About Me
twofifty.orgtwofifty.org

Films are my passion. Since young age I used to go to the cinema to watch them with my mates or on my own and while my mates didn't really pay attention to some of them I enjoyed them with all my heart. Now I have realized how big my addiction to this has become. My dream is to become a film director but it is a very hard and impossible thing so firstly I want to try myself at screenwriting and see if I will succeed or not. Everyone can become what they want if they try hard and don't give up on it. I believe so anyway.

Types of films I like:
My favourite ones are drama/thriller/war films. Any of this 3 category’s is my favourite. But like I said previously I like a bit of everything really. I respect people's opinions so don't worry to tell me what you thought about any specific film, even if I absolutely hated it and you loved it.
(NEW) Dark Knight Poster! TWO FACE!!
Ok if you want to be my friend than you must be interested in films just like me. I mean you don't have to be crazy about them but at least have some reviews and reviews like "kl", "vry gd" or "bad" don't count. Be normal and do some writing on your favourite films. Also I don't care if your MTC score is really low to mine as long as you enjoy watching and reviewing films I don't care. Oh yeah another thing: I FUCKING HATE WIDGETS!!! What is it with people putting like 20 of them on their profile? Especially the ones that play music when you click on someone's page, they fucking scare the shit out of you if you don't expect anything like that to happen. Also if you have about 500 friends than I am sure having me on your friend list won't make any difference so don't add me too. Also, if I can't see your profile because it is private, then why would I accept you if I don't even know a single detail about you?? Sorry, but that's just bullshit, no information, no friendship. Well want to be my friend? Sure, just read that properly (proves that you looked at my profile) and decide wherever you match all of that or not. Thank you.

Those 3 above are my all time favourite actors.
By this I mean, that each one of them delivered a top performance, which I absolutely loved in every single film that I watched that had one of them in it. So, it doesn’t mean that they are the best in the world; it means they are my favourite actors and I will always admire them.

MY RATINGS.

I am a very busy person so I can’t rate films really quickly. First of all I need to watch the film then I need to write a review and that’s not quick an easy as it seems, especially when I got to prepare for my GCSE! Anyway, I will review every film I rated eventually when I've got time. I always rate at least one film a week unless I really busy (I am a busy person as you have noticed!)

My RATING SYSTEM.
I watch everything so I don't use sign not interested instead I just don't take notice of a film if I think that it’s bad. I look at many aspects of the film but mainly a storyline, acting, special effects, the originality of idea, and if the film achieved everything it possibly could have achieved. I rate films mostly on what they are or not what I thought of it. So if I totally hate a film it can be easily a masterpiece.

MY STAR RATING.
1/2: An abomination to this world (that bad it doesn't deserves to be mentioned)

*A Complete disaster (really badly directed and lack of absolutely everything)

*1/2: Horrible (Cannot be improved in any ways)

**: Really Bad (lack of something special e.g. good actors, good story, no special effects etc.)

**1/2: OK but needs to be improved a lot, if there is to be another film in this series.

***: Average film. Neither good nor bad. Nothing special really but you can still enjoy it.

***1/2: Good. A good film with a good actors, good story, nice and realistic special effects. It is nice to watch it really.

****: Very good. It has got something really special like and outstanding actor or really good story or amazing special effects. Also it probably includes a unique idea or it is entirely different to other films. A movie I would recommend to watch.

****1/2: Amazing. There is almost everything perfect about this film. Acting is outstanding, Story is breath-taking & special effects make you think it is not a film but a real life. And it is definitely has something special about it. It is a kind of film that you should really see in your meantime.

*****: One in a hundred. Not every film can belong to this category. It should be perfect and unbelievably great to get this far. The whole concept of this film is unique and special. Every single thing was achieved from it and it’s an entire pleasure to watch it. A "must see for sure" film for everyone.

Note: usually, if I give movie 4 stars or higher rating, I state my most memorable quote from the movie in my review.

Iron Man (2008)

"Tony Stark: [reading the newspaper] Iron Man? That's kinda catchy"

Tony Stark is a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Instead, using his intelligence and ingenuity, Tony builds a high-tech suit of armour and escapes captivity. When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons his powerful armour and vows to protect the world as Iron Man.

