Once Upon a Time in the West (C'era una volta il West) (1968,  PG-13)
Once Upon a Time in the West (C'era una volta il West)
Easily my favorite film of all times. I have watched it at least 10-15 times and love it even more every time I watch it.
2
Barry Lyndon (1975,  PG)
Barry Lyndon
Definitely a forgotten Kubrick classic that shows his eye for detail and the painstaking amount of time he spent researching for his Napoleon movie he never got to make. This is one of those movies that takes multiple views to truely apprichate it's merits. I orginally did not care much for this film, but after watching it a second time I feel in love with the epic scale of the film. The costumes, the set design, the lighting, music and just about everything about this film is just beautiful. It's just amazing how Kubrick used mostly candles to light all the indoor scenes. I personally think this is Kubrick's best film.
3
Ran (1985,  R)
Ran
This is my favorite Kurosawa film, which is saying a lot considering I love every single movie Kurosawa directed (yes, even Dreams)
4
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring (2003,  R)
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring
Breathtaking film. Words can't describe how well directed this movie is. The movie has maybe 10 lines worth of dialog, but has one of the most moving stories ever.
5
Chinjeolhan geumjassi (Lady Vengeance) (Sympathy for Lady Vengeance) (2005,  R)
Chinjeolhan geumjassi (Lady Vengeance) (Sympathy for Lady Vengeance)
Beautifully shot and wonderfully put together. It's just a treat to watch the film even if you don't have subtitles to follow the plot. The story itself is a big departure for Chan-wook Park from his previous themes.
6
The River (1959,  Unrated)
The River
Beautiful colors and amazing cinematography. It's almost like the characters take a back seat and the focus is mostly on the colorful landscapes of India. This is easily Renoir's best film, at least the best out of all his films that I have watched.
7
Vertigo (1958,  PG)
Vertigo
My favorite Hitchcock film.
8
Miller's Crossing (1990,  R)

Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes (Aguirre, the Wrath of God)
An almost perfect film by Herzog, with some of the most amazing nature shots I have ever seen in any films. Klaus Kinski performance as the crazy Aguirre is absolutely frightening. A film everyone needs to watch at least once!
10
Kannathil Muthamittal (A Peck on the Cheek) (2002,  Unrated)
Kannathil Muthamittal (A Peck on the Cheek)
A very touching story about an adopted girl's search for her real mother. Most of the movie is set in the heartland of Sri Lanka, during the revolt by certain terrorist groups. Beautifully directed and very well acted; this has to be one of the best Indian movies I have ever watched. It's a shame very few people have ever watched or even heard of this movie.

Rocco e i suoi fratelli (Rocco and His Brothers) (1960,  Unrated)
Rocco e i suoi fratelli (Rocco and His Brothers)
Classic Italian film about a family that moves from the farm to a city and how that affects their lives. The story is told in parts, with each part being in the perspective of one of the brothers.
14
Koyaanisqatsi - Life Out of Balance (1983,  Unrated)
Koyaanisqatsi - Life Out of Balance
A beautiful documentary that does not use a narrator or any form of verbal communication to convey it's message. Instead the whole movie is composed of breathtaking clips of everyday life in today's world. The background music is absolutely fantastic and the fast motion editing is very well done. Masterpiece in every sense.

20
Fireworks (Hana-bi) (1997,  Unrated)
Fireworks (Hana-bi)
One of the best Beat Takeshi films I have watched so far. A very well paced neo-noir crime drama about an ex-cop dealing with his daughter's death and his dying wife. A very sad film, that does not dwell on violence but focuses more on the effects of it.
21
The Thin Red Line (1999,  R)
The Thin Red Line
One of the best war films ever made simply because of it's amazing directing and powerful war message.
22
Heat (1995,  R)
Heat
While the team up of De Niro and Pacino is usually listed as the main highlight of the film, I personally find Micheal Mann's masterful directing and the entire cast's great acting to be the most enjoyable aspects of this great heist film. Almost feels like a homage to Riffi
23
Ladri di Biciclette (The Bicycle Thief) (Bicycle Thieves) (1949,  Unrated)
Ladri di Biciclette (The Bicycle Thief) (Bicycle Thieves)
Powerful classic Italian film.

