Slumdog Millionaire (2008,  R)
Slumdog Millionaire
this is one of the most amazing movies I've ever seen.
the story was fascinating, showing how young Jamal traveled across India and the people he encountered.
the stories behind his answers to the game show questions were incredible and very real.
this movie showcases the emotions of living such a life perfectly.
Jamal's love for Latika never faltered, despite all they went through.
every single experience played a role in shaping Jamal as a man, who, at first glance, would seem to be a passive and emotionless person, but who deep down has a great understanding of the importance of life and the true meaning of love.
Danny Boyle is an amazing filmmaker who perfectly captures every aspect of life, from the blissful ignorance of childhood to the crushing heartbreak of loss to the overall elation of being in love.
and of course, the dance scene at the end is just fantastic
this is undeniably a must-see for everyone.

Seven Pounds (2008,  PG-13)
Seven Pounds
This movie blew me away. Will Smith's heartfelt performance is nothing short of incredible - undoubtedly one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. Rosario Dawson was emotional and fantastic as well and even Woody Harrelson's small role drew me in. Every single actor from Barry Pepper to Michael Ealy was just amazing in this film. The sheer emotion of this movie truly moved me and is something I've never experienced in a film before. It was very sad, but at the same time very happy. The story was nothing like I thought. The writing, editing, directing, camera work, everything was just incredible. It keeps a steady pace from the mysterious beginning up to the heart-wrenching ending. A movie hasn't really made me feel anything this strongly in a long time. This has to be one of the most beautiful and magnificent films I've ever seen. Highly recommended for every single person.

(500) Days of Summer (2009,  PG-13)
(500) Days of Summer
This movie was simply amazing. It was very realistic and the only movie I know of where (SPOILER) the guy doesn't get the girl. I just loved it. You have to see it to understand.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009,  PG-13)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
This is simply the most badass movie ever created. It was hilarious, visually incomparable, and just all around amazing. There are just no words for how cool this movie was.
5
Serenity (2005,  PG-13)
Serenity
anyone who is a fan of the show Firefly will love this movie. it has the same comical, rough, and real feel of the show, but on a much grander scale. many of the questions that were never answered on TV are finally answered. it's just great to see the crew of Serenity back. "I aim to misbehave."
6
Traitor (2008,  PG-13)
Traitor
an enthralling story of a man caught between two worlds at war who has to decide which side he's on, an amazing film
7
Braveheart (1995,  R)
Braveheart
fantastic. Mel Gibson's direction is amazing, from the epic battle sequences to the raw emotion that Wallace feels. an inspiring film that fully deserves all the praise.
8
The Dark Knight (2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight
this movie was so well thought out and crafted that it's no wonder it's been such a hit. Heath Ledger's performance was phenomenal, but every other actor did and amazing job as well. it's a rare thing for a comic book movie to have such emotion and real life danger. just an incredible film.
9
Blade Runner (1982,  R)
Blade Runner
visually stunning, sometimes confusing but very deep story, love it
10
Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (2005,  R)

11
28 Days Later (2003,  R)
28 Days Later
amazing. Danny Boyle can expertly capture any emotion to film, whether it be love, hate, or in this case, fear. a truly terrifying film that will not soon forget.
12

14
Crash (2004,  R)
Crash
this movie not only makes you think, but feel. definitely worth seeing.
15
Transformers (2007,  PG-13)
Transformers
this is simply a fun movie. anyone who was a fan of Transformers when they were little can't help but enjoy it. yes, Michael Bay is clearly an action junky, but he pulls it off so well. his characters are always well-developed, whether it be Bad Boys or The Rock or Armageddon (if you actually pay attention to the stories you'll see what I mean), he adds great humor into all of his films, and they're always a lot of fun to just lose yourself in. I'm a big fan of Bay in that he makes fun films and makes them with style, despite being one of the more publicly ridiculed directors of the day

The Lost Boys (1987,  R)
The Lost Boys
Kiefer Sutherland at the beginning. Classic vampire film. The theme song is amazing and the two Coreys are fun to watch, especially Feldman as Edgar Frog. Would be incredible if it weren’t for the ending; some of those deaths were just too over the top. Still a great film though, a must see for any movie fan.

The Wrestler (2008,  R)
The Wrestler
this movie wasn't perfect, but it was really good
the story moved a little slow, making it seem longer than it really was
it was very real and very emotional-I even saw a woman walk out because she couldn't take it
the ending was left wide open and I personally wanted more closure on Randy
the acting, however, was phenomenal - Mickey Rourke was simply incredible as Randy "The Ram", there is just no other word for it, you really felt for the guy, which is why I disliked the ending, and the way he communicated with the other wrestlers was surprising and emotional; I never would have guessed that they get along that well with each other-Marisa Tomei was, as usual, excellent, she perfectly conveyed the awkward situation that Cassidy was put in and her love for Randy was endearing
overall, an excellent film, Rourke is entirely deserving of all the praise he's been getting

I thought this movie was amazing. I may have only read the comic a month ago, but I know it rather well, and found the movie to be very faithful, within reason. Certain details were trimmed because they weren't important enough to the plot, a few things were changed, but the core was in tact. The visuals were stunning, the music was brilliant, and the acting seemed to capture each character very well. I was hesitant about the new beginning at first, but found that it served the story very well, and I must say that I almost liked it more than the squid ending. In all, a very good film. I can't wait to see it again.

Jesus' Son
A surprisingly engaging, sad, and hilarious movie. Billy Crudup is nothing short of amazing. Jack Black is at his comic best in this - "I save lives." A dark, surprising, emotional, and ultimately redemptive look at a person who deals with drug addiction and tries to get his life back together. It's also a hard look at humanity, why people do things and how everyone gets by. This movie beats you down, then picks you back up. The only problem is Holly Hunter, she's just annoying. Otherwise, this is an incredible movie.

Knowing
not perfect, but still hauntingly fun. the 'whisperers' were really creepy. Cage actually delivered a convincing performance and, as always, Rose Byrne was just great. the kids both did excellent jobs as well. the special effects were amazing (that plane crash, wow), the story was intriguing and frightening, and the end was surprising. I for one was very surprised with all the religious parallels in a science-based movie. I can understand how certain people might not like the ending, but that's just because they don't get it. overall a very well made and enjoyable movie.

Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter and Under the Hood
Black Freighter - great for fans of the graphic novel, though I was surprised at how gory and graphic it was. Under the Hood - very interesting and extremely well put together in the style of an 80s documentary, Zack Snyder and his people clearly put a lot of work into this, simply ingenious