Iron Man was touted to be a good film from the start, but boy; I didn't expect it to be "that" good. It is primarily good because of its stunning special effects. Now, those who are familiar with Iron Man comic book or even those who have seen the TV series will know what I am talking about. For others who are not familiar with Iron Man, this film has a strong storyline that shows briefly how Tony Stark came up with the Iron Man suit and why did he actually decided to create it. You will also see a man who decided to change his life, in order to fight against evil and help all those innocent people from getting killed. Sounds familiar? Yes, the story is not original but it is well delivered.

The plot is a typical superhero story; a guy who uses his talent for doing something completely irrelevant or something that only makes his life better, (creating weapons of mass destruction and selling them worldwide in this case) but after a terrible situation that put his life in danger opened his eyes, and so he decided to use his knowledge by helping humanity and protecting civilians from the bad guys. Only one difference to most of the other super hero flicks: just like Batman, Iron Man doesn't have any super powers. He is a normal man, only he is extremely good at machinery and engineering. He is a genius. So, while Tony Stark has being attacked by terrorists, he was brutally injured by his own weapon during the attack. This made him realise that he wasted his life by creating something that takes lives of innocent people. After the incident, he constructs a suit which will help him escape from his kidnappers an later on; he will create a much better version of this suit, in order to protect people around the world. But unfortunately for Tony, there is someone that wants to stop him from helping people, someone who only wants to earn money by causing other people deaths, and therefore Tony Stark must face this person and stop him from killing him and everyone else.

Robert Downey Jr. Plays Tony Stark. A thing about playing a superhero in the movie like Spider-Man or X-Men is that people will remember you for your role, no matter how well or bad you performed in this movie. Robert most certainly will be remembered as one of the best actors to play a superhero. He did ever so great; he acted as a typical jackass millionaire at the start of the movie, but later on he changed, he became more responsible and grateful for things he could have achieved if he was using his knowledge in a good way. He was witty, hilarious and the way he said all of his dialogues, all that was fantastic. He handled the role well, even though he is older that Tony Stark. Gwyneth Paltrow played Tony's fiancé Pepper Potts. She and Robert had a lot of mixture between them, they looked great together and their dialogues were often hilarious yet romantic. Terrence Howard played James Rupert Rhodes, a close friend of Stark and his future superhero partner War Machine. Terrence were good in his role, even though at times he looked a bit out of place, he was generally fine and even funny at times. Even though we don't get to see him as War Machine, we get a hint that he will definitely use the suit in the next Iron Man movie. Finally, Jeff Bridges plays Obadiah Stane, Tony's business partner and later his primal enemy of this film, Iron Monger. Jeff is extremely good as a bad guy, I can guarantee that you will dislike his character after the first time you see him in the movie.

Most of the superhero movies are famous for its special effects but this one had more than that. The dialogues were really good; they are brilliant throughout the whole movie. Cinematography is great, the light mixture is good and it is easy to watch the whole movie without moving your eyes away from the screen.

Overall, Iron Man movie is a pleasure to watch, especially on the big screen. While most of the superhero movies don't have what it takes to be called "super", Iron Man rose beyond expectations and quite easily became one of this year's best superhero movies. A massive credit to John Favreau for creating this stunning film that can be truly remembered as one of the best in its category.

Millions Millions PG 4.0 Stars
Millions (2004)
Directed by Danny Boyle
Starring Alex Etel, Lewis McGibbon, James Nesbitt, Daisy Donovan

"[first lines]
Damian Cunningham: [voiceover] The French have said au revoir to the franc, the Germans have said auf wiedersehen to the mark, and the Portuguese have said... whatever to their thing."

Millions tells the story of 7-year-old Damian, whose family moves to the suburbs of Manchester after the death of his mother. Soon after the move, Damian's "hermitage" is obliterated by a bag of money flung from a passing train. Damian immediately shows the money to his brother, Anthony, and the two begin thinking of what to do with it. Anthony, the selfish one, wants the money only for himself and his entertainment.

