Stand by Me (1986,  R)
Stand by Me
This is one of the best films ever. I can, literally, watch it over and over again and it never ceases to make me laugh, cry, gasp, and sigh. The perfect movie for me, and almost my absolute favorite.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas) (2008,  PG-13)
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas)
This was an absolute masterpiece.

I have nothing more to say.

I think that when we look back on innocence, we remember having it, loosing it, and realizing that we'll never get it back. Those movies always make me tear up.

Our Very Own (2005,  Unrated)
Our Very Own
I love small towns, and I absolutely love small town movies. This movie has so much to offer. The acting is spot on through all of it. I mean, seriously, I pretty much live in Shelbyville, and people act just like this. ;)

The story is so heart-felt, makes you cheer and cry; the music is so fitting, and just an overall excellent movie.
4
Slumdog Millionaire (2008,  R)
Slumdog Millionaire
All I can say is wow. This is definitely the best film I've seen in a looong time. The acting, the story, cinematography, the pacing, the twists, the romance, the humor, the music; everything is here!

If you don't see any other movie this year, you need to go see this movie. Absolutely fantastic.

If this doesn't win Best Pictures at the Academy Awards this year, then the whole thing is ridiculous and rigged; it's far beyond 'Button,' and I've yet to see Revolutionary Road, but I can't see it beating this one.

Masterpiece.
5
The Dark Knight (2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight
Best comic book/superhero movie ever.

The late Heath Ledger was fantastic as the Joker, too. I still have nightmares. :p
6
300 (2007,  R)
7
Taken (2009,  PG-13)
Taken
An excellent Popcorn movie. It was so much fun to watch, and, come on, Liam Neeson has to be one of the coolest guys on Earth. Not a bad action hero, either. ;)
8
Gran Torino (2009,  R)
Gran Torino
This is surely the best I've ever seen Clint Eastwood. The story is very powerful, you find yourself laughing at the jokes, cringing at the violence, and smiling at Walt's (Eastwood's character) big heart.

Great movie.
9
Untraceable (2008,  R)
10
Dôbutsu no mori (Animal Crossing: The Movie) (Animal Forest: The Movie) (2008,  Unrated)
Dôbutsu no mori (Animal Crossing: The Movie) (Animal Forest: The Movie)
That was SUCH A CUTE MOVIE! I'm a sucker for adorable movies sometimes... :P I love the game, and I'm so glad someone finally translated it into English, and it was so adorable.

Ai and Yu... there totally was some chemistry there. ;)
11
Reign Over Me (2007,  R)
12
The Kite Runner (2008,  PG-13)
The Kite Runner
The movie was very good - the story kept my attention, the acting was quite good, and everything fit quite well. Nothing revolutionary, but very good.

I think it would have been better if the film had focused on the relationship between Amir and Hassan as children more. When it cut to Amir as an adult, it went downhill fast. Nevertheless, a very powerful story, and I'd recommend seeing it at least once.
13
Forrest Gump (1994,  PG-13)
Forrest Gump
It was good. Way overrated, though. I enjoyed it, but not enough to give it a full 4 stars. I laughed a lot, and I thought the last third was touching, but nothing tearjerking.
14
The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (2003,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King
Very epic movie, and most definitely the best of the Trilogy. Though it was very long, and some parts seemed over-done, this is no doubt a powerful film for LOTR and just general action/adventure swords-n-sorcery films alike.
15
My Girl (1991,  PG)
16
Back to the Future (1985,  PG)
Back to the Future
Very neat story, kinda cheesy, but I think that's part of it's charm. I'm not Michael J Fox's biggest fan, but this is the best I've ever seen him. Good popcorn movie to watch.
