A true game-changer for the comic book film genre. This proves that the typical beat-em-up tone of the vast field of comic movies is not the only possibility, as The Dark Knight tackles serious issues like terrorism, government surveillance, the pain of loss, and most importantly, our willingness to cast aside the rules and standards that we hold ourselves to and hold up our society when our own safety is on the line. But at the same time, it succeeds in every way as an action heavy summer blockbuster. If this movie isn't in the Best Picture discussion come January I will be truly shocked. Do yourself a favor, and see this movie. And if you've seen it, see it again.