Damian, the kind-hearted and religious of the two, had recently overheard three Latter Day Saint missionaries lecture other members of the community on building foundations of rock rather than foundations of sand, an old Christian principle which dictates that self-worth should be based on spirituality rather than worldly things like money and wealth. The lecture inspires Damian, who is particularly enamoured with the missionaries because of the name of their church; Damian is obsessed with saints, studying their biographies and even seeing them in his day-to-day activities as visions. He immediately begins looking for ways to give his share of the money to the poor.

Very underrated and really unknown, but in fact this film is a real gem. The story is perfect, the acting is great and I really loved the idea that we were meant to receive after we have seen this movie. It's a typical family film; two boys find a box of money and they both are trying to spend the money, each their own way. The older one spends it on sweets, cloth and many other different items. The younger one though is a typical dreamer; he believes in god, he prays, he studies bible and he reads about all the different missionaries. He also has a really good imagination; he always seems to talk to different people who in fact, do not exist. So as he receives the money, he decides to give it to the poor ones. But who are the poor ones these days? Obviously, that the young kid like him has no idea what poor people look like and basically, he follows his own mind and gives out the money to everyone who he thinks would really need them.

Typically, if any of us would have received this kind of money, we would have probably spent it on every single thing we wished for at this point of our life. This movie lets us see our imagination transfer into reality of this film, some of us will find the stuff that kids buying absolutely ridiculous, but some of us will often smile when they see what kids purchased or how they spend it. This film tells us what's right and what's wrong, why money is so important in our lives and why we usually spend something that by accident becomes ours, but in fact it wasn't earned by us in the first place. The scene before the very last one is very sad, yet beautiful. It shows that someone who has absolutely no idea what money can make to people decides to leave them out of his own life. It makes us think: is money really that important? Yes, today's world depends on money, but there are much more important things in this world such as: love, family, and happiness. If you can be happy with no money in your life, you are indeed a very lucky person. Truth is though, that there is hardly anybody that is happy in this world, even with money in their lives, not talking about people without them.

Alex Etel is amazing as Damian Cunningham. He really is a very young and talented actor and I absolutely loved his performance in this film. Lewis McGibbon plays his older brother, and he also does really well. James Nesbitt and Daisy Donovan played a perfect couple. Nesbitt is great as Damian's father Ronnie. He is a natural actor and he looks really experienced. Daisy Donovan is also good and she is kind of funny when she first appears in Damian's school.

This film is not that famous I must admit, but if you get hold of it, you will be really surprised when you see it because it shows us a very good example of something, that we should never forget.

Total Recall Total Recall R 4.0 Stars
Total Recall (1990)
Directed by Paul Verhoeven
Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sharon Stone, Rachel Ticotin, Ronny Cox, Michael Ironside

"Douglas Quaid: I don't remember you.
Melina: What are you talking about?
Douglas Quaid: I don't remember you. I don't remember us. I don't even remember me."

The story is set in the year 2084. Douglas Quaid is a construction worker who has been experiencing dreams about exploring the planet Mars with a sexy brunette. After seeing an ad from Rekall, a company that sells imaginary adventures by implanting memories, he decides to buy a "vacation" on Mars from them, one in which he will take a vacation from himself by becoming a spy. Rekall calls it an "ego trip." Before buying the vacation, Quaid is cautioned by a co-worker that Rekall are "lobotomizing people", in reference to failed memory implants which caused the recipients to suffer permanent brain damage. Quaid hesitates, but disregards this warning.

Total Recall is a nice action movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Douglas Quaid/Hauser the main protagonist of this film. He plays typical action hero, he know how to kill people effectively, he can shoot like a real soldier, he can even drive a car; he can do all that but the big problem is: he doesn't really know anything about himself. The whole storyline looks simple at first, but it's far more complicated than you can even think of. It twists and turns and by doing so, it leads us to an ultimate twist towards near the end of the movie. It is a typical Arnold Schwarzenegger movie but it is certainly a good thing because it makes the whole difference here. We know that Paul Verhoeven can create a really good action movie and once again he proved that by making this movie.

