I thought this was a great movie for a new generation. And with the simple yet smart storyline of tiing in the old with the new they have completly rewitten the Star Trek timeline as we know it which now opens the door to a possible new series and additional movies.
First time I have watched an end of the world movie where no one saves the day, and there is no last minute saviour, they actually destroyed the planet. But don't think I have ruined the ending for you, because I haven't.
While this was an excellent film and deserves to be nomiated for Best Picture, I don't beleive that it will win. However deserves the respect and awards that it does obtain.
I found this to be an excellent movie of the drama genre. I am now very interested to one day be able to see this piece live on stage as it is based on a play. Simple in its story, and setting the movie relies on the power of the performances and dialoge which I thought was achieved.
The point of the movie was a nice sentiment, but for the love of god it took forever to get to the point of the movie which only happened in the last 20 mins of the movie. Seven pounds of my life I will never get back.
This movie has been getting a lot of average to below average reviews. But I liked it. This is a movie with a message, its not about romance, its not about character development, like its original, its about a message the story is triing to portray and I think it suceeded in passing that message on.
