| Brothers - R |
Movie Review #11: Brothers (2009)
Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman Two brothers who are different from one another; one is a marine who is going to the war in Afghanistan and the other is an ex con who has recenlty got out of prison. After reported missing while in Afghanistan, Capt. Sam Cahill's (Maguire) family assumes that he is dead. Tommy (Gyllenhaal) tries to be there for his brother's wife, Grace (Portman) and daughters as they try to get on with their lives. Once Sam is back home, he doesn't seem quite himself. My thoughts on this film, this film is dark, depressing, and traumatizing. Its based on a 2004 Danish film called Brødre. The three leads give their amazing performances especially Maguire, who is sadlly best known playing Spider-Man/Peter Parker and underrated. He gives the best performance of his career by far. He should get a Oscar nomination as a tramatized soldier from Afgahnstan. It gives you a message about "War is hell" and what are the consquences in war. Overall, this is film was good turned into a great by the tree leads. If you are interested, I suggest you to go see it and he will blow your mind away. Go See It!!!!! |

| The Shawshank Redemption - R |
Movie Review #10: The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Tim Robbins, Morgan Freeman, Bob Gunton, James Whitmore Andy Dufresne, is sent to Shawshank Prison for the murder of his wife and secret lover. He is very isolated and lonely at first, but realizes there is something deep inside your body, that people can't touch and get to....'HOPE'. Andy becomes friends with prison 'fixer' Red, and Andy epitomizes why it is crucial to have dreams. His spirit and determination, leads us into a world full of imagination, filled with courage and desire. Will Andy ever realize his dreams? My thoughts on this movie, this is probably the most beloved movie of all time of couple of things: the performances of Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins, it talks about friendships, hardships, hopes, and dreams. This film will make u dream about your sucesses. It was nominated for seven Oscars and did not win any. Why this movie didn't win all seven Oscars is beyond me. Overall, this is a classic film that everyone loves and if you have'nt seen the movie, go check it, You will finally understand what everyone is talking about and you will understand why this is everybody's all time favorite movie. |

| The Dark Knight - PG-13 |
Movie Review #9: The Dark Knight (2008) Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhert Batman raises the stakes in his bourgeois war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker. my thoughts on this movie are phenomenal. This is excellent in every way. The performances are awesome, especially the late and great Heath Ledger as the Joker. He has made him into an iconic movie villain. Batman, eat your heart out because The Joker was the true star of the film. Christopher Nolan had everything: perfect directing, perfect story, perfect balance between action and drama, everything is perfect. Overall, this is one of my favorite films of 2008. This is the best comic book movie of all time. Yo Nicholson, I'm really happy for you. I'll let you finish, But Heath Ledger had one of the best performances of all time. This movie is a instant classic. |

| The Crow - R |
Movie Review #8: The Crow (1994) Brandon Lee, Rochelle Davis, Ernie Hudson Shelly and Eric were very much in love. But no one gets married on Halloween, not in Detroit. Shelly is raped and beaten by city boss Top Dollar's thugs, only to die 30 hours later in a hospital. Eric is shot and pushed out a window. A year later death is no longer what it was as Eric Draven, accompanied by a Crow and gifted with new powers and a world of grief and pain, is brought back to life to avenge his love's death. After all, love is forever. And some of us Believe in Angels. My thoughts on this film are excellent. It has a creepy, Gothic tale with fantastic shots of the city the plot takes place in and a scary, dark atmosphere. The film mostly became a legend because its protagonist, Brandon Lee, who delivered one of the best performances in film history and should been nominated for an Oscar for that, was ironically and "by accident" was killed during the shooting. It is sad this was supposedly Lee's breakout film and dies on his last. Overall, great film with an brilliant performance. If anyone hasn't seen it, What are you waiting for, go watch it because it is masterpiece. |