The acting was great: Arnold was as good as ever: he did lots of shooting and lots of fighting and he said some really bad ass lines that won't disappear from your head for a while. Sharon Stone played Quaid's wife - Lori Quaid. She was ok, even though it wasn't the best performance of her career but it was still not bad at all. The rest of actors did well too; Rachel Ticotin was good as Quaid's fiancé; Ronny Cox and Michael Ironside both playing bad guys and they look good in their roles.

Special effects were great too. The shooting scenes, the fighting scenes, car chasing: it was all well made and it was a pleasure to watch. The amount of blood and violence is really high but that is what makes this a true action movie.

Overall, Total Recall is a great film to watch, sometimes maybe it is hard to understand what's going on but you can still enjoy the movie. If you are a big fan of action movies and you enjoy watching Arnold Schwarzenegger doing what he is really good at (by that I mean acting), then this film is definitely for you.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Charlie and the Chocolate Factory PG 4.0 Stars
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Directed by Tim Burton
Starring Johnny Depp, Freddy Highmore, David Kelly, Helena Bonham Carter, Noah Taylor, Missi Pyle, James Fox, Deep Roy, Christopher Lee

"Mike Teavee: Why is everything here completely pointless?
Charlie Bucket: Candy doesn't have to have a point. That's why it's candy."

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' is a tale about an eccentric chocolate maker, Willy Wonka, and Charlie, a good-hearted boy from a poor family who lives in the shadow of Wonka's extraordinary factory. Long isolated from his own family, Wonka launches a worldwide contest to select an heir to his candy empire. Five lucky children, including Charlie, draw golden tickets from Wonka chocolate bars and win a guided tour of the legendary candy-making facility that no outsider has seen in fifteen years. Dazzled by one amazing sight after another, Charlie is drawn into Wonka's fantastic world.

This is Tim Burton's remake of a famously known film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, both being based on a children's book with the similar name, written by Roald Dahl. This film turned out to be a huge success at the box office, making around $475 million and famously known for its great visual effects.

Johnny Depp played Willy Wonka, an eccentric chocolate maker, who is known worldwide. Depp did a tremendous job, his dialogues were spontaneously hysterical, his movements were elegant, yet funny, and once again, he proved that he is a top actor. Freddy Highmore plays a little boy called Charlie Bucket, a founder of the last golden ticket. Charlie, being unfortunate throughout his whole life finally gets a chance of winning a grand prize in the Willy Wonka's mysterious competition. I didn't see anything special in Freddie's performance, for me he looked like a normal kid who didn't do any sort of memorable acting. I am not saying he was bad, I am just saying that he is just a pretty boy, who can do what he is asked to, but that's as far as it goes. On the other hand, I think all the actors who played the rest of the kids did really well; they were picked perfectly for their roles and shine in this film. David Kelly played Grandpa Joe, and he was one of funniest guys in the film. His character's dream was to see Willy Wonka for the second time in his life, and also to help his grandchild Charlie to be the winner of the competition. Helena Bonham Carter and Noah Taylor played Charlie's parents. Their only wish was to make their son happy, so they tried to encourage their son to be happy not with all money he can get, but with the family that he owns. Deep Roy played all of those weird "Oompa-Loompas". He was generally pleasant to watch, and especially funny at the times. Lastly, Christopher Lee played Wilbur Wonka, the father of Willy. Wilbur is a famous dentist, and therefore forbid Willy to eat any sort of sweets.

The story was generally good. The whole family issue was supported well, and even the fact that Tim Burton relied more on special effects, rather than the story, hasn't affected the overall performance of this film. I also think that the use of flashbacks was a great idea, every time we saw one of them, we got to know a bit about Willy Wonka childhood and that builds up the whole anticipation of the story, with the final secret being revealed towards the end of the movie. Maybe not many people can understand this movie, and some children might find it weird, but generally it's a pleasure to watch it, especially with your family as it's a comedy film. The ending rounded up the story nicely, and brought a conclusion with the thought that family is much more important than money and fame.

