The Damned United

It's probably terrible to say that "The movie's a bit one-sided, but it might make my Top Ten this year." We should have seen more of Michael Sheen's Brian Clough interacting with the Leeds players to see which side was right or wrong. Nevertheless, I didn't expect the movie to show a balance of wonderful images of Pretty England and Nasty England, the latter of which dominated our stereotypical understanding of the country in the 1970's. Michael Sheen also proves to be able to carry a movie. the guy's a face actor, not that I'm complaining.

There were a few things that appeared as vague in the movie that made me think that it was probably based from a book. Otherwise it's a great study of middle America and sexuality. I was also interested in Ginny and how she viewed sex, inverting what's supposed to be sacred and undesired.

This movie's...majestic. And for people who didn't like the Jewish guy badly portraying a Native American, John Wayne's character wasn't portrayed so nice either.
Marie Antoinette
PG-13
This movie encapsulates what it's like to have power, to not have it, and to be unable to know what to so with it.