Another great Coen brothers movie. Funny as hell and wild characters. There are so many memorable lines and scenes in this movie.
29
Roma, città aperta (Open City) (1945,  Unrated)
Roma, città aperta (Open City)
A masterpiece by Rossellini about a resistance movement during WWII in an Italian city. Shot during the last days of the war with barely any budget and unprofessional actors. This movie was ahead of it's time with it's themes, characters and story. Must watch Italian classic!
30
Kaubôi Bibappu: Tengoku no Tobira (Cowboy Bebop the Movie: Knockin' on Heaven's Door) (2003,  R)
Kaubôi Bibappu: Tengoku no Tobira (Cowboy Bebop the Movie: Knockin' on Heaven's Door)
Fantastic film that really makes you forget it's animated after the first 15 minutes. A very engaging story with some of the best animation I have ever seen.
31
Citizen Kane (1941,  PG)
Citizen Kane
To be honest I really don't care much about the actual plot of the film. I found the splintered narrative style to be for most part a distracting gimmick that keeps you away from actually understanding what kind of man Kane was.

But maybe that was the point Welles was trying to make? To show that no human can that easily be understood or classified. I can't claim to know the answer, but I am very much impressed by the directing style and the relevance of this film.
32
The Matrix (1999,  R)
The Matrix
Amazing visuals and very intresting story. Shame the had to screw up by trying to make the sequals more complex.
33

Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

34
Chinatown (1974,  R)
Chinatown
A landmark film noir movie. One of my all time favorite movies. Nicholson is excellent as Jake in this film.
35
The Untouchables (1987,  R)

This is such a badass movie. Sean Connery and De Niro in a same movie is an instant win! DePalma is great again with his exellent camera shots and placements.
36
The Magnificent Seven (1960,  Unrated)
The Magnificent Seven
A kickass Western based of Seven Samurai. As much as I dislike remakes, this is definitely a movie I make an exception to. An all star cast with some really cool gun fights.

Il conformista (The Conformist)
Best cinematography ever. I absolutely love this film.
38
The Elephant Man (1980,  PG)
The Elephant Man
Not as crazy as rest of Lynch movies, but still very different from usual Hollywood bio pictures. Tells a touching tale about a gentle man with the figure of a "monster".
39
Dog Day Afternoon (1975,  R)
Dog Day Afternoon
One of the best performances by Pacino. Also has John Cazale, another amazing actor who would have become as famous as De Niro or Pacino if he lived long enough to make more movies.
40
Scarface (1983,  R)
Scarface
One of the coolest gangster movies ever made with the most amount of quotable lines. Who can forget Tony Montana? De Palma did any amazing job with the camera shots and placement.
41
Trainspotting (1996,  R)
Trainspotting
Drugs, prostitution, death and stealing. All in a days work for this group of friends. A very interesting and sometimes humorous look at their hedonistic life style.
42
Downfall (Der Untergang) (2004,  R)
Downfall (Der Untergang)
The actor who portrayed Hitler in this movie was robbed of his Oscar. A very powerful film.
43
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007,  R)
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Easily the best movie of the year so far. While it tends to be slow at some parts, the way the movie was shot just makes it hard for you to turn away or not be in awe with the amazing actors. Casey Affleck better get atleast a nomination for his creepy portrayal of Robert Ford.

Andrew Dominik's slow and lingering directing style is absolutely breathtaking because of it's scope and framing of the shots. I can't wait for the DVD to come out so I can rewatch it again.
44
M (1931,  Unrated)
M
One of the first serial killer movies ever made. A very gritty and creepy film.