Lastly, Special Effects were amazing. I loved the whole atmosphere in the movie, and all the inventions of Willy Wonka were interesting to watch, in fact, the whole tour to the factory was a pleasure to watch. This film received an Oscar nomination for "Best Costume Design" but lost to "Memoirs of a Geisha". I really loved the makeup and the costumes; they made this film look especially good.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - a great family movie and another success for Tim Burton, but it might look weird for the younger audience. Without a doubt, you can always see a first adaptation of Roald Dahl's book, but I recommend you see this one too as it has that little bit of Tim Burton's magic.

I, Robot I, Robot PG-13 4.0 Stars
I, Robot (2004)
Directed by Alex Proyas
Starring Will Smith, Bridget Moynahan, Alan Tudyk, James Cromwell, Chi McBride, Shia LaBeouf

"Dr. Alfred Lanning: [voiceover] There have always been ghosts in the machine. Random segments of code, that have grouped together to form unexpected protocols. Unanticipated, these free radicals engender questions of free will, creativity, and even the nature of what we might call the soul. Why is it that when some robots are left in darkness, they will seek out the light? Why is it that when robots are stored in an empty space, they will group together, rather than stand alone? How do we explain this behaviour? Random segments of code? Or is it something more? When does a perceptual schematic become consciousness? When does a difference engine become the search for truth? When does a personality simulation become the bitter mote... of a soul?"

The year is 2035. Detective Del Spooner is sent to an experimental space station to investigate the death of brilliant, eccentric scientist Dr. Alfred Lanning. Spooner is aided by psychologist Dr. Susan Calvin, and the death is initially labelled a suicide. Spooner, though, suspects that a robot may have perpetrated the crime. That seems unthinkable since robots are governed by The Three Laws of Robotics, which state that a robot may never harm or allow harm to come to a human being. As Spooner and Calvin investigate the death, they come to believe that a robot did, in fact, commit the crime. They are aided in their investigation by Dr. Lanning himself, who appears as a hologram, and reveals that he was working on a top secret project at the time of his death.

"I, Robot" is one of these action movies, which have a really good storyline. Rather than involving some random killing and shooting, it is based on a mystery death of a famous scientist. There are twists and turns throughout the whole movie, and the final outcome can leave you absolutely puzzled. "I, Robot" based on a book with the similar name and therefore it has a strong storyline. Alex Proyas is a talented director and he handled the script well, by producing one of the best action movies of its decade.

Will Smith was given a leading role of Del Spooner, a detective who hates robots and most of all, don't trust them. He doesn't like the way that robots nearly dominate everything in his world, and says that one day they will get out of control. Will Smith does one of his best action film roles, al because of his astonishing acting. He doesn't just go around and shooting robots, he is trying to solve a mystery that is beyond this film. He also had some funny bits in his dialogue which will make you smile. Bridget Moynahan plays a geeky psychologist, Dr. Susan Calvin. Her performance was good, even though she seem to be a bit tired in most of the action scenes. Alan Tudyk plays Sonny, a robot who is suspected of a murder of Dr. Lanning, played by James Cromwell. It is amazing what technology can do these days, Alan looked really different to his character Sonny. He isn't one of the really famous actors, but I think he did extremely well on his role.

Special effects were astonishing. The whole idea of robots being part of our community in future didn't surprise me but I loved the way it has been represented. The action scenes were done superbly and cinematography was also above the average. I must also give a special credit to the music score, which was really good, and it was used properly during the certain scenes in the movie.

Overall, "I, Robot" is a great action movie, that has a great storyline and it will make you think about it until the end. If you want to see an action movie that isn't all about shooting and can actually provide some sort of mystery, then watch this movie and you will feel very pleased indeed.

Tyler Durden: C'mon, do me this one favour. Narrator: Why? Tyler Durden: Why? I don't know why; I don't know. Never been in a fight. You? Narrator: No, but that's a good thing. Tyler Durden: No, it is not. How much can you know about yourself, you've never been in a fight? I don't want to die without any scars. So come on; hit me before I lose my nerve. Narrator: This is crazy. Tyler Durden: So go crazy. Let 'er rip. Narrator: I don't know about this. Tyler Durden: I don't either. Who gives a shit? No one's watching. What do you care? You are not your job. You are not how much you have in the bank. You are not the contents of your wallet. You are not your khakis. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. What happens first is you can't sleep. What happens then is there's a gun in your mouth. And what happens next is you meet Tyler Durden. Let me tell you about Tyler. He had a plan. In Tyler we trusted. Tyler says the things you own, end up owning you. It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything. Fight Club represents that kind of freedom. First rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club. Second rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club. Tyler says self-improvement is masturbation. Tyler says self-destruction might be the answer.