| Mean Creek - R |
Movie Review #7: Mean Creek (2004) Rory Culkin, Ryan Kelley, Scott Mechlowicz, Josh Peck, Carly Schroeder When Sam Merrick is beaten up by local bully George Tooney, Sam's older brother Rocky and his friends Clyde and Marty plan to pretend it's Sam's birthday to "invite" George on a boat trip in which they would dare him to strip naked, jump in the lake, and run home naked. But when Sam, his girlfriend Millie, Rocky, and Clyde see George as not much of a bad guy, they want to call off the plan, but Marty refuses. Will the plan go ahead as planned? my thoughts on this movie is it's a tight well made flick. This is an intelligent, engaging movie that everyone has to see. All actors were good in this film especially Josh Peck, he makes George captivating when he could just as easily made him a typical, one-note bully. Peck gives George substance and turns on the charm so well that we understand the others' reluctance to go through with exacting his comeuppance. George becomes likable, someone who seems to resort to bullying to hide inadequacies of his own. Overall, Mean Creek is one of the best coming-of-age films. All teenagers and their parents should see this, despite its R rating, well who cares what rating it is, This film is awesome. |

| The Warriors - R |
Movie Review #6: The Warriors (1979) Micheal Beck, Deborah Van Valkenburgh, David Patrick Kelly All of the gangs of New York call a truce for one night to hear what one man has to say. 60,000 gang members, none of them armed, meet to hear a man called Cyrus. Cyrus leads a gang called The Grammercy Riffs, and has a plan for all of New York. He calls out to all the gangs and claims that if all of the gangs were to join resources, they would be unstoppable against any force. The leader of a gang called The Rogues has a different idea though, and smuggles in a gun to shoot Cyrus. During all of the panic, Luther of The Rogues yells out that it was The Warriors of Coney Island that killed Cyrus and broke the truce, leaving The Warriors a long way from home and forcing them to fight their way through every gang along the way. my thoughts on this film, it is so good, its underrated but everybody loves this film. The beauty of this film is that each actor was a relative unknown, and chosen because they embodied the character they were supposed to be playing. And also its very violent too. Everybody knows the climax of The Warriors final fight and that classic line "Warriors.....come out and plaaaayeeeaaaayyy!". If you watch this film, You will fall in love with it. |

| The Silence of the Lambs - R |
Movie Review #5: The Silence of the Lambs (1991) Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Scott Glen, Ted Levine A young FBI cadet must confide in an incarcerated and manipulative killer to receive his help on catching another serial killer who skins his victims. my thoughts on this film are one word: amazing. To this day, Hopkins still gives a tremendous, memorable performance as the diabolical, but brilliant Hannibal Lecter even though his screen time was about 16 minutes or less. As for Jodie Foster, she's the one who holds the movie together. The fear she shows just behind her eyes makes Clarice's outward courage all the more interesting and vulnerable. This is the perfect way to play the part because it explains Lector's interest in Clarice. Her only bargaining chip in getting Lector's help is to let him `feed' on her innermost secrets and fears in exchange for his brilliant insights into the psychotic mind. And Ted Levine, who was best known as Stottlemeyer in Monk, delivers as one of the most chilling as an actor. He is a scary ass killer, man, from the skinning women to the dance to even the quote "It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again. " Overall, Do Not Miss this film, it is suspenseful and terrifying. Do Not Miss it in your lifetime. |

(read more) In an incredible twist of fate, a Scottish doctor on a Ugandan medical mission becomes irreversibly entangled with one of the world's most barbaric figures: Idi Amin. Impressed by Dr. Garrigan's brazen attitude in a moment of crisis, the newly self-appointed Ugandan President Amin hand picks him as his personal physician and closest confidante. Though Garrigan is at first flattered and fascinated by his new position, he soon awakens to Amin's savagery - and his own complicity in it. Horror and betrayal ensue as Garrigan tries to right his wrongs and escape Uganda alive. my thoughts on this are. forget about Will Smith on Pursuit of Happiness. Whitaker delivered one of the best performances, let me rephrase that, the best performance of 2006. McAvoy is great as well should have been nominated oh well. I'm glad Whitaker won that Oscar for that. He also became the 4th African American to win an Oscar for leading role as well as Denzel Washington for Training Day (2001), Jammie Foxx for Ray (2004) and Sidney Poitier for Lilies of the Field (1963). Overall, Whitaker can so scary for a dictator that actually happened in real life. If you are looking for a good film to rent, get this one cause its worth a watch. |
