1
Je Vous Salue, Marie (Hail Mary) (1985,  Unrated)
Je Vous Salue, Marie (Hail Mary)
my favorite movie for so many strange reasons.
saul bass said design is thinking made visual. fool's a thinker.
2
Stroszek (1977,  Unrated)
Stroszek
inimitable.
3
The Brown Bunny (2004,  Unrated)
The Brown Bunny
essentially a perfect movie, my only hang up, he could have cut to black the second he entered the motel.
4
Badlands (1973,  PG)
Badlands
a good date movie.
5
Days of Heaven (1978,  PG)
Days of Heaven
just a hair below badlands, if only for richard gere, who surprsingly isn't bad. great style, some amazing fleeting moments captured.
6
Repeated Absences (Absences repetees) (1972,  Unrated)
Repeated Absences (Absences repetees)
more and more this movie sticks in my mind, having only seen it once and knowing next to nothing about it.
7
Apocalypse Now (1979,  R)
Apocalypse Now
it's the best.
8
Streetwise (1984,  Unrated)
Streetwise
a little all over the place, but where it goes is somewhere special and unique. in every story there's a movie, and maybe that's its flaw, but also its grace--never pandering to subject or audience by glorifying any single situation.
9
Julien Donkey-Boy (1999,  R)
Julien Donkey-Boy
sorta like abstract painting insofar as in its attempt at purity it ends up limiting itself...but really who loses, it was probably made for free--and there are some really amazing moments.
10
Kärlekshistoria, En, (A Swedish Love Story) (1970,  Unrated)
Kärlekshistoria, En, (A Swedish Love Story)
truly unique. and social commentary withstanding, a strangely good story about young love almost never seen.
11
Hoop Dreams (1994,  PG-13)
12
Syndromes and a Century (Sang sattawat) (2007,  Unrated)