First rule of the fight club is: you do not talk about the fight club but in the next half an hour I am afraid I have to break this rule as I will mention the good and the bad things about fight club. If you are here to read the bad things, then I am afraid you will not get any from me. Fight club is a true masterpiece, a drama/crime movie involving everything you need in a perfect movie: fighting, sex, cigarettes, love, action, more fighting, crime, more sex and of course a storyline that will touch you and make you feel stunned right to the end. A superb story, accomplished with some astonishing acting, and of course the superb special effects, all here in this movie. I will also discuss what it took to get such a great film?

The film opened at the cinemas on October 15, 1999 and perhaps made the end of the 20th Century worthwhile. An American feature film adaptation of the 1996 novel Fight Club, by Chuck Palahniuk, adapted by Jim Uhls, and directed by David Fincher. This is a perfect story Chuck wrote, and David Fincher did a brilliant job in producing this film. The action never stops, and even in the end you are left imagining what might happen next. Twists and turns are in the film throughout, and it looks better every time you watch it.

This film has one of the best acting performances I have seen in my whole life in Edward Norton's performance, and this is only one year after his previous stunning Oscar nominated performance as Derek Vinyard from American History X. He followed this up by giving an absolutely sensational performance in Fight Club. Every time I watch another of his films and hear his voice, it brings me back to the time I watched Fight Club; the Story teller's narrative was very emotional and clearly understandable. His character is a guy who suffers from insomnia. He is a crazy, obsessed guy, but like most other guys in the world he has a normal job, a normal house, and a normal life. It all changes after he meets Tyler Durden, a mysterious guy that offers him to stay at his house, after a horrible accident which caused the narrators flat to be destroyed. Ed Norton is no longer Ed Norton; he is the narrator of this story and the main protagonist. His acting deserves more than praise but unfortunately he was never nominated for any awards whatsoever which is very disappointing.

Fight Club

Brad Pitt plays Tyler Durden, and he does his role unbelievably well. No nonsense from Brad and a good look, extremely athletic body, and his mannerisms are very humorous in this film, and he delivers perhaps one of the best performances in his entire career. Also he handled most of his dialogues really well and he sounded very encouraging towards the narrator; a sort of stuff I was really surprised to see from Brad Pitt.

Helena Bonham Carter plays the role of Marla Singer, a deeply depressed-looking person who is flippant about taking her life seriously, and absolutely careless about everything. At first she is kind of annoying; at the start of the movie she always appears where narrator seems to be, but later you understand that she is a major character in this film so she needed to be there all the time. It is a perfect performance from Helena which also surprised me, considering I had never heard of her until I saw this movie (all of her fans, please excuse me for my lack of knowledge about her career).

Lastly I want to mention two other minor actors: Meat loaf & Jared Leto. They both gave good, strong performances and never looked like they were struggling.

There were not many Special effects, as it isn't some sort of over the top action movie, however this film does have some serious fighting scenes which you will no doubt enjoy. This film had some great destructive special effects, and without revealing any more details, I can tell you that it looks cleverly done.

One of the other things I liked about this film is the original idea, the way it is told, and the way we do not know the truth until the very end. This film is also filled with hidden messages which are very hard to notice, or understand. It is crazy and I love it for that. I cannot understand why this film wasn't nominated for any Academy Award, but for Best Sound Editing and the Golden Reel Award, it lost both, which is really disappointing in my opinion, as this film is really original and entirely unique.

So, to summarize, Fight Club achieved everything it could have achieved and rose above my expectations and became my favourite film of all time. I can assure you that if you find this film in a DVD shop or elsewhere, please buy it! By doing so you will be involved in what it feels like to be deeply depressed and to have no other choice but to fight your way through it until finally you will meet your destiny. This film is without any doubt a masterpiece.

