I recommend you see...the World Cup in Auteurs is killing me,haha, but i'm exploring vast horizons for sure...
so i leave you with Up,a not-so-common comic flick and that was why its charm is one of a kind,nevertheless....it's definitely not one of Pixar's masterpieces.....
Up
by DimitrisI wonder whether Pixar wanted to embrace old age or express its sentiment towards the longing for youth.Beats me,Up is a jolly portrait of 2 largely different personalities, with the same passion for journeys beyond imagination.Spot-on for Pixar indeed yet it left me with an unsatisfactory opinion in my head.Inside jokes aren't as they used to be and the whole sub-plots were pretty inferior to what Docter and co. did in Monsterers Inc.The dogs are cult animations though!!!

I recommend you see...Hey, this might be something for your lazy sunday.
Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked)
by TheA fantastic cast, but unfortunately it falls pretty flat.
Even with the help of great acting, this fails to bind you to the story because Richard Curtis jumps over much that would have nice to see and the characters just becomes 2-D.
It's like he intentionally builds up to much that he then can't handle. Resulting in a feeling like, "and then?".
And yes, there are to many characters for you to concentrate on just one.
I'll give it an "OK", and leave it at that.posted 139 days ago -
I recommend you see...For those of you who have sent messages to me, I will get back to you as soon as poss, a little unwell and resting up, back soon:)
In the Name of the Father
by LadyThe tragic and touching tale of the wrongly imprisioned Guilford Four, plus others, is brought to life by Director Jim Sheridan, with a first class cast, led strongly by Daniel Day-Lewis and Pete Postlewaite.
This true story is a harrowing watch of corruption and cover ups and delivers a strong, powerful storyline.posted 140 days ago -

Fläskfarmen
by TheFläskfarmen or "The Pork Farm" is a forgotten swedish pearl about some alcoholics that decides that the life in an asylum is grander than their current ones.

Gitarrmongot (The Guitar Mongoloid)
by TheI had hoped for a real documentary, but sadly it's just a pseudo-documentary..
Real life people portraying themselves(?)...
It's odd I tell you and a real pain to watch from time to time too.
Still it has it's amusing parts.
Definitely not something for everybody.posted 141 days ago -
I recommend you see...Hey, you SHOULD really see this!
Grey Gardens
by TheCome see the breakdown of two Park Avenue débutantes.
From riches to rags, Big and Little Edie Bouvier are marvelously portrayed by Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore.
No mather if you see the original 70's documentary before or after, this is spot on.
Drew have grown into a fantastic actress and I hope to see her in more parts like this one instead of crap like Charlie's Angels.
No foolin', this is a good f'in' movie.posted 141 days ago -
I recommend you see...operatic images + politics + bonehead "suits" + l'amour + bohemia + corruption = one of the best movies ever made...
Terra em Transe (Anguished Land)(Land Entranced)
by DimitrisRocha the anarchist...well,partially.The Autran-Lewgoy-Filho trio of compulsive reactions is more than enough for the disbelievers to continue watching an operatic motion picture way ahead of its time.Sure,it's a flashback but what a flashback that was!!!

Eagle Eye
by Mikeyou like super-paranoid action thrillers with a twist - you're gonna love this film. I did. Fast paced, characterful and charismatic this beauty is about as close to Predictive Programming as you'll get.

I recommend you see...Hey, you should really NOT see this atrocity!
The Forgotten Ones
by TheBullshit movie about two couples and their friend on a sailing trip somewhere, can't remember and really don't care either.
They are shipwrecked and stranded on an island inhabited by some Uruk-hai looking beasts.
The movie is basically just clichés and wotrhless music to make you want to flee your own skin.
After watching this movie I got this sudden urge to ram my head in a brick wall or throwing myself in speeding traffic. When the temptations had finally cooled down, the hate for the people involved with this piece of shit still remained. Jorg Ihle and his whole posey should be killed over and over untill they die the worst death imaginable. At the moment I can't think of a suiting death, so lets just force them to see Killer Klows from Kansas on Krack, Clockwork Orange-style!!posted 149 days ago -
I recommend you see...A story that seems to get better each time I watch it.
The Departed
by LadyA complicated web of deceipt of corruption, violence crafted with twists and turns throughout.
Many have chosen the original Chinese version of the story ?Infernal Affairs? to be the best version and usually in most cases I believe the original to be the best, but have to say ?The Departed? marginally scores better with me and is a very worthy Scorsese masterpiece.
Probably the best Hollywood gangster movie since Goodfellas, with a gifted all star cast, with a superb performance by Jack Nicholson and great performances by both Dicaprio and Damon.
With greatly fitting music throughout, the right amount of humour and fantastic plot ? it?s a Hollywood must see.posted 149 days ago -

