Every moment of this film draws me in and I still find myself blubbing uncontrollably every time I watch it. Totally heartwrenchingly beautiful.

The replacement of her historical self harm with an S/M relationship is completely believable and beautifully portrayed. Not simply sexual, the exploration of both main characters mental weaknesses and how they overcome them with the trust they have in each other is a window into how positive this kind of relationship can be.