"Tyler Durden: Warning: If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all that claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think everything you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told to want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned- Tyler."

Batman Begins (2005) Directed by Christopher Nolan Starring Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Katie Holmes, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman, Tom Wilkinson, Rutger Hauer, Ket Watanabe
"[Bruce awakens from a nightmare] Thomas Wayne: The bats again? [Bruce nods] Thomas Wayne: You know why they attacked you, don't you? They were afraid of you. Bruce Wayne - age 8: Afraid of me? Thomas Wayne: All creatures feel fear. Bruce Wayne - age 8: Even the scary ones? Thomas Wayne: Especially the scary ones."

The tale finds the disillusioned industrial heir Bruce Wayne, in the wake of his parents' murder, travelling the world to seek the means to fight injustice and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful. He returns to Gotham and unveils his alter-ego: Batman, a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city. Learn about batman origins and feel what it is like to be a normal human who trying to fight against evil all by his own. Well, maybe not all on his own, but with help of bats- the biggest fear of his life.

Batman begins perhaps the best batman film of its time. The title says it all: it's a beginning of a new batman era and it's a perfect beginning for a perfect film series. It starts with a story of Bruce Wayne's early life (I believe I don't need to tell you who Bruce Wayne is) and his fear for bats. We see how his life goes on and what happened to him to make him who he is by the end of a movie.

The acting is really intense. Christian Bale does the batman so well that I think he is the perfect guy for a role. His movements, his fighting and his speech are all fantastic and his voice really lets us know why all of the villains are scared when they face batman. More to that he shows the human part of batman really well, he acts like a complete jackass millionaire and makes himself look all elegant when Bruce works on his business. I really couldn't find a better person to play batman than Christian Bale and that is weird as in previous batman movies there were many numerous actors who played this character and they all didn't do such a great job. But not this one; Christian was a top performer out of them all. Christian is an actor who is very strong on screen and you can rely on him doing a great job which he did.

Michael Cane was perfect guy for Alfred role; he showed that he is British throughout and his care and humour was essential in this film. The rest of the actors done well too: Cillian Murphy was a great villain, so was Liam Neeson playing a guy with a mysterious alibi and a really dark past. Only one look into his eyes will give you the chills. Morgan freeman little role showed that he can do little roles and be noticed by the viewer as his acting perfect and Garry Oldman showed that little bit of professionalism in his acting as his character is desperately trying to save his city but being fully outnumbered until batman arrives. I didn't particularly liked Katie Holmes performance but I didn't hate it either so I think its fine as long as it doesn't affect the whole movie. But she needed more enthusiasm I think and that's what she really missed.

The special effects were amazing. Perhaps that will sound weird but this film didn't have as much special effects as all other barman films and yet it tops up most of them. The batman gadgets are exciting and they all look awesome as for bat suit it is just what the real one would probably looked like. It is interesting to see how batman obtained all of his gadgets as it is different to all of the other batman films which make you feel more interested in this movie. Special effects are essential in films like that and they were fully delivered here. Batman

Finally the story tells us about the real Bruce Wayne. It is not just about a badass superhero, it's about a boy who lost his parents and was fortunate to own all of his parent's empire. But he needed none of that as he seeks revenge and he promises to fight against all of the evil in this world and in his home city Gotham. He doesn't seek death and destruction to all of his villains no, he is trying to save the lives of all the innocent people and his ultimate challenge is to prevent Gotham from becoming a city filled with corruption and crime. He faces his fears and personal problems on his way to becoming the most fearful superhero in the world. A story of his dark childhood and even darker adulthood is all we see and it is being fully delivered here. I love the way they show us his childhood and the fact that he was afraid of bats when he was younger. An ordinary man, with no super powers or any other special abilities, who is fighting against crime and trying to overcome his biggest fear-Bats. This films will delivers everything you could possibly expect from it and much more.

