it some dedication. What seperates this from other creature feature like flicks? Quailty, ohh does this film have the most disturbing attck sequences and gore you'll ever see out of a Sci-Fi film. While i'm not sure that the plot will make sense to most people but it works well enough for me. A group of young soldiers out training in the wilderness stumble upon the hunting grounds of a pack of vicous werewolfs. Were did the werewolfs come from? Hint, don't ask. If you love horror or have simply been drooling for a good werewolf flick look no further and give this a sniff!
What can eye say? This is one of Michael Bay's better films. When eye was watching the movie eye was like what the flying cow? Eye knew something was wrong ussually Mr. Bay starts out his movies with big explosions and gunfire. Yet this movie starts out with a bizare dream sequence. And then tries to go for a Sci-Fi drama. For a minute eye thought there was a copy error for this film. They mustv'e over written it with another movie eye thought. But as the movie progressed eye realized this wasn't so. The second hour of the film is dedicated soley to stuff going boom. While a lot of the carnage made absolutely no sebse it was still exciting. Believe or most of the crashes on the highway scene were done practically. In layman's terms that means all those flipped over trucks and cars wern't CGI. In fact if you listen to DVD commentary like me you'll here Michael Bay say that he was nearly killed while filming that scene. Yes you heard me right, he could have been killed. Just wanted to let everybody know that. Intercutting between all the action are little sigments were Michael Bay tries to add these little drama scenes that just aren't all that dramatic. Like really why does this guy always have to add in a cheesey love story to all his movies? And about the ending it was overy extended and quite dull, but never the less effective. Bottom line this movie is a good popcorn flick. But what the hell do they mean by the film has an all star cast? The stars eye saw were Sean Bean and Michael Clarke Duncan who had disapointing performances in this film!
Looks like Gustave has a bit of competion with the recent hurricane Gustave. So this is the first ever killer crocodile flick to make to the big screen aye? Crickey mate they put this in theaters but they only put the far supior Rogue in a select number of special cinemas? Well not that this movie was bad, because it isn't. Me being the biggest crocodile lover eye have to admit this is the best crocodile flick eyev'e seen since Alligator,(which technically wasn't a crocodile) this film ventures far away from the standard horror formula of pretty boy and hottie girl so eye respect this movie more. The film delivers a good number of scares but most are the pop goes the weasle kind of moments were it's a cheap gotcha scare. Most people complain that the CG crocodile is fake looking but eye found it pretty good especially the moment when it is resting in a river bed concealed by those tall plantlike things that often grow around water. Do you want to know something really cheesey though? The crocodile in this movie actually runs after it's prey! Yes you did in fact read this right, the crocodile runs 28 Weeks Later style it's freakin crazy seeing a twentysomething foot long crocodile running after a person. The film doesn't just feature a man-eating crocdile though it actually tries to incorporate Hotel Rwanda like moments. Bottom line this movie is one of the best killer crocodile films out there definitley give it a try. If youv'e already seen the movie then take my movie quiz on it.
Eyev'e said it before and eye'll say it again eye just love films that involve a giant crocodile killing people. But it infuriates me that there are technically only two excellent ones Alligator, and Rogue. The third best being Primeval and this this movie landing down in fourth place. This movie delivered a good deal of scares mostly due to it's JAWS style of tension during the early minutes of the movie. But once the movie kicks in to it's CG crocodile things start to boil down to standard horror flick catagory. The only good scene with the CG crocodile is when it lunges out of the water and snatches a grizzly bear in it's jaws pure genius! The rest of the attacks fall into above average considering all the other similar movies with very cheap deaths. The actors in this movie are pretty good and they deliver a good number of laughs as well. If you love killer croc flicks this should be right up you'r alley. Just don't give the sequel a look it's painful. Check out my list of the worst movies of all time for the full scoop on the latter.
