About Me
I love movies full stop. I love chatting about them and getting other people's opinions so feel free to post a message on my page and I'll get back to you:)

My other hobbies include collecting movie memrobilia mostly from The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, watching DVDs and going to the cinema, writing, reading and listening to music. I also enjoy going to movie conventions.

Also love movie soundtracks my favourite composers are Danny Elfman, Howard Shore, John Williams, Patrick Doyle and James Horner.

St Trinians St Trinians Unrated 3.0 Stars
An enjoyable film with a cast that consists of many top British actors and actresses. I thought Rupert Everett was funny in a dual role and of the students Gemma Atherton delivered the best performance. While the ending flounders a little, the first hour is great fun. It's a shame that the likes of Celia Imrie, Toby Jones and Stephen Fry are given little to do.
Black Sheep (2007) Black Sheep (2007) Unrated 3.0 Stars
Leave your brain at the door before seeing this film as it's very silly but a lot of fun. Think Shaun of the Dead with zombie sheep. The jokes are ok - though not brilliant. The characters are pretty much cardboard cut outs which is fine and some of the the efftects are impressive as are the creature effects. The ending drags a little but for the most part this is entertaining if a little strange.
Beowulf (2007) Beowulf (2007) PG-13 2.5 Stars
An interesting idea though executed in a way that makes little sense. The performances were good though the characterisation is hardly there so we fail to actually care about Beowulf. After the likes of Forrest Gump and Castaway, that drew us into the characters world, Robert Zemeckis fails to deliver here and what is left is an unsatisfying overkill of effects that are at times dazzling though not enough to save this from being an ok action/adventure.
Happy-Go-Lucky Happy-Go-Lucky Unrated 4.0 Stars
Mike Leigh delivers yet another original film. It's all down to his skill with creating terrific characters and casting the right actors to bring his creations to life. Sally Hawkins is brilliant in the leading role as a quirky and upbeat primary school teacher who believes she can bring out the best in people with her sunny and positive outlook on life - even her driving instructor who is negative and prejudice. Not as gloomy as many Mike Leigh's projects, this is a delight to watch and will have you smiling after the credits roll.
The Birds The Birds PG-13 3.0 Stars
While it seems a little dated at times, Hitchcock keeps up his tradition of being the master of suspense with this film. While it's no Psycho, this has it moments of terror. The acting is what lets it down at times and the dialogue is at times laughable. The famous birds on the climbing frame scene is very creepy. While this film has it's flaws you cannot deny that Hitchcock was a great director.
Lucky You Lucky You PG-13 2.5 Stars
If you have an interest in poker then you'll probably enjoy this, for everyone else this is a bit of a slow moving trip through a series of card games. Director Curtis Hanson has hit a bit of a dead end here after a string of good films. The romantic subplot between Eric Bana and Drew Barrymore is pretty non exsistent while they give good performances. The other plot involving Bana and his father (played by Robert Duval) is better though there's not enough here to make you care.

David's Favorite Movies

The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King 1. The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King PG-13 5.0 Stars
The best of the LOTR trilogy it has it all - action, drama, emotion and great performances from a great cast. The perfect end to a perfect set of movies.
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring 2. The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring PG-13 5.0 Stars
The first of the fantasy trilogy is a great introdution to what is to come. I remember seeing this the first time at the cinema and being totally blown away.
The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers 3. The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers PG-13 5.0 Stars
Probably the weakest of the trilogy though still amazing. It suffers with having no real beginning or end. Though the battle of Helm's Deep is outstanding.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 4. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix PG-13 5.0 Stars
You cannot fault the Harry Potter movies on their entertainment value. This fifth movie is a brilliant adaptation. Although at times it feels a bit rushed plot wise it is visually stunning and there are faultless performances from all no matter how big or small their part is. The main trio have matured brilliantly and of the new charcters Imelda Staunton, Evanna Lynch and Helena Bonham Carter shine.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 5. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire PG-13 5.0 Stars
The fourth movie in the Harry Potter series has a great dark edge. Yes it cuts out loads of the book but the Triwizard Tournaments tasks have been brought to life brilliantly. I wasn't disappointed.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 6. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban PG 5.0 Stars
Harry's world is starting to get darker in this third instalment in the HP series. The Dementors are very creepy and there's loads of great British talent on board in this one.
