For a movie directed by the Dardenne brothers, this is somewhat disappointing. With only a couple memorable and mind-blowing scenes, the story eventually becomes predictable and uncompelling.
Staggering and beautiful look at redemption. Gourmet is magnificent in his tour-de-force performance as a woodworker who hesitantly accepts a new kid in rehabilitation center but follows him in the streets, discreetly. Another must-see from the Dardenne brothers.
Excellent stoner comedy finds four friends having amnesia over wacky night in Las Vegas. One of the funniest movies of the year. The Pineapple Express of 2008 and the Superbad of 2007.
Beautiful look at boredom is intricately simple and interesting. But the compelling start, ends up somewhat devoid of real story and leaves you feeling empty.
This is my favorite Dardenne film. Raw and subtly-charged with emotional and moral dilemma, La Promesse shows how difficult social struggle doesn't eradicate goodness in humanity.
Emilie Dequenne gives a superb, compelling performance as pathetic Rosetta who struggles with permanent employment while distraught with an alcoholic mom. This Dardenne masterpiece probes into social class issues without providing definitive answer but ending with a slightly hopeful note. A must-see.
Bizarre dramatization of infamous notorious prisoner Bronson is all over the place. Title character played with great energy by Tom Hardy, who's the only saving grace in this uninteresting movie which could have been better.
This engaging sixth installment creates an even darker world for the wizards and witches at Hogwarts but sad to say the acting department lacks the necessary requirement to complement the movie.
This sexy and promising thriller ends up pointless by showcasing forgettable characters lunged together to mess up with a nonsense, inexplicably wild "nature."
This anti-war story maybe beautiful to look at but falls flat due to the fact that characters are thrown into cliched situations through a back-drop of over-indulgent sex and violence created only to induce shock.
Excellent Lynch masterpiece throws audience scratching head for sheer confusion but also causes retroactive back-tracking to realize how awesome the movie is frame-by-frame.
Outstanding horror movie from British director Neil Marshall plunges characters into fresh tense world filled with mystery that will thril audience from start to finish.
This is probably my most favorite movie title. After watching the movie, you are left dumbfounded what the title pertains to. Is it the adaptation of a book to a movie? Or the adaptation of an unorthodox writer to the conventionality of screenwriting? Or the adaptation of a species to its environment? In actuality, for a single word, ?Adaptation,? actually refers to all of these and more.
This one-word movie title neatly hits the story's main topic: the seven deadly sins. And its impact is beefed up by how the seventh sin is committed! Love the way it?s written: se7en
What's great about this title is its being unfitting. The lush, beautiful Doyle-photography adds to the irony of the setting as being "not in the mood for love." It was a chaotic time for Hong Kong, and definitely not a time for love. Also conventionality enforces that no mood should be allowed for two marrieds to fall in love.
Evil Dead fans rejoice! Beloved director Sam Raimi has come back to the horror genre in perfect form. Drag Me to Hell is probably the best contemporary horror comedy in recent years!
