May seem ridiculous and low-brow, but there are some things that are allowed to be and end up freakin' hilarious... this is one... definitely for the gamer in all of us...
Forget those "everything perfect" teen shows... this is your dose of raw reality... drugs, drinking, sex, partying, AIDS... While hardcore and cynical, Telly's (Fitzpatrick) last lines actually sum up the attitudes of teens today. Not for the conservative group...
want to see real life outside the paradise of rio de janeiro?... watch thi and be shocked how this kid survived all this brutality while others were not as fortunate (or even lucky)...
this got me into business and wall street (where i work now)... acting was amazing and yes, what ben affleck says in the beginning is about 90% true...
crash is exactly what it is... people "crashing" into each other - either positively or negatively (mostly)... with each "crash", the better each person becomes... from Sandra Bullock's character to Terrence Howard's - no stone is left unturned and no heart left untouched... watch the scene with the little girl and you just know...
How can you beat the classic?? make the remake with George Clooney and Brad Pitt and step back... If you were not entertained by this movie, something is very wrong with you... that or you don't get how interesting the con can actually be... Hell, I wish I was Danny Ocean (though I am a girl with no chance to doing something as interesting as he did).
this movie grabs you and does not let you go... hopkins and gosling have an amazing on-screen chemistry where one plays off the other... this is THE 2007 drama movie of the year... 5 stars is an understatement...
From beginning to end, this movie was hilarious... jonah hill definitely stole the screen with all his sex jokes paired "odd couple"-style with michael cera's thoughtful character... christopher mintz-plasse, seth rogan, and bill hader keep the laughs going with the whole "McLovin" deal... This is your 2007 comedy movie - on par with "The Simpsons Movie".
if you never grew up in Scotland, you will need subtitles b/c their accents make the dialog a little hard to understand. Martin Compston is blazing hot in this. One of my all-time favorites .
If you like KIDS, you would like this one. It really makes you wonder: how young they are and how old they act. Just watch Tracy's shift from naivety to experience (a drama staple), and wonder why cries for help went unanswered. EXCELLENT
Seen this more than 10 times (half of those with different friends), and I still laugh so hard. Farva is definitely one of the best played... Props to Kevin Heffernan and the rest of Broken Lizard !!
proof that josh hartnett is not a comedy actor... the cover quote may say "sexy, fresh, and widely hip" but it is far from all three... why see it? 1) josh hartnett's roommate, 2) his co-workers...
as much as the title sounds like a porno, it's far from that with its A--star-studded cast(not totally known but they did some hit movies - not A, not B) and indie-style plot. It deserves way more than just one quote - award maybe?.
this keeps you hooked from beginning to end... might be hard to understand the first time around, but if you know about multiple personilty disorder and dissociative fugues, it takes away the confusion... p.s. Edward Norton's sex scene is hot!!!
Disney takes the whole "princess" idea (ordinary girl becomes beautiful and - sometimes - raises her class status) to another level with an "anti-princess" (beautiful girl who is of a high family lowers herself for what she believes in) and a touch of adages and the oft-used animal sidekick... Hope there's more coming out like this...
saw this twice... only reason i saw it was for a woman who gave up her model- and actor-family to be in one of the toughest jobs out there... the plot had a lot of holes, keira did better movies, and the shots' blurred colors didn't add much... RIP Domino Harvey
While Chris Evans was sexy, his character needed 2 be punched a few times... unless you've seen 80s & 90s teen films, you may not get it... a lot of b-list actors that deserve more...
Gotta give it to my fellow Queens, NY native Ed Burns (who is NOT Ben Affleck)... they say it's like ocean's eleven - thought it was a little harder to follow...
What to say about TRAFFIC?... what can't I say? THIS IS A MOVIE!!!! like a real movie, not teen flick crap of today... yet another reason why drugs are bad (see what erika christensen does)
for some reason, skinny christian bale is a little sexier than him at normal weight (call it my sick fantasy =P)... it's a movie in itself w/ many parallels and equally many disjoints... see it for yourself
This is a high school must-see... almost every character in this was/is/will be the people in your high school... not exactly "lol" funny, but you will at least smile with the Spicoli-Mr. Hand scenes... and guys will def. smile with Phoebe Cates
sparechange does a little more with the conspiracy and is a little more informative, but michael more strikes gold again - with the major cities that is... yep small town folk may not like what the fat man has to say... but he makes his point well... O Canada (see my Bowling for Columbine review)
The film may add to what the play cannot supply and makes it easier for those not living in NYC to get a glimpse of "actual reality", but the play is much better - more real and gritty... still the music is amazing, parts will make you cry, and the 99% of the original cast that returned lit up the siver screen as bright as the stage... one thing: rosario dawson =/= (does not equal) daphne ruben-vega...
Whether you see it for the storyline or Mena Suvari's rose petal scenes... for wes bentley or thora birch... it's one of those flicks that can bring groups together...
joaquin phoenix did not just play "johnny cash" - he was the medium of the man's spirit... reese witherspoon's june carter cash was also amazing... what these two did to become them could blow your mind (see the commentary)
diversity in the cast - no blatant racism... a twist ending... going from nothingness to hero by the end of the movie... it screams "JOHN SINGLETON DIRECTED THIS"... one of my favorite directors...
and you thought Pi was bad... take Pi - add color - remove the math - make it more drug-oriented and stretch out the 3rd person limited to 3rd person omniscient... that's requiem which if you watch at 2am will keep you up for hours... Aronofsky deserves the Oscar people...
Hard to watch at first (since everything is stark black and white - not much gray) and some of what Max says will go over some heads (mathematician's wet dream). Still, it's intriguing, psychological, artistic... An Aronofsky masterpiece with Hitchcock-ian camera angles...
Tarantino = many scenes interconnected but never in order? no. there is a pattern if you watch closely... the movie is gold... ultimate casting, plotline (which is actually there), and quick shots...
I bought this on a whim... and I don't regret it... both characters find themselves through S&M (yes - one hurts while the other one loves the pain)... this belonged more on the stage than the screen just because of its sense of realness... gyllenhall and spader were the best for these parts - due to their perpetually innocent looks... indie fans will love it - drama fans will love it - people seeking action will love the pillow they sleep on while it is on...
