Irreversible (2002, Unrated)
Gaspar Noe is a genius and Irreversible is one of the most visionary and monstrous films ever made. I am hard pressed to think of any other film that graces the viewer with feelings of equal parts exhilaration and nausea. If a film can cause audience members to walk-out and shout profanities at the screen you have something quite special of Vincent Gallo's Brown Bunny. If made it through this film and wish to experience more of the twisted mind of Gaspar Noe look for his film I Stand Alone. |

Vampyr - Der Traum des Allan Grey (Not Against the Flesh) (Adventures of David Gray) (Castle of Doom (1932, Unrated)
It is hard to believe it took me this long to finally see Dreyer's stunning film. I had very high expectations and the film surpassed them all. Criterion again brings this film to DVD in the best possible way. Vampyr is a sound film, but much of the film's story unfolds through text inserts. Vampyr sports some of the most arresting horror images in any film. |
