This film did not do any research on the real man Joesph Cary Merrick, but rather did a screenplay based on a musical that david bowie did from 1978-1979. The film is great for what it is but the fact of the mater is that most of what you see in the film is not true. The real story is way so much better. I look forward to seeing the remake that is under way.
