The Village
PG-13
M. Night Shyamalan is one of the most bizarre directors I have heard of. Whilst, some of his films are good and some are bad, it's the stories he creates, which really makes you think. 'The Village' is another one of his films which will not be for everyone. You really have to concentrate on this film, but only so you can understand what is happening. Thanks to the marketing, you enter this film, believing it will be a horror only to find out it's a romantic drama. It's a bizarre film which is even harder to explain or to review. There are some highlights about the film though, with some great score and some good acting. It's not the worst film, but it is defiantly not the best film. If you have seen his other films, give it a go, but be prepared for something unexpected.
National Lampoon's Vacation
R
These days, National Lampoon is not known for its comedies, but back in the early '80s, the world was introduced to 'Vacation' which began the start of a series of funny and well known comedies. 'Vacation' can not really get a simpler story. A family travel to a particular place with unprepared comedic occurrences. The are some nice cameos featured, such as Eugene Levy and John Candy, an the film is a mixture of both physical and verbal comedy, with it nicely separated amongst the well played characters, with one of the best and remembered characters being Aunt Edna. But, the one character who gets the best portion of the jokes is Chevy Chase. He delivers all the lines so perfectly that creates one of the best characters of the film, and a character who is still being referenced to this day.
The Terminator
R
With the rise of successful science-fiction films in the '70's and '80's, James Cameron introduces another successful sci-fi flick which would live on for decades. The story is well written and is a great concept. The film portrays one main goal of a story but introduces an expansion of what will happen. The casting is well done, with great performances by Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton. Although Arnold Schwarzenegger is far too famous to watch this film without thinking of other characters he played, he still portrays a wonderful cyborg performance. The effects aren't the greatest in this current age, as many in this film look very unrealistic, but this film is not full of them and rely more on the action. The music is also very dated and out of place compared to today's, but still fits well with this fantastic movie.
Spy Kids 3-D - Game Over
PG
After two successful films, the final Spy Kids movie goes 3D. Although it has a slight red and green tint on the screen, the actual effects used for it are quiet impressive and really provides the most fun for the film. Out of watching it in 3D or 2D, the preferred choice would be to watch it in 3D, as certain effects are too obvious in 2D. The process of going 3D is successful, but unfortunately, the film really fails on the story. The film is more of a chance to have 3D effects. It starts off ok, with a slight story appearing, but once you get to the last 30 minutes, it drops drastically. Instead of producing a fantastic ending, it just provides a chance to deliver cameos from nearly all the lead stars of the first two films. Even though it?s a joy to see all these stars appearing, it is a really unnecessary move and does not give the proper ending it should have had. Fans of the film would love the final instalment of the trilogy.
American Dreamz
PG-13
If your alive in this current age, it should be obvious what this movie is based on. The hard job is to make it enjoyable, and although this isn't the most enjoyable film of 2006, it's still fun to watch. It's a joy to see talent of Hugh Grant, Dennis Quaid, Willem Dafoe mix together, as well as comedic stars Chris Klein, Jennifer Coolidge and John Cho. The film isn't full of jokes, but what is found within the film, is definitely enjoyable.
Titanic
PG-13
I've seen a few people who mistake this version for the blockbuster film, but this is a very different people. Some people like this version more, but personally, I don't. The main reason is the length, as it is just too long for the plot. Unlike the blockbuster, this film focuses more on the conversations between individuals. The conversations aren't exactly interesting either, and drag on to long. As well as this, many of the performances aren?t memorable or even great, with the exception of Tim Curry, who provides the only interesting story (other than the ships). I was actually surprised by the effects. For a TV movie, I was expecting a cheap looking ship, but was overly impressed by how it looks.

The Girl Next Door
R
When you first look at the description for this film, you might seem slightly put off about the idea of the lead female character being a porn star, but the story isn't all about that, and does actually have a soul and heart. Of course there is the slight nudity, but then what R-rated comedy film doesn't have nudity? The script is very cleverly written, with smart jokes and lovable characters. You can feel just what the characters might feel, and really makes you think what you would do. Everyone portrays a wonderful character from Emile Hirsch and Elisha Cuthbert to Timothy Olyphant, Paul Dano and Chris Marquette are a joy to watch. It's not the kind of film to watch as a family, but do not enter it thinking it's all about sex. Enjoy

Freddy vs. Jason
R
I am a fan of two of the biggest horror franchises. Just like many of viewers around the world. Having Freddy Krueger from the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' series and Jason Vorhees from the 'Friday the 13th' series battle each other to the death would be like a dream come true on film. Question is: Can they fight enough to entertain us? The story is quite basic and easy to understand. They go back to the start of the film franchises and make it very dark, with the qualities of both killers seen in their first films appearing. Robert Englund is back as Freddy Krueger and proves once again, that no one can play Freddy other than him. The rest of the cast aren't the most well known stars, but do their job effectively. Kelly Rowland is surprisingly good. The characters range from interesting (Chris Marquette's lovable nerd role) to the quite dull characters (Jason Ritter's tag along boyfriend). The fight is incredible and bloody, that it really does feel like a battle of the Gods. Some critics don't seem to enjoy it that great, but you watch it and make a decision. My personal opinion, is that it's definitely a lot better than most of the Freddy and Jason sequels.

Superbad
R
Let me just say one thing first. If you are not a fan of American Pie or any sex teen comedy, then i would strongly suggest you avoid this. The film is the usual story of teenage guys trying to get alcohol and trying to get laid, but it is the fantastic script that has been written and the lovable characters which makes 'Superbad' fantastic. The script is written and performed with a fluid motion. Unlike some films, the two lead characters, Evan and Seth really do feel like they've been friends for years. The three leads act so well. Michael Cera is the lovable nerd and Jonah Hill is one of the best 'speakers' in this film. The words just flow out of him. Chris Mintz-Plasse creates an iconic character which would be remembered for years. If you don't mind teen sex comedies, then you HAVE to watch this.

American Wedding
R
The American Pie gang return in a third instalment of the successful franchise. Unfortunately, the charm from the first film really feels missing from this movie. There is more of a plot than the second film, but still doesn't match up to the plot of the first film. There are some funny jokes and some good sequences, but not clearly enough as the previous two films. With the plot not being as expanded as the first two films, a lot of the characters fail to appear, but fortunately many of the entertaining characters still feature. Eugene Levy is great as always, and Eddie Kaye Thomas gets a lot more screen time and is able to play it out effectively. Seann William Scott reprises the character of Stifler, a bit too much. In the first two films, his character aimed to annoy the other characters. In this film, his character really begins to become annoying to the audience. Thomas Ian Nicholas returns as Kevin, who ends up a very disappointing character in this film. He just added nothing to the plot whatsoever. Although it's a disappointing finale to the 'theatrical' trilogy, American Pie fans will love it.
