One of those movies that's so intellectually intense you're not sure what to make of it when the credits start to roll, but the more it sinks in the more you grow to love it. It blew my mind.
Guilty pleasure. Believe it or not, the 5 HOURS flew by as I became enraptured by both the plot-line and affected speach. Not to mention Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy...
Artfully done. An interesting character study, though not much plot besides. A bit hard to follow exactly what is going on, though it all comes together in the end.
As a somewhat queasy person, I found the gore a little overkill, but the stylish-ness (in both acting, line-delivery, and cinematography) blew me away.
I don't care what anyone says, I LOVE THIS MOVIE! Theological and supernatural thriller all in one! Plus Gavin Rossdale as Balthazar could not have been more perfectly cast. So awesome.
Good ol' murder mystery with a twist. The focus on the servants lives was compelling. Shows a side of society not normally dealt with in period pieces. Found it interesting. Plus a stellar cast.
The horrible lives of the girls are like a trainwreck from which you cannot look away. It's heart-wrenching and leaves you hating the church and society, yet the girls' perserverance and ultimate success in freeing themselves makes for one of those inspirational "surviving against all odds" type of movies (à la Shawshank).
One of those movies that takes a while to sink in. You like it the more you think about the intricacies of it. Also, the tying in of characters from around the world who have been touched by the violin was intriguing.
