I literally saw this nine times on it's initial release.

This fucked-up movie made by a bunch of fucked-up young people has no business being this great, but it really is.

I can't believe how well this stands up when viewed as an adult.

A beautiful movie about an outrageous injustice.

Seek out "La Jete", the short film this is adapted from.

Hitchcock liked to pretend this was a fun movie, but I think it was made by a sexually frustrated middle-aged man terrified of his own mortality and dwelling on the futility of struggle. It's a classic, but a tough one to take if you really let yourself get enveloped in itl.

Incredible. I would trade in Robert Altman's whole career for this one film.

I grew up loving Kubrick, turned on him during my early twenties, then came back around. I love this movie.

If Jean Renoir were alive he'd be making films like this. Eighty minutes you'll remember for a lifetime.

A masterpiece. Somehow the marraige of Wenders, Shepard, and Kit Carson (who wrote the third act almost entirely by himself) manged to bring out the best in each other. I know Wenders fans tend to prefer some other films but to me this is as great as they come.

"You never got me down, Ray. Ya hear me? Never got me down." Pardon me, I have to go cry now.

One of Scorsese's greats. He's younger and closer to the life he's filming here, and it shows in it's power and detail.

One of my favorite films from the past ten years. Moving, comical, and thought-provoking.

Excellent film for the Bush era.

Mostly due to one great performance - you know who. It's a classic villain right up there with something Charles Laughton or Peter Lorre would've done.

I think this is damn close to perfect. Ed Lachman is my favorite cinematographer working today.

Probably the best play-to-film adaptation ever.

A (grown-up, depressed) family classic.

Why the fuck didn't anyone go see this when it came out? I went twice and that still didn't help the box office