Kôkaku kidôtai (Ghost in the Shell) (Shell Mobile Force)
Amazing ground breaking anime that is bases for so many movies, games and other animes. This movie really makes you think
47
Twelve Monkeys (12 Monkeys) (1995,  R)
Twelve Monkeys (12 Monkeys)
A very "realistic" time travel film that more about the characters & the story than the technology, unlike most sci-fi movies. Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt gave arguably their best performance every in this movie.
48
Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (2005,  R)
Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
You don't see movies as funny as this often and you don't see writers turning into good directors all that often either. Downey and Kilmer put of the best performances of their career in this smart, funny and suspenseful movie. I love all the little jokes about Hollywood throughout the film.
49
Lust, Caution (Se jie) (2007,  R)
Lust, Caution (Se jie)
I originally had very little interest in this film, mostly due to not being a big fan of Ang Lee's recent work and also all the hype surrounding the sex scenes. I felt the popularity/hype of the movie was just because of the controversy, similar to how it was back in the day with the overrated Bertolucci's film, Last Tango In Paris.

But after getting a chance to watch this film last night I realized how wrong I was to judge this film without watching it. This is one of the most emotionally poignant films I have ever watched. Wei Tang and always amazing Tony Leung were exceptional as the main leads and all the supporting actors were brilliantly cast. The acting is absolutely top notch and these actors convey more feeling with their facial expressions that even than even pages worth of dialogues would not express. Especially at the heartbreaking ending where the actors practically speak with their facial expressions.

I always felt what separates a great director from a passable director is subtlety and not underestimating the audience intelligence. Ang Lee showed amazing amount of restraint when making this film, which allowed the film story to unfold and the actors to work unobtrusively. There is absolutely no flashy shots or lingering clichéd scenes that are meant to explain everything easily to the audience. A lesser director would have ruined the movie by using title cards to signify the time/location changes, probably trimmed down the explicit sex scenes and extended/exploited the few violence filled scenes.

Instead Ang Lee craftily made the whole movie about the tense emotions and inner struggles of each characters, which allowed even the small side characters seem to come alive.

I just can't say enough great things about this film and I could probably go on for pages about the merits of the film, but that would be pointless. I am very sad that I missed seeing this film in theaters when I had the chance because watching this visually arresting movie on the big screen would have been an awe-inspiring experience. So don't miss out on this film and rent/buy it NOW!
50
Being John Malkovich (1999,  R)
Being John Malkovich
One of most innovative movies I have every watched. Beautifully directed and amazing acting. I love how the Sci-Fi aspects of the story takes a backseat to the human drama in the movie.
51
The Matrix Reloaded (2003,  R)
The Matrix Reloaded
Lot of people hate this sequel, but I actually very much enjoyed the crazy plot and the amazing special effects.
52
A Clockwork Orange (1971,  R)
A Clockwork Orange
A classic Kubrick film.
53
Cool Hand Luke (1967,  Unrated)
Cool Hand Luke
I watched this movie ages back as a kid and had fond memories of it but never could remember it's name. But I finally found the DVD at best buy and got around to re watching again; and all I can say is that's a perfect film.

Some of the best performances I have ever seen and a very well balanced story arc. While the whole Christan themes and JC references seemed a bit forced towards end (the movie in a way a contemporary retelling of JC's story) I really felt for Luke and his sense of indifference with everything around him.

And the directing and cinematography is breathtaking and probability the best I have seen in a movie from 1960s.
54
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1999,  R)

57
Kill Bill, Volume 2 (2004,  R)

Lat sau san taam (Hard-Boiled)
I wish John Woo still made movies like this.
61
Down by Law (1986,  R)
Down by Law
Another excellent movie by Jarmusch about 3 guys in the same prison cell and their adventures after escaping from the prison.Tom Waits and Roberto Benigni were born to play these roles, but the real stars of the movie are the script and cinematography. It's great how Jarmusch directed an entire movie based of such a simple premise.
62
Casino (1995,  R)
Casino
Somewhat similar to GoodFellas, but not really. A very diffrent type of film with the familar actors. Sharon Stone is great in it and rest of the cast is teriffic as usual.
63
Pulp Fiction (1994,  R)
Pulp Fiction
I love this movie, one of my all time favorite movies.
64
Koroshiya 1 (Ichi the Killer) (2001,  R)
Koroshiya 1 (Ichi the Killer)
Sick, twisted and strangely humorous. You'll either love this movie or hate it, but everyone needs to watch it for the completely weird plot and the over the top violence.
65
Serpico (1973,  R)
Serpico
Great cop film and one of the best roles Pacino played. The whole movie has a very 70s feel to it.
66
Gangs of New York (2002,  R)
Gangs of New York
Fucking love it! I don't understand why so many people complain about this movie, but is is another Marty classic film. And Daniel Lewis was amazing as The Butcher.
67
The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976,  PG)
The Outlaw Josey Wales
A huge departure from Clint's usual western roles and a very character driven story, which is extremely rare in the western genre. The first half is like a slow paced chase movie and the other half is about defending their territory, which are both usually major themes in lot of westerns. But the way this film brings out these elements is just amazing!
68
Scent of a Woman (1992,  R)
Scent of a Woman
Fucking fantastic performance by Al.
69
Glengarry Glen Ross (1992,  R)
Glengarry Glen Ross

