The Forgetting - A Portrait of Alzheimer's (2004,  Unrated)
The Forgetting - A Portrait of Alzheimer's
An absolutely heartbreaking look at one of the most common diseases of the elderly, its effects on the patient and their family, and what the future of disease treatment may look like.

Strange Brew (1983,  R)
Strange Brew
A cult classic! I suppose it isn't very funny to non-SCTV fans, but I find it hilarious. Definitely funny, and very quotable. The comedy doesn't wear out after 10 viewings, either; possibly because it's based on Hamlet, and possibly because of Thomas' and Moranis' talent.
3
Paprika (2006,  R)
Paprika
It's rather a confusing film the first time one views it, but the spectacular animation more than makes up for that. This is, quite possibly, the best animation I have ever seen. (Excluding, of course, Jan Svankmajer and Terry Gilliam because that is a different type of animation.)
4
Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964,  PG)
5
Fargo (1996,  R)
Fargo
You betcha this is a great movie. Classic Coen humor and a crime spree that manages to be endearing and sinister at the same time.Ya... one of my favorites.
6
Canadian Bacon (1995,  PG)
Canadian Bacon
This is an AMAZING movie, as it combines comedy with politics, and it isn't preachy, either. I was surprised that Michael Moore had any part in it, mostly because of the stellar performances of Alan Alda and John Candy. It is perhaps the only Moore film that's actually worth seeing.
7
Jesus Camp (2006,  PG-13)
Jesus Camp
This is undoubtedly disturbing, and of course there is a message behind it, one that some may call bias. Fine. But it should raise some questions in one's mind about the validity of one's own beliefs. It's downright insane to be praying to a cardboard cutout of George Bush, be baptized by a bottle of Nestle water, and so on. But, are one's own beliefs any less insane or intolerant?
