Donnie Darko
R
one of my very top favorite films of all time. its just.. everything peices together. so many scenes seem detached on their own but slot in perfectly with the music or other little bits. I LOVE the music in this movie. 'Manipulated Living' is the music we hear when donnie slips further into insanity and it admirably freaky. im very proud to say after watching it alot, and navigating the wierd ass webiste I actually UNDERSTAND the plot of this fim. seriously.

Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children
PG-13
ok so I love final fantasy, but this is still a great movie! the plot follows right on from the game and assumes you have cleared the whole thing AND understood a VERY complex plot. i you havn't, you may get a bit lost here. still, the music for this is spot on. the action is incredibly fast paced and uses the lack of realism in the series to its advantage with epic matrix beating moves that are slick and stylish. clouds divide between his love for tifa and his friends and the guilt he feels for the death of Aerith is very obvious but in no way less moving for those who have seen the infamous death of aeris scene. I will always love this film for the nostalgia and for its action

The Fifth Element
PG-13
brilliant science fiction in a world that seems so vividly real. this isnt shiney sci fi, this is sci fir with real people really living in it amongst an epic story, and this goes further to make the charachters more lifelike absurd and entertaining than all the brilliant acting that does go into it. from the tiniest details to the most epic space ship, this film is packed with all the markings of a classic. everything from humour to action in one of my favorite films!
5.
Akira
R
One of the greatest anime films of all time, forget everything you think about pokemon yugioh and the other shit americanized saturday morning crap, this is classic anime and a classic film. It created the original post-apocalyptic mega city scene that is found in so many other films and somehow manages to contort years and years of long grpahic novels into a single film that whilst confusing, set the stage for anime in america, and set a new standard for anime everywhere.
6.
Serenity
PG-13
Thank god that such a unapreciated series managed to make it to filmhood. Serenity has all the marks of classic space bound science fiction in a remarkable real and well thought universe. fans of the original 'Firefly' series on which it is based will feel right at home, and those who havnt dont miss out on any plot holes as the film brilliantly sums up the series, knowing when to change the plot in orfder to fit the film format. Actioin packed and underrated Sci Fi.