JSA: Joint Security Area (Gongdong gyeongbi guyeok JSA)
A very powerful story about a friendship that grows between a group of soldiers on the border of North and South Korea.
76
Lawrence of Arabia (1962,  PG)
Lawrence of Arabia
Epic is the only word I can use to describe this movie. Story takes some time to pick up, but Lawrence's struggle in the Arab world really pulls you in. Best cinematography outside of Kubrick movies!
77
L.A. Confidential (1997,  R)
L.A. Confidential
A must watch film noir!

81
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008,  PG-13)
82
Man on Fire (2004,  R)
Man on Fire
One of the best revenge movies ever made. I wish Tony Scott made more movies like this instead of wasting his time in the editing room adding random music video effects to his films.
83
Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi) (2001,  PG)
Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi)
A very heartwarming and beautiful film about a girl's journey through a secret world full of fancy creatures you would only find in Miyazaki films. Alice in Wonderland of our generation!
84
Yeopgijeogin geunyeo (My Sassy Girl) (2001,  Unrated)
Yeopgijeogin geunyeo (My Sassy Girl)
As far as romantic comedies go, this is the best one I have ever seen. Ji-hyun Jun's performance in this movie is just hilarious.
85
Brick (2006,  R)
Brick
A great Film Noire story that is set in present day California High School. Wonderful script with some very sharp lines and great acting by the amateurish actors. The whole movie was made with a budget less than half a million.
86
Escape from New York (1981,  R)
Escape from New York
Another Carpenter classic. This man makes some amazing genre films with a shoe string budget. Kurt Russell is such a badass in this movie.
87
Happiness (1998,  Unrated)
Happiness
sick, twisted and wrong in many ways. Yet very insightful and wildly funny. You'll either love the movie or hate the movie, but you will be shocked by how frankly this movie covers all the taboo subjects that are usually not present in a Hollywood film.
88
The Truman Show (1998,  PG)
The Truman Show
Awesome performance by Jim Carrey. A very touching and satirical story about a man trapped inside of a reality TV show.

Classic Bruce Lee movie. I love all the fights in the movie. Well known for it's kickass fight scene in the room filled with mirrors.
90
The Proposition (2005,  R)
The Proposition
Amazing movie with such raw images and story. Great acting all around. Everyone must watch this movie.
91
Batman (1989,  PG-13)
Batman
While the story was trash and the bold gothic setting Burton created for this movie is good enough reason to watch this movie. Lets not forget the great acting by Keaton and Nicholson in it.
92
Batman Begins (2005,  PG-13)
Batman Begins
Christan Bale as Bruce Wayne and Nolan as the director? What more could a Batman fan want?
93
Ikiru (Doomed) (Living) (To Live) (1952,  PG)
Ikiru (Doomed) (Living) (To Live)
A very touching story about a dying man's struggle to leave his mark on the world. A very sad and depressing tale with a very strong moral message that makes you rethink the value and usefulness of your existence. Would the world be a diffrent place if you were never born?

