1
The Blues Brothers (1980,  R)
The Blues Brothers
A fantestic film with the added bonus of complete silliness and ecellent music.
2
Face (1997,  R)
Face
A highly under-rated, gritty film with excellent performances from Carlyle, Winstone and Davis. Well worth a watch.
3
Highlander (1986,  R)
Highlander
Infinitely better than the sub-standard "sequels" that followed. Ok, so the effects are a bit ropey, but with a story this good, you can even forgive Sean Connery's Egyptian character's Scottish accent!!
4
Children of Men (2006,  R)
Children of Men
So thought-provoking and disturbing. FANTASTIC. (And no, I haven't read the book. Yet.)
5
Fever Pitch (1997,  R)
Fever Pitch
The book is great, and this film is comparable (if only "based" on the book). Ok, so I am biased because it's about Arsenal, but it could be about any fan of any sport (although, judging by the American remake, not successfully!).
6
Seven (Se7en) (1995,  R)
Seven (Se7en)
An amazingly dark and disturbing thriller. Freeman and Pitt are exceptional as the detectives reluctantly thrust together to solve the brutal murders committed by an evil serial killer
7
Alien (1979,  R)
Alien
The ultimate sci-fi/horror motion picture. Ridley Scott's film is, in my opinion, the best of a great bunch. It's more about what you DON'T see, than what you do. A classic.

300 (2007,  R)
300
Such a fantastic film - mixes comic bookartistry and fantasy with Greek legend. Ok, so it may not be to everyone's tastes as it is extremely violent and bloody, but hey, that's what those sort of battles were like.
9
GoodFellas (1990,  R)
GoodFellas
Top quality performances (as ever) from Liotta, Pesci and De Niro. Aside from the first 2 Godfather films, this has to be the best gangster film of all time. Violent, bloody, at times very funny ("funny how...?") - this film has it all. And to top it all, it's based on a true story!
10
Let Him Have It (1992,  R)
Let Him Have It
A fantastic, but ultimately tragic true story of a disgraceful miscarriage of justice. The performance from Ecclestone as the epileptic lad with learning difficulties should have earnt him many awards. One of the only films that gets me emotional.