Eastern Promises
by LadyA gangster movie with a difference, it?s subtle, non-flashy, yet it includes all the vital ingredients and perfection of a top-notch Organised Crime film.
Viggo Mortensen was brilliant in this role, the super-cool Russian ?driver? for the son of a crime family, is slick, smart and undeniably cold. I?ve never really been blown away by Mortensen?s talents, but this role for me, showed that he can deliver an impressive performance. Cassel as always was great (and a little trivia here) took just a few weeks to learn conversational Russian for this role.
The storyline is fairly simplistic and not too ambitious as far as films in this genre usually go, yet the result is a new angle with a big impact.
This is my second viewing of this film and I was just as impressed second time around.posted 149 days ago -

Blood Sucking Freaks (Bloodsucking Freaks)
by TheI'd say that this is Troma's version of the 1970 horror-film "The Wizard of Gore".
Though this one is better than The wizard of Gore, it doesn't make it good.
A pathetic script, awful actors and lame effects should give this a very low rating, but the whole spectlacle is actually funny to watch.
The perverted porno dwarf Luis De Jesus was one funny little fucker.
Why did they rename it?
The Incredible Torture Show was a far more superior title.
Most of you will most likely not like it, but a few will.posted 152 days ago -
I recommend you see...great shit!!i mean it with every ounce this word contains...
so Michael Snow is shallow for some, pretentious for many and unwatchable for 95% of the magnum populus...
so what?the guy is not trying to ask for money or anything,he's doing what he fuckin' wants...
i know this is a weird recommendation for a film that it's only one zooming shot (and i won't reveal much because you'll all be annoyed except Bradski,haha),yet..
i specifically chose an unknown suggestion since it's been a year that am on the Flixster community and i must say...i'll stick u[ around here for a while longer :)
here is the link and please don't beat the crap out of me after you finish watching it :P

I recommend you see...Odd but brilliant in a distinctly Japanese way!
Battle Royale (Batoru Rowaiaru)
by xGaryA Japan increasingly concerned with spiralling urban violence makes an example of troublesome teens by stranding them on a desert island with the sole purpose of making them kill each other off until just one remains. Kinji Fukasaku's magnificently tasteless satire on reactionary politics could be considered the logical conclusion of reality TV. The concept is a kind of cross between The Running Man and Lord Of The Flies. All the usual High School shenanigans are involved, but the introduction of lethal weapons throws the cliques, crushes and rivalries into a whole new light! The young cast are all great and Fukusaku was a veteran of Japanese Yakuza films and therefore a dab hand at stylized violence; the unrelenting drama and action of a type of slasher film where EVERYONE is the killer means it's virtually impossible to get bored! The sentiment can get a little heavy handed in places but Takeshi Kitano's surreal and sardonic host pops up at strategic intervals to routinely steal the show and stop the schmaltz before it goes too far. Certainly not as profound as it thinks it is, but it's a wonderfully entertaining and unique film that's destined to become a cult classic. Just avoid the dismal sequel (completed by his son after Fukusaku's death) like the plague.

God Told Me To
by TheNot the movie I ad expected, but that doesn't mather. This was a joy to watch and Tony Lo Bianco does a great portrait of the officer hunting down the truth to the killings. As I sad earlier, this was not the movie I had expected. So prepare for some surprises. My rating would have been higher if the sound, light and some of the suporting actors were replaced.
All in all it was definitely watchable.posted 155 days ago -

Sukiyaki Western Django
by TheTakashi Miike's adaption of Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo is nothing less than awesome.
If you want to see Quentin Tarantino once again prove that he is a lousy actor, this is for you. On the other hand, he is the only downside to this film.
The visual treats in this film are many. The set is fan-fucking-tastic and the score is ace. The best part though is that they are speaking jap-english!!
-Leally? You might ask yourself.

I recommend you see...i hope i'll recommend more stuff in the near future,my previous suggestion was more or so a hyper-dose of myself recently...
my casual research with the site The Auteurs has led me to become a basic member over there, which means that after creating a World Cup of Cinema will lead to my less than usual time around here :)
i urge however a lot of you to take part in the film-watching of Auteurs, cinema is cinema and nothing changes...
as for Fanny....i think she's terribly underrated...the girl i mean,hehe.
Flixsterman aka Randy has the best review of the film...but...
WATCH THE 5-HOUR VERSION,WHICH IS THE BEST!
Fanny och Alexander (Fanny and Alexander)
by DimitrisThe swan song of Bergman is definitely a mash-up of his previous extraordinary metaphysical endorsements,still....the epic fragrance is as churning as the Ekdahl family's warm (yet boiling) edifice.
A panoramic spectacle of gigantic proportions, involving phantoms of the past, sexual arousals and arguably, mystical overtones...where the arts of novel and theater are the links of this (primarily) TV version and subsequently a theatrical edition with necessary cuts.
All that remains is silence, either that of the outland or of the earthlings.posted 157 days ago
