1
Rent (2005,  PG-13)
Rent
Excellent music and an excellent portrayal of one of the most loved musical of all time! Great combination of drama, singing, and romance! A must see!
2
The Devil Wears Prada (2006,  PG-13)
The Devil Wears Prada
Good movie, but doesn't quite keep up with the magic of the previous two. It has a star studded cast with Anne Hathaway as Andrea and Meryl Streep as frank editor of Runway the most prestigious fashion editorial in the world.
3
Across the Universe (2007,  PG-13)
Across the Universe
Great movie, a little strange but its truly a must see for all music lovers like me! Come Together and Let it Be that we watch this movie. Don't forget to say Hey Jude!
4
No Country for Old Men (2007,  R)
No Country for Old Men
Intense drama with violence and tension in every second. I might not be suitable for amatuer movie watchers becasue the pure tension and ragged plot line might be both confusing and frightening! Javier Bardem made his debut in the american film business as a rampid, cold serial killer which he did amazingly. If you can handle it you'd better see it.
5
La Vie en Rose (La Mome) (2007,  PG-13)
La Vie en Rose (La Mome)
A little long and little dull for those who can't speak French or read subtitles, but the film is actually very enlightening. It illustrates the tramatic childhood of France's Judy Garland. My family was complaining and begging for the ending, but I quite enjoyed it. But it certainly won't satisfy the taste of the average movie-goer
6
Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007,  PG-13)
Elizabeth: The Golden Age
Great historical drama about the reign of one of Great Britain's greatest monarchs, this film was decent, but has excellent costumes (academy award winning). The average movie-goer might find this a bit boring but this is a must see for every history buff
7
Long Day's Journey Into Night (1987,  Unrated)
Long Day's Journey Into Night
Probably the most intense film I have never seen, but I did see the play. A Long Day's Journey, Eugene O'Neils autobiographical masterpiece, details his tension filled house hold. It is quite long and extremely intense. It also has heavy alcohol use and many metaphorical references to morphine. Fun Fun Fun
8
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968,  G)
2001: A Space Odyssey
A great movie, extremely memorable but its too god damn long or at least it seems that way because of the dialoge or the lack thereof. It has splendid imagination and effects, but that doesn't keep you distracted from the plot or the lack of one for too long.
9
Little Miss Sunshine (2006,  R)
Little Miss Sunshine
Probably the most funny movie I have seen, exept for Borat. Steve Carell does a great job as a suicidal uncle, Paul Dano as the "emo" older brother, and of course Alan Arkin as the dirty old grandpa. What more could you ask for in a movie?
