Movie Review #11: Brothers (2009)
Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman
Two brothers who are different from one another; one is a marine who is going to the war in Afghanistan and the other is an ex con who has recenlty got out of prison. After reported missing while in Afghanistan, Capt. Sam Cahill's (Maguire) family assumes that he is dead. Tommy (Gyllenhaal) tries to be there for his brother's wife, Grace (Portman) and daughters as they try to get on with their lives. Once Sam is back home, he doesn't seem quite himself.
My thoughts on this film, this film is dark, depressing, and traumatizing. Its based on a 2004 Danish film called Brødre. The three leads give their amazing performances especially Maguire, who is sadlly best known playing Spider-Man/Peter Parker and underrated. He gives the best performance of his career by far. He should get a Oscar nomination as a tramatized soldier from Afgahnstan. It gives you a message about "War is hell" and what are the consquences in war.
Overall, this is film was good turned into a great by the tree leads. If you are interested, I suggest you to go see it and he will blow your mind away. Go See It!!!!!
