| Quantum of Solace - PG-13 | Where the hell was the plot? Even the action scenes sucked ass. They basically turned James Bond into a generic action hero with Bourne-ish directing style for all the action scenes. You know a movie is bad when you feel sleepy during an action or chase scene. | November 23, 2008 | N/A | |||
| How to Lose Friends & Alienate People - R | It had it's moments, but for most part it is pretty forgettable. | November 23, 2008 | N/A | |||

| The Last Lear - Unrated |
What a brilliantly acted and beautifully written film. The acting is top notch and the plot is wonderfully complex. The Last Lear takes the simple premises of an aging theater actor and a young director making their masterpiece and develops a great character study. I absolutely love how they weaved in Shakespearean dialogue. I have always been a huge fan of director Rituparno Ghosh, but I rarely get a chance to watch most of his films because of how hard they are to find. Also the fact that most of them are in Bengali without any English subtitles does not help. |

| Låt den Rätte Komma In (Let the Right One in) - R |
Fantastic film. I am still letting it sink into me, but I think this might actually end up being my favorite film of 2008. It excellently portrays lot of vampire legends, while being very subtle about the whole subject matter. I love how restrained the directing was and how the real focus was not about how she was a vampire, but more about her relationship with the kid. Definitely a must watch film and will very quickly be classified as a classic. I can't wait to re-watch it again in a theater so I can witness the beautiful cinematography on big screen. |

| Rottweiler: Dogs of Hell - R |
Watched this at the Charlotte Film festival. I have to say watching this was one of the best theater experiences I have ever had. The whole crowd was laughing at every scene and every line of the dialogue. It felt like I was in some kind of grindhouse theater. Even though it was one of the worst films I have every watched, the TERRIBLE acting, the hilariously bad "3D" directing and the LOL dialogue made it the most enjoyable bad film I have ever watched. My jaw was hurting by end of the film because of how much I laughed. |

| Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans - Unrated |
Watched it at Charlotte Film Festival. Watching this movie on the big screen with live piano music to accompany it was an amazing experience that I doubt I will forget anytime soon. The cinematography in this film is just breathtaking and the story is so touching. Even though it's a silent film, I never felt the lack of dialogue keeping me from enjoying the film nor did I ever felt a need for dialogue. The acting was superb and the plot was surprisingly complex with character development (holy crap, in a SILENT FILM!) Now I want to watch rest of the films Murnau made! |

| Used Parts (Partes usadas) - Unrated |
Watched it at Charlotte Film Festival. I have very mixed feelings about this movie. While I loved the storyline and the characters the movie definitely lacked good pacing and a more refined acting. Sometimes the movie felt like it was dragging with random scenes just to add run time. Also the directing felt very pedestrian with a bland point and shoot directing approach. Essentially it could have been trimmed down to a 45 minutes short film and still kept all the interesting scenes, but I don't know if would have been just as powerful. But overall I really enjoyed it and I think it might be my favorite movie at the Charlotte Film Festival. It felt like a low key La Haine or City of God in Mexico; only without the stylish directing. |

| War Eagle, Arkansas - PG-13 |
Watched it at Charlotte film festival. One of those usual award bait films that usually go around the film circuit. This one is about the friendship between a physically challenged man and a baseball player with speak impediment. While I very much enjoyed watching the film I did find it to be very cliched in the way the story developed and how the characters were used. It was very manipulative of the viewers emotions and not a very memorable film. But the acting was top notch. |
