The Informant! - R I am nominating this as the worst movie of 2009.
What is Steven Soderberg thinking? But seeing he did Ocean's whatever series I guess he doesn't care less.
Apart for 1 or 2 smirks, this is a disaster.
They even brought back Marvin Hamlisch to do the music.
How Matt Damon got involved is beyond me.
It's just plain slow and boring. Quirky? It's a failure.
Don't waste your money at the box office or rent it as a new release DVD - even as a weekly, you're better off doing the laundry or getting some sleep.

I've done my commmunity service.

The Time Traveler's Wife - PG-13 If you can over the whole concept of someome randomly time travelling and over sentimantal scenes are your thing, then you're going to LOVE this film. While I did enjoy it, there was something missing for me..can't quite put my finger on it yet... October 6, 2009

Away We Go - R Excellent. Saw it at MIFF and everyone loved it. A rad movie with a difference. Eccentric characters, great acting and some very funny moments. Not sure it will get a full distribution but I hope so as it's well worth it and a lot worse movies out there. July 31, 2009

State of Play - PG-13 Great cast - all excellent. Russ again shows his great versatility. Excellent political thriller involving DC congressmen and the reports trying to break the story. Recommended. May 31, 2009

Duplicity - PG-13 Easily the worst movie I have seen this year and if it's not the worst I will see for 2009 I will be amazed. The story is so confusing that it thinks it's smart (it is not) and it's so painfully boring that I started looking at watch less than an hour in. Julia Roberts should have stayed retired - last movie I saw her in Ocean's 11 was not a lot better than this dribble. Clive Owen not a lot better. It's a mitigated disaster. I gave it 1/2 star for a couple of location shots. Save your money. March 29, 2009

Watchmen - R Well...I went..And I was pretty shocked not knowing too much of the story (ok NONE of the story). I can't remember seeeing a more graphically violent and nasty movie in my life (thinking..the character of "The Comdedian"). Thank God for the sex scenes as they at least lighten the mood for a short time. Having said that, it's hard not to watch as it is to watch. Seemed even longer than it's running time. This is one for the real fans. 3/5. March 6, 2009

The Reader - R Amazing. Kate Winslet is simply (as always) brilliant. Asks questions, probes answers and never lets you go.Thought provoking and thoroughly (if not always comfortable) viewing. February 22, 2009

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - PG-13 Excellent. Cate Blanchett is top of her form (when wasn't she?) and Brad Pitt also good in this curious tale of someone aging backwards. Draws real emotion and make up artists work over time here (oscar?). Soundtrack outstanding. January 31, 2009

Revolutionary Road - R If it wasn't for a sensational performance by Kate Winslet I would have given this movie 1*. At times so tedious and slow and Di Caprio unconvincing in some scenes. It does leave questions and it does pay to stay to the end. Music is excellent. January 31, 2009

Slumdog Millionaire - R Outstanding! Best movie I'be seen for a couple of years. It's got everything. Including India as it really is. Bravo! December 25, 2008

Quantum of Solace - PG-13 Improves with time and feels longer than 1 hour and 46 mins. Ultimately disappointing. Plot so thin it's barely there and don't expect any one liners! November 26, 2008

Traitor - PG-13 Interesting story- can be slow at times. Acting good and many locations. Terrorists plots not for everyone. September 12, 2008

Vicky Cristina Barcelona - PG-13 Great, funny, best Woody since "Match Point" and best comedy since "Manhattan". Perofrmances fabulous especially Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz. The Barcelona setting is shot so beautifully and music appropriate. Keep this stuff coming! August 23, 2008

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - PG-13 enjoyable if not overly stereotyped characters with Brendan Fraser and Maria Bello returning to the roles. Both Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh are welcome additions. The amount spend on CGI must have been enormous. I'll be interetsed to see if it can recoup costs. August 14, 2008

The Dark Knight - PG-13 Superb performances and not one for the kiddies. A little over long but excellent character development and chilling performace from Heath Ledger. August 10, 2008

Get Smart - PG-13 My expectations were pretty low after living the classic tv show but I was pleasantly surprised. Anne Hathaway is a fantastic Agent 99 and while Steve Carell brings in own slightly different interpretation to the role of Max, he's ok. There's enough to keep old fans and new fans interested. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - PG-13 It's ok. Some laughs and it improves nesr the end but the middle is..boring. Ranking this one number 3 in the series behind "Raiders" and "Last Crusade" and ahead of "Temple of Doom" June 16, 2008