Akira Kurasawa proves again with this film why he is the master of film making.
94
Hustle & Flow (2005,  R)
Hustle & Flow
I absolutely love this movie on every level. The directing, the actors, the soundtrack, everything is absolutely perfect. While the movie follows the usual format of whole "trying to reach your dream" type movies like Rocky and so forth, the way Craig Brewer presents the story and the pimp live is something worth watching at least once. I really enjoyed the gritty approach to the story and the very in your face realism to the characters and the plot.Terrence Howard's performance as the pimp was amazing and one of the best breakthrough performances I have ever seen.
95
Punch-Drunk Love (2002,  R)
Punch-Drunk Love
Best Adam Sandler movie ever. A very diffrent and well done Romantic comedy with a very art house film style directing.
96
Big Trouble in Little China (1986,  PG-13)
Big Trouble in Little China
Such a fun film to watch that does not take itself serious. The special effects hold their own even today. And Kurt Russell is a badass in this film just like all other Carpenter films he has been in.
97
Nobody Knows (Dare mo shiranai) (2004,  PG-13)
Nobody Knows (Dare mo shiranai)
A very depressing and touching story about a family of children who are abandoned by their mother in Tokyo for over 9 months. Very well directed, but some of the lingering slow shots kind of slowed down the pacing of the movie.
98
The New World (2005,  PG-13)
The New World
This is one of those films you either love or hate. There is no middle ground with it. Majority of the movie is very visual with very little dialogue, but I never once felt the need for it when Malick conveyed the feelings of the characters and the plot visually.
99
Ghost Dog - The Way of the Samurai (2000,  R)
Ghost Dog - The Way of the Samurai
Forest Whitaker gives a breakout performance as the silent killer, Ghost Dog, with a very keen sense of honor code followed by Samurai. This weird blend of mafia and Samurai films is something only Jarmusch can pull off. Also the movie would not be the same without the amazing soundtrack by RZA.
100
Coffee and Cigarettes (2004,  R)
Coffee and Cigarettes
A great collection of short films Jim Jarmusch shot throughout his career using numerous big actors from the cult film community. The only relation each films have with each other is that the actors are drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes while they discuss diffrent aspects of life with each other. Some of the films are existential, some are humorous and some of them are plain weird. But when you put all of them together in one DVD, it's a every Jarmusch fan's dream.
101
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (Boksuneun naui geot) (2002,  R)
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (Boksuneun naui geot)
i was originally disappointed by this movie because I watched this after seeing the very stylish Lady Vengeance and Old Boy.

But after giving it an another try, I ended up loving the movie's very raw film making style and the stripped out performance of the actors where they did not show wide range of emotions intentionally.

Plus the story is something you can revisit multiple times without getting bored, unlike Oldboy, which gets boring once you know the "twists"
102
The Weather Man (2005,  R)
The Weather Man
I just loved this movie's grim tone and very real story about a family man who is gaining and losing things in life.
103

104
Tokyo Story (Tôkyô monogatari) (1953,  Unrated)
105

Oldboy
Fantastic film.
106
La Dolce Vita (1960,  Unrated)
La Dolce Vita
Landmark Italian film by the world famous director, Fellini.
107
Last Life in the Universe (2004,  R)
Last Life in the Universe
Intentionally slow paced to create a very dream like feel. One of those movies you can easily fall in love with because of the amazing visuals.
108
Ab Tak Chhappan (2004,  Unrated)
Ab Tak Chhappan
I absolutely love this film for it's very gritty crime drama story. One of the best Indian films that goes against all the usual Bollywood trademarks without losing it's unique India feel. You won't find fancy songs, dramatic fight scenes or larger than life villains in this movie. Instead it's a revenge story about a Police officer going against the criminals in his own methods while dealing with corrupt bosses.
109
Yuva (2004,  Unrated)
Yuva
This movie connects the lives of three strangers after an accident on a bridge causes one of them to almost die. The movie illustrates the current political situation in India and the different faces of the youth in the country.
110
Maqbool (2003,  Unrated)
111
Omkara (2006,  Unrated)
Omkara
Brilliant script, excellent acting and superb directing & cinematography. The movie is a very gritty adaptation of the famous Shakespeare play, Othello. I honestly think this is the best adaptation of Othello.

The movie uses all the usual Bollywood trademarks to it's advantage. Great songs that fit well into the story and add more to the movie atmosphere. Mainstream actors all roughed up for their roles. And set in a very rural part of India where current day technology is almost non-existent.

