| The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 - R | It's kind of entertaining in a very stupid and unintentional way. Also is it just my imagination or is Travolta's character supposed to be homosexual...there was some very creepy sexual comments/tension between him and Denzel throughout the whole film... | August 20, 2009 | N/A | |||

| The Day the Earth Stood Still - PG-13 | I could not even finish watching it. The scenes were Neo tries to get used to his human body were painful to sit through. He is easily the worst AAA actor working in the industry right now. Also the film's plot is a nonsensical warning about the dangers of environmental damage and so forth; but honestly most of the plot was just an excuse to propel the movie from one CGI scene to the next. What a terrible fucking movie. | December 14, 2008 | N/A | |||

| Gomorrah (Gomorra) - Unrated |
Raw and brutal depiction of "real" Italy and the organized underworld that terrorizes everyone. The film is made up of 5 different stories that illustrate how the Italian underworld operates and how they influence everyone's day to day life. It's obvious that the director and the cinematographers tried hard to bring realism and authenticity to each and every scene of the film. Majority of the film was shot on hand held, with very minimal use of post production effects. Even the sound design was extremely minimalistic and mostly contained raw sound recordings of the locations. During the "normal" life scenes the film is very ugly to look at and the camera work is distractingly jerky and amateurish. But that style of camerawork worked wonderfully during any of the scenes directly dealing with the underworld or violence. Overall it's a very "powerful" film, but I really can't see myself watching this ever again. Most of the film unfolds very slowly and the short busts of violent scenes are usually follows up by slow paced random scenes regarding the characters' lives. |

| Slumdog Millionaire - R | I enjoyed the film, but I was not quite in tears by the end or completely in love with the film like most of the reviewers are. It was wonderfully shot and well edited, but personally I felt it was a well polished Bollywood story tailored for Western audience. It was almost like an Indian version of CITY OF GOD. In every scene Boyle made India look more and more like a shit hole and used that to manipulate emotions. It has it's share of typical award film flaws, but is overall enjoyable. | December 3, 2008 | N/A | |||