Eye had really high expectations for this movie but it all turned out to be just hype. The monster was a complete letdown, mostly because eye was really hoping it would be Zilla,(American version of Godzilla). Read my Godzilla review to see what eye mean. Eye wasn't the only one disapointed about the monster at the screening eye attended people actuall walked out of the theater as soon as the monster made it's initial appearance some even mutterd %@$!ing lame @$$ monster the children at the screening learned some new words that day. Other people left simply because the hand held style that the movie was shot in made them nacouse. While eye didn't mind the hand held style the rest of the movie just didn't feel fresh to me. The movie had quite a number of laughable moments. Take the scene were the Statue Of Liberty head crashes onto a road and this guy screams,"Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh God!" Oh my God eye wish eye was deaf! And throughout the movie you here the cast saying a bunch of random one liners and swears. Don't get me wrong this isn't a bad film it just isn't as good as it was trying to be. As most should know this movie was supposes to do for 9/11 what Gojira did for the Hiroshima bombing. The movie even has an errie scene with paper and ash falling from above straight out of 9/11. At trying to be more than just an entertaining summer movie Cloverfield fails.
With every entry in the series Spielbergs masterpiece JAWS gets a real beating. The latest in being JAWS 3 is barley between the line of entertaining and bad. The premise of the movie is that a baby shark swims into Sea World and dies, and so soon comes mother JAWS to seemingly get revenge on it's death. Ok first of all this concept is scientificly hillarious! Sharks don't bond with their young in fact they don't even give a damn about them, they just swim off and leave them to their fate. besides the idioic concept the movie really isn't that bad, in fact it has quite a bit of tension to it. Just think a giant shark enters Sea World and terrorizes it. what would have made this film four stars is if they had the shark eat a loveable orca during a Sea World event. Shamefully this never happens. If you'r a JAWS fan don't hesitate to check this out!
This film dwells into the darkside of humanity telling the story of the invisible boundaries that seperate the ignorant people of the world. Unlike horror films which show fictional terror and whatnot this film disturbs in ways you never imagined. Think children shouldn't be put in dangerous situations in films? Well this movie has a scene that will shock even the people that don't particularily like children. The film features an all star cast of people eye don't care about which includes the not star Chris(LudaChris) the stupid hip-hop artist and a bunch of other more talented people. Seriously Chris being in this movie deducted one entire star from the score. Apart from a lame singer, the movie doesn't have a very good opening. But once it gets started toward the middle and end it really pumps up becoming emotionaly intense introducing twists such as a seemingly evil person becoming a truly understanding good person, and seemingly good characters becoming lost and corrupt. Certain parts of this film are just so touching and evil it really gets you thinking about what kind of world we live in. Eye don't know why the director tried to incorporate such harsh dark humor it just isn't nowhere near being humorous, but eye guess he was trying to elevate about what people say and do in the real world. Check this film out if you are comfortable with it's subject matter, racism being the primary.
This film shows that not only is Stephen King a good author but also a hell of a good director. Though it's strange that King goes with a more comedic tone like that of Shaun of The Dead rather than his usual macabre feel that he has in his books. But that's not necessarly a problem, on the contrary it makes this film very entertaining. Let me break down the plot for you people, a mysteriuous comit enters Earth atmosphere and causes the worlds machinery to take on a mind on their own and go on a twisted metal killing spree of epic proportions. The effects in this movie range from ohh my God that was so cheesey it's hysterical to ohh s**t eye can't believe that was possible to do in 1986! But eye feel that eye must warn you clownaphobics there is one truck in particular that will make you squirm. This film makes me wish that Stephen king would direct more films because a number of his books just don't get the movie treatment they deserve. Bottom line this is a gut-busting good movie.
Children of Men is a hauntingly errie thriller. The plot revolves around getting the only pregnant woman into this safe zone place. The movie grips you from the start, and then it thrills you with an all too real atmosphere of a world gone aray. The cast of the movie is great, espically with the always excellent Michael Caine. But, darn it really chilled me to see one of my favorite actors get brutally executed. If you haven't seen this fantastic thriller you don't know what you're missing!
Unleashed is a rousing martial arts film with a surprisingly touching story. The film revolves around Danny the poor soul who has been brain washed and trained to be the ultimate killing machine. throughout the earlier scenes in the movie Danny is presented as a speechless ruthless son-of a gun, along with a couple of scenes that foreshadows an event later on that turns the movie into a truly dramatic tale of redemption.
Morgan Freeman of course gives a believeable performance as a blind piano tuner who develops a close relationship with Danny after his master apperantly dies. Jet Li does an amzing job as Danny, actually the entire cast does a fantastic job of breathing life into the movie. And about the fight sequences man-o-man are they wicked! This is a must see for movie for not only for fans of Jet Li or martial arts films, but for movie lovers as a whole.
