Up in the Air - R In my opinion, this film is the best display of Clooney's actingin his entire career. Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick also made this film a pleasure to watch. Hard to believe that this was an independent film- definetely a must see film filled with humor and though provoking points. I guarantee it was one of the best films of 2009. Hopefully the Academy agrees :) I'm crossing my fingers for it. Go see it--everyone can relate to this film! January 3, 2010

Sherlock Holmes - PG-13 Yes. 4 stars! :) okay, so I know it's just supposed to be this boring detective film...BUT its actually an addictive taste of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as a team. The case was intense from beginning to end. I was in love with the ensemble.. I mean other than Kelly Reilly (who played Watson/Jude Law's fiance in the film), who I perceived as too bitchy. but if anything, that's really my only complaint. Good aspects: sound editing, editing, musical score, costume design and set design. (I mean other than the awesome acting that proves Robert Downey Jr. deserves all the success he's getting). DEFINETELY a must-see. :) Plus, Jude Law is really hot and the screenplay is filled with tons of humor! December 30, 2009

It's Complicated - R Better than I expected. Some good jokes and awesome score by Hanz Zimmer. (Meyers tends to appeal to middle aged women..ex. "The Holiday"). Obviously, being 18, I'm not the ideal audience for a film like this...considering the audience was women (and some men) 40 and over. Or a date movie for older couple--a romantic comedy targeted at them. Since I'm not in any of those categories, the film was not among my favorites of this year. Still, Baldwin's hilarious acting made the movie def worth seeing...once. December 30, 2009

Avatar - PG-13 Now this is what a movie should be. A 3D adventure that makes you feel as though you are in an entirely different planet. The effects themselves are true perfection; the motion-tracking CGI makes it something that no one has ever seen before. This film gives audience the "oh my god im gonna crap my pants" feeling. that's what a real film does. Oh and Sam Worthington? WOW. just if that or the effects don't convince you then think of it this way. James Cameron spent 15 years of his life (with only 1 day off) on this film. Are you honestly saying you can't take 2.5-3 hours of YOUR precious time to go see it? Because seriously- it's completely and totally worth it. December 24, 2009

The Twilight Saga: New Moon - PG-13 Being totally honest, went with the sole intention of making fun of the film. However, turned out not to be nearly as bad as I thought. While much of the screenplay is quite laughable, let's face it:still not as bad as "Jennifer's Body". Lauter and Pattinson provide eye candy for the audience, which is why much of the audience went in the first place. I mean, the acting wasn't great on any particular actor's behalf but the majority of the ensemble was incredible next to the pathetic attempts made by Kristen Stewart. Most of her facial expressions are the same in every situation and her "cries" in her dreams sound more like...well you know..*coughs*. A definite step-up and surprisingly enjoyable experience compared to that of "Twilight". I might actually go see "Eclipse". November 22, 2009

Law Abiding Citizen - R WAY better than I expected. critics make it out to be a complete failure but the fairly impressive acting of Butler almost made me forget about the crap that was "the ugly truth" and remember his talent in "300". somewhere in the middle, he plays an interesting role with scarily realistic facial expressions. Outside his regular norm, I had to give this movie props. Foxx on the other hand, never really been my favorite. Always playing the same role, this time outshined by Butler. In order for this film to rock (while the audience connects), the tension between these characters need to be further emphasized to the audience. Overall, very entertaining thriller that stands out from the other sap fests and ghost flicks that seem to be the norm this season. Although some of the deaths were quite graphic for a film of this type, it was enjoyable to see the plot unfold. For fans of: "Untraceable", "The Bourne Identity", "The Italian Job", "Crank", "Saw".
