Nikita (La Femme Nikita)

Criticised for style over substance. Is that such a bad thing? This film is a classic. By far my favourite Luc Besson film and that is a bold statement considering Besson also made the classic Leon. So good it spawned an American remake a TV series and numerous imitators. Would we have Naked Weapon, Kill Bill and the TV show Alias without Nikita?
Run Lola Run (Lola rennt)

80 min’s of perfection. There isn’t a wasted moment in this movie. The back storey is show in quick still images reminiscent of La Jetee. The storey is very simple but everyone I know who has seen it reads different things into it. Love, hate, life, death, passion, anger, greed, politics, religion, action, society, human nature, hope; what ever you are looking for you will find somewhere in the storey. The start Franka Potente has made the jump to Hollywood and become a household name, the director Tom Tykwer is not as well known but his other films are well worth a viewing.
