My TV has been broken for a few weeks and the video store I used to rent at has closed so my reviews will slow down big time for a while in here until I get all of that sorted out. In other words this profile will be competely neglected until I sort all that stuff. But I will be back, eventually, I promise. My favorite genre is SciFi/Fantasy. I also have a soft spot for 'foriegn' and independent films. But in general I'll watch pretty much anything. Yeah, I'm a nerd, so what? In addition to watching a lot of movies, I also watch a lot of TV. Some TV shows I love are Firefly, Stargate SG1 & Atlantis, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr, Dr Who, Torchwood, The X-files and Farscape. That's my very short list (I have a much longer one). I'm here for movies and movie discussion only. Do NOT send me your email! Please don't post skin requests on my profile. If you have a skin request there's a thread in the forums for that. If you need help making skins feel free to ask me. I'm by no means an expert but I'll help you where I can and if I don't have the answer I may be able to point in the direction of someone who does. |

I think I would need to know a bit more about cop films to fully enjoy this film. But even without a vast knowledge of cop films, this one's still fun to watch. I hope Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg continue to make films together.

Serenity
PG-13
I'm a Browncoat. What more needs to be said? Oh right, if you haven't seen it, SEE it(I recommend seeing Firefly first, but you don't really have to).
3.
Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)
R
This is by far one of the coolest, boldests, most imaginative movies I have ever seen. This movie is such a mind bender that it is hard to say much about it. It creates such a full and detailed world, it's stunning to see so much done in just one film, without being over done or jamming too much in. The acting is good especially Konstantin Khabensky as Anton. All I have to say is watch this movie at least twice and in a row if at all possible.
4.
Strictly Ballroom
PG
I have probably watched this movie a thousand times and would be happy to watch it a thousand more. One of my all time favorites.
6.
The Dish
PG-13
I'm not sure why I love this movie so much, but I do. It's Australian, it's quiet, and it's brillantly subtle.

Surf's Up
by DaveI don't get what the obsession with penguins is (or was), can't make an animated movie without them all of a sudden...
Anyway, I expected to hate this but it's really good. Lots of little easter eggy bits of humour, the chicks are cute and funny, and the style is kind of like Creature Comforts at times. In addition to being pretty bored with all the penguins I'm not a fan of surfing at all. Surfing docs put me to sleep. Not in this case though. Some damn fine voice acting too, though the cast were in the studio together so that no doubt helped (I'm a voice actor and know how tough it is when you can't here the others)Hey, you should really see this!
Nobody is more surprised that I'm recomending this than I am, expected it to blow hard. But it doesn'tposted 23 days ago -

Kramer vs. Kramer
by DaveSweet and harrowing drama. Dustin Hoffman is brilliant in this, as is little Justin Henry as his son. The film also highlights a pretty big injustice that still goes on today, which I won't detail in case I completely spoil it (should be pretty obvious though).
I think Streep's characters story should have been told somewhere too as we can't really develop any sympathy for her. She's essentially batshit crazy. It might be because I'm a guy, but I didn't even slightly side with herHey, you should really see this! I'm amazed so few of you have