Where the movie really shines is in it's dialogs; which is a very gritty, slang filled regional dialect. I think you have to understand the language to fully apprichate this film, because the subtitles don't do it any justice.
112
Johnny Gaddaar (2007,  Unrated)
Johnny Gaddaar
I absolutely loved this film and it's easily my favorite Indian movie of the year. The retro style tied in with the noirish thriller story was very well executed. Almost all the new actors in the film were perfect for their roles and really made the characters come alive. But the highlight of the film is easily the script because of it's perfect ability to keep the audience at end of their seats for the whole movie. This is not a movie you can just relax and watch without paying attention to detail. Hopefully more Bollywood movies will try original ideas like this instead of rehashing older movies with big stars and huge effects.
113
Taxi Driver (1976,  R)
Taxi Driver
Another Scorsese and De Niro team up! I doubt I need to say too much about this great movie.

GoodFellas (1990,  R)
GoodFellas
Classic Scorsese movie with amazing performance by Joe Pesci and rest of the cast. I love the dark humor and the screwed up morals(or the lack of) in this movie.
115
Eraserhead (1977,  Unrated)
Eraserhead
My personal favorite Lynch movie. I was blown away by it the first time I watched it.
116
The Great Escape (1963,  Unrated)

Shaun of the Dead
So fucking hilarious!

Once Upon a Time in America (1984,  R)
Once Upon a Time in America
Only one word can describe this film: Masterpeice. Everything about this movie is top notch and grand in every sense. While the 3 hours plus run time might scare away a lot of people, I was engrossed by every minute of this movie and wished it was longer.

While the acting of the kids during the flashback sequences is a little weak, the performances by the other actors was absolutely phenomenal. James Wood stole the any scene he was in with his amazing performance and De Niro was absolutely perfect.

I always felt Good Bad and The Ugly was best Sergio Leone movie, but after watching this movie now I know that his best movie is Once Upon a Time In America. Not a lot of directors have the privilege to end their career on high note like Leone did.

Apocalypse Now (1979,  R)
Apocalypse Now
"The Horror, The Horror!"
120
Days of Heaven (1978,  PG)
Days of Heaven
Such a beautiful film. The plot is very basic, but the way Malick directed this film is quite amazing.
121
Videodrome (1983,  R)
Videodrome
David Cronenberg's mesmerizing masterpiece.
122
Rushmore (1998,  R)
Rushmore
Even though I love all of Wes Anderson films, he has yet to surpass this film and I honestly doubt if he ever will.
123
Boogie Nights (1997,  R)
Boogie Nights
A modern day masterpiece. PTA is a genius.
124
Requiem for a Dream (2000,  R)
Requiem for a Dream
A very shocking film about addiction and the effects of it on a group of individuals. Very well directed and has some awesome acting from actors I least expected to be able to perform in a movie like this.
125
Fight Club (1999,  R)
Fight Club
Edward Norton is great in it and the plot is so fucking orginal. Also I am a big fan of Chuck Palahniuk books so needless to say I love this movie.
126
Face/Off (1997,  R)
Face/Off
Only decent movie Woo made in Hollywood.
127
Sin City (2005,  R)
Sin City
A very enjoyable adaptation of Miller's gritty graphic novels. The wooden acting and style over substance directing can be a little too much at times, but overall a very enjoyable film.
128
The Thing (1982,  R)
The Thing
One of the best horror films ever and my favorite John Carpenter film.
129
Pi (1998,  R)
130
Mulholland Drive (2001,  R)
Mulholland Drive
Every time I finish watching this film, I want to start it back up again. David Lynch at top of his game. And has some great dark humor moments.
131
Blue Velvet (1986,  R)
Blue Velvet
Surreal Lynch masterpiece.
132
Jackie Brown (1997,  R)
Jackie Brown
Very underrated QT movie and disliked for wrong reasons. Everyone complains it's not filled with the usual pop culture referances Tarantino is known for, but they forget that this is an adaptation of a book QT wanted follow closly.
133
Office Space (1999,  R)
Office Space
One of the best comedies ever!
134
Fargo (1996,  R)
Fargo
I love this movie. The characters, the location, the shots, the script and everything else is just perfect. The best movie by Coen brothers.
135
Memento (2000,  R)
136
Desperado (1995,  R)
Desperado
Felt very much like a modern spaghetti western. El Maricahi is the Man with no name of our time.
137
American Psycho (2000,  R)
American Psycho
Patrick Bateman gives us all a look into his bored little life where he gets pleasures out of murdering homeless people and cutting up hookers. Fun for the whole family!
138
Do the Right Thing (1989,  R)
Do the Right Thing
Fabulous written and shot. Shows how much potential Spike Lee has (which he usually wastes on crappy racially charged movies).
139
25th Hour (2002,  R)
25th Hour
Spike Lee in my opinion has not done one single decent movie throughout the 90s. But finally after a losing streak he came out with this great film, where Norton gave on of his best performances.
140
Dead Ringers (1988,  R)
141
The Departed (2006,  R)
The Departed
Not exactly the best Scorsese film and almost feels like lazy directing compared to his usual style, but the great script and acting is just too good for anyone to not enjoy this film.
142
The Fountain (2006,  PG-13)
The Fountain
My personal favorite movie of 2006. Part love story, part science fiction and part drama. I haven't watched something this original and moving in a long while.
143
Children of Men (2006,  R)
Children of Men
Fucking fantastic, one of the best films of 2006. Beautifully shot and wonderfully written. The final 15 minutes track shot is just breathtaking. It's a travesty that this film did not win an Oscar.
144
The Prestige (2006,  PG-13)
The Prestige
An excellent film with a great cast. Nolan bought the story to life in such an amazing way.
145
Hot Fuzz (2007,  R)
Hot Fuzz
Fucking fantastic. A very funny script and awesome action scenes. I wish Hollywood would make more movies like this.
146
There Will Be Blood (2007,  R)
There Will Be Blood
Best movie of 2007 and quite possibility the best movie of the decade. Yes, it's that good. Lot has been said about this movie already so I won't waste my time praising the obvious merits of this film. GO WATCH IT NOW!
147
No Country for Old Men (2007,  R)
No Country for Old Men
One of the best movies of the year. Hell one of the best movies EVER. Javier Bardem better get at least a oscar nomination for his chilling performance. And the Coen brothers deserve an oscar for this masterpiece.

