A semi-autobiographical story about an 11 year old boy growing up in a Japanese internment camp for 3 years during WWII, Empire of the Sun is stunning, and one of director Steven Spielberg's most brilliant cinematic masterpieces. Christian Bale is incredible - this was definitely the best-played role of his career to date. John Malkovich and Miranda Richardson give compelling performances as the supporting cast.

Into the Wild is based on a true story and the bestselling book by Jon Krakauer. After graduating from Emory University in 1992, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch) abandons his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life. Into the Wild is brilliantly captivating, and one of the most heart-wrenching and thought-provoking independent films I've seen in a long time. Emile Hirsch wickedly molds Christopher McCandless, aka 'Alexander Supertramp,' into the most unlikely of heroes. A truly remarkable film.

Set in Baltimore during the 1960s dance TV craze, a zaftig high school hair-hopper, Tracy Turnblad, graduates from outsider to celebrity trendsetter and along the way she stars on "The Corny Collins Show," wins the heart of resident hunk Link Larkin and kicks down the barriers for black and white integration on local television. Hairspray is festive, energetic, and simply amazing. Newcomer Nikki Blonsky as Tracy Turnblad outshines even Ricki Lake in John Waters' original cult classic with her fresh, spunky attitude and charm. Elijah Kelley as Seaweed and Taylor Parks as his little sister, Inez steal your heart and the show. You can't stop the beat with this instant hit!

Ruthless casino owner Willy Bank never imagined that the odds were against him when he double-crossed Danny Ocean's friend and mentor Reuben Tishkoff, putting the distraught Reuben in a hospital bed in critical condition. But Bank miscalculated... badly. He may have taken down one of the original Ocean's Eleven, but he left the others standing and, worse for him, gave them a shared purpose: to take Bank down on the night of what should be his greatest triumph--the grand opening of his new casino, appropriately named The Bank. Their strategy is twofold. First, they will ruin him financially by turning the tables on the precept that the house always wins. But, that's just money. The knockout punch will be to Bank's personal pride and joy: his reputation as the only hotelier who has earned the Royal Review Board's Five Diamond Award on every single one of his hotels. The plan is elaborate, dangerous and damn near impossible? but there are no limits when it comes to one of their own. Ocean's Thirteen proves that sequels can match up to the originals in rare occurances. The cast is back and better than ever in this devilishly clever second sequel.

Amazingly good and powerfully menacing prequel. Gaspard Ulliel is hauntingly beautiful and exceptionally gifted in his portrayal of young Hannibal Lecter.

Set in France near the end of World War I in the deadly trenches of the Somme, in the gilded Parisian halls of power, and in the modest home of an indomitable provincial girl and her relentless search to find her fiancée, who has disappeared. He is one of five French soldiers believed to have been court-martialed under mysterious circumstances and pushed out of an allied trench into an almost-certain death in no-man's land. All an investigation into the arbitrary nature of secrecy, the absurdity of war, and the enduring passion, intuition and tenacity of the human heart. Beautifully captivating. Wonderfully acted. Great story. Gaspard Ulliel is incredible. Jean-Pierre Jeunet brilliantly directed this tale.

300 is a great movie of epic proportion. Frank Miller puts Peter Jackson to shame with his stunning special effects. This film is a visual feast, and an outstanding piece of art. A must see.

Stand By Me is one of the best stories ever. It has no flaws. Any emotion one could ever have, any fear, any doubts, any pain - it's all displayed in this film. I have never met a person in my life that has had anything bad to say about Stand By Me, and I don't think I ever will. This coming-of-age story hits so many personal notes for most people, including me. It's a real story, with characters and situations anyone can relate to. River Phoenix, Wil Wheaton, Corey Feldman, and Kiefer Sutherland help to make this movie what it is - brilliant and flawless.

Armed with a Winchester rifle, two Morrocan boys set out to look after their family's herd of goats. In the silent echoes of the desert, they decide to test the rifle? but the bullet goes farther than they thought it would. In an instant, the lives of four separate groups of strangers on three different continents collide. Caught up in the rising tide of an accident that escalates beyond anyone's control are a vacationing American couple, a rebellious deaf Japanese teenager and her father, and a Mexican nanny who, without permission, takes two American children across the border. None of these strangers will ever meet; in spite of the sudden, unlikely connection between them, they will all remain isolated due to their own inability to communicate meaningfully with anyone around them. It is easy to see why Babel won so many awards. It's a brilliant storyline. It has great acting (headed by Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett), and it leaves you with a lasting impression and strong moral messages. A truly incredible film.

The perfect heist. The perfect betrayal. The perfect comeback. The Italian Job is a great action flick, and surely one you won't want to miss. Mark Wahlberg, Edward Norton, Charlize Theron, and Jason Statham deliver, and they prove that the only thing better than devising a plan for the perfect payday is devising the perfect plan to getting even.

From acclaimed musician and filmmaker, Rob Zombie ("The Devil's Rejects," "House of 1000 Corpses") comes an entirely new take on the highly successful and terrifying Halloween legacy that began in 1978. While revealing a new chapter in the established Michael Myers saga, the film will surprise both classic and modern horror fans with a departure from prior films in the Halloween franchise. Audiences should brace themselves for unprecedented fear as Zombie turns back time to uncover the making of a pathologically disturbed, even cursed child named Michael Myers. Halloween was disturbing, but brilliant - one could not expect anything less of a Rob Zombie film. One of the best remakes I've ever seen. Truly horrifying and entertaining.

A breath of fresh air - a story about new-age werewolves, far different from any we've ever heard in stories. Agnes Bruckner and Hugh Dancy made a great duo. A good movie with great prequel and sequel potential.

Arthur and the Invisibles brings back such fond memories of movies such as James and the Giant Peach. It's an absolutely wonderful children's story - I'm an adult, and even I didn't want it to end! This is definitely one of Freddie Highmore's better films. Loved the voice-overs by David Bowie, Snoop Dogg, and others. This was just a really nice movie over-all.

Rick Schroder makes his film debut alongside Jon Voight and Faye Dunaway in this tear-jerker of a movie about a father-son relationship and the hardships they go through to stay strong and stay together. The Champ is certainly affecting, and all three leads take the film so earnestly that somehow it works. Voight is believable both as a boxer and as a well-intentioned screw-up of a dad, and Schroder is a fine young actor (and irresistibly adorable). The Champ will succeed in stealing your heart everytime.

An assistant DA (Gosling) is caught up in a game of cat-and-mouse with a man (Hopkins) who tried to murder his wife and is set free on a series of technicalities. Ryan Gosling and Anthony Hopkins give perfect-pitch performances. Fracture is a movie you won't want to miss.

In the final days of Marcus Aurelius' reign, the aging emperor arouses his son Commodus' anger when he makes known his wish that Maximus be his successor. Power-hungry Commodus kills his father and orders the death of Maximus. But the latter flees and hides his identity by becoming slave and a gladiator. Eventually, Maximus journeys back to Rome to confront his archrival. One of Ridley Scott's most recognized achievement, and one of Joaquin Phoenix's best performances as the ruthless Commodus.
