American Beauty (1999, R)
I think this is the best movie i've ever seen. Its potrayal of the life of a 42 year old man(Lester Burnham) in modern suburban America was deeply human, especially his mid-life crisis. The Screenplay,Cinematography,Soundtrack and performances were all top notch(no wonder it won Best Picture). My favourite character was actually Carolyn Burnham, who was very disturbed within but yet humourous!Unique with its surprising twists, dark humour, mystery.etc This is a flat out masterpiece.Look Closer!!! |

Monster's Ball (2001, R)
For the only Movie soo far to win an African-American Lady the Best Actress Oscar,i was definetely compelled to watch this movie.A dark drama with romance undertones,it shows how two people from different worlds bonded due to their common sense of loss(Hank and Leticia both loosing their sons).I was actually more impressed with Billy Bob Thortons acting and felt Halle Berrys performance was at her best in the legendary sex scene...... |

There Will Be Blood (2007, R)
Well, this is not exactly what an average movie watcher looks for in a movie! But its quite an intelligent movie showing the sruggle between religion and ambition.Daniel Day Lewis and Paul Dano were brillant especially Paul Dano as a hypocritical pastor. This might be a critics delight but it didnt really work for me. |

Michael Clayton (2007, R)
Well it was quite a brilliant Law drama, however to fully grasp this movie you have to watch it with subtitling because the dialogue was with too many unfamiliar terms for a layman and you also need to sit down and fully concentrate.Tom Wilkinsons completely stole the show with his performance which i think was more intriguing than that of George Clooney... |

The Last King of Scotland (2006, R)
Forrest Whitaker delivers a solid performance in the potrayal of the sadist,humanflesh-eating and sometimes comical past president(dictator) of Uganda,Idi Amin.Though this Movie is only about 60% historically accurate,it explores another side of Idi Amin i.e his relationship with his personal physician,Scottish born Dr. Garrigan ,from Idi Amins initial fascination with him, chronichling down to his immense hatred for the Scot,Last King of Scotland was definitely worth all the Hype! |

Little Children (2006, R)
First of all seemed to me like a "Desperate Housewives" wannabe movie, but i quickly got drawn into the movie. The use of a voice over narrator was also very good.Satirical, yet deeply human and disturbing,a twisted look at the boring lives of married couples and the life of a pedophile played suberbly by Jackie Earle Haley.Great acting by Kate Winslet also, but i felt Jennifer Connellys screen time was too limited! |

Ok,the 1st time i saw this movie,i was very impatient and could'nt really appreciate it.However, the 2nd time i saw it,i was totally blown away....Anthony Hopkins was BRILLANT as Hannibal Lecter even though his screen time was less than 20 minutes!!!I also love how the title was derived.Great Movie.... |