My only annoyance with the movie was the Tommy Lee Jones monologues throughout the movie. There were too many of them and felt like of forced. Apart from that, this movie is flawless in every way.
148
Eastern Promises (2007,  R)
Eastern Promises
An amazing take on "Crime Family" genre with Cronenberg's trademark shocking violence. Viggo better get ATLEAST an oscar nomination for his terrific performance. The accent, his mannerism, his hair...everything is so spot on.

I loved how the movie kept shifting back and forth between Viggo and Naomi's storyline to show how each of their acts is affecting the other person's life. Also the bathhouse fight scene was so sickingly realistic that I wished Cronenberg would go back to making his Body Horror films so I could see more effects like that.

My only complaint about the movie is the bland twist that completely ruined Viggo's character for me. It almost felt like a studio forced change to the script to make the audience feel at least a little better about caring for such a ruthless character. Also seemed like a half assed attempt to justify and explain the complex nature of Viggo's character. But overall a very gritty & diffrent film compared to all the other studio produced films out right now.
149
Zodiac (2007,  R)
150
Black Snake Moan (2007,  R)
Black Snake Moan
A very interesting and diffrent story compared to the usual Hollywood films. One of my favorite movies of 2007. While some of the plot elements seem unbelievable, the movie is meant to be taken as a fable that is meant to teach you a lesson.

Samuel L. Jackson gave one of his best performances to date and was just kickass as Lazarus. Also the soundtrack is absolutely amazing, I must have listened to the soundtrack at least 30 times by now.
151
The Darjeeling Limited (2007,  R)
152
Tropic Thunder (2008,  R)
Tropic Thunder
This is what a fucking comedy should be all about. Not a bunch of curse words and dick jokes for 2 hours like those Jude Apatow. While the satire is not exactly subtle, it's still hilarious and right on spot. The movie kind of drags in the middle but the overall package if awesome. Robert Downey Jr. was hilarious and the entire action scenes were great.

Also Tom Cruise fucking stole the show.
153
In Bruges (2008,  R)