So, this film is not an ordinary one; it is a mix of action and intrigue filled with tragedy and sadness which will keep you on the edge of your sit throughout the whole movie. We get a little clue about a sequel to this film right at the end of the movie and when you think that there is nothing else to hope for, you understand that there is going to be a sequel and that completely blows you away. Now, usually the sequel turns out to be worse than the first movie but I have a feeling that such a talented director as Christopher Nolan will deliver something really special with his second batman movie. After all, he created this absolute masterpiece.

spider-man 3 has been one of the most anticipated film of the last 2 years for me; it is one of those ,,hate it or love it" movies. peter parker (tobey maguire) has finally found balance in his life. he is in love with the girl of his dreams, mary jane watson (kirsten dunst), and all of new york loves his alter ego, spider-man. flint marko (thomas haden church), the man responsible for uncle ben' s death, has escaped from prison and genetically combined with sand particles; he is now the sandman. also, harry osborn (james franco), the new goblin, is planning his revenge against spider-man. the story is not complicated, but has some twists (many predictable). tobey maguire gives a great performance, kirsten dunst is acceptable and james franco is at his best. thomas haden church is also likable. i didn' t like topher grace' s performance; in my opinion, venom must be played by a strong and capable actor, because he is the most powerful enemy of spider-man. bryce dallas howard plays a small role, but she is good and beautiful. the visuals are breathtaking and the detail added to each scene is remarkable. spider-man 3 is another great superhero movie, a success of 2007.

UPDATE - I SAW THIS A SECOND TIME WITH A BETTER ENDING AND I HAVE UPPED MY GAME FOR THIS NEW INDI 2008 SKULL Flick.

The Ending in the new cut i saw today uses a non Hollywood ending that I truly hope Steven keeps it the final cut you see next weekend.

and no he doesn't die? or um? Lets just say this new ending does not follow the reagan formula - and for that reason I have upped the star factor.

I saw Shia Labeouf last sat night at the dress for SNL - and he told us there would be this secret screening that night. Of course we all ran the screeing on 40th street and saw the bone.

With the franchise and Spielberg not shying away from the original subtext of the franchise (the Reagan conquest) - Indi and his boy make for a fun play on the same metaphor this time around.

Dr. Jack Wheeler is a legend. he was the inspiration for the famed movie character.

While Jack has often been called a "real life Indiana Jones" and is part of the mix of historical figures Stephen Spielberg used (along with his own imagination) to create his fictional hero -- "Jones" is cartoon fiction and Wheeler is real.

In the 1980s he conducted a series of extensive visits to anti-Soviet guerrilla insurgencies in Nicaragua, Angola, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Laos, and Afghanistan, and to democracy movements in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union, becoming an unofficial liaison between them and the Reagan White House. Based on his experiences with anti-Soviet insurgencies, he developed the strategy for dismantling the Soviet Empire adopted by the White House known as the "Reagan Doctrine. " It worked.

Dr. Jack Wheeler is virtually immeasurable as the architect of the Reagan Doctrine, he is one of the handful of men most responsible for the defeat of the Soviet Empire in the 1980s. He served his country as an "unofficial" liaison between the Reagan White House and anti-Soviet insurgents, pro-democracy activists and freedom fighters around the world, in Nicaragua, Angola, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Laos, Afghanistan, throughout Eastern Europe and in the Soviet Union itself.

With this in mind this new romp with Indi and the kid sticks to that path.

'Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it, have never known it again." says Ronald Reagan

This Reagan Romp is fun - thick with 2008 Republican pride and will take the box office for the next 3 weekends.

    Bye George Bush -
    hello Mr McCain

Adam Adamson has come a ways from the Shrek directing. I was amazed by how many good shots I seen throughout the movie. It was more then just a fantasy movie.
It was either my mood or perhaps the music to the movie but there was more emotion to it then the LW & W. I just found more to the characters all around instead of just the main five.
I enjoyed this alot and I expect others will as well.

In general, the fantasy film genre isn't for me, but Mike wanted to see it, and I was game enough.

I was pleasantly surprised; it was better than the first, I thought by a mile, and the pacing was generally good.

A word to parents with young children: the film is really very violent with prolonged fighting scenes, etc. May not be appropriate for some kids.

Good, but I'm waiting for the Crystal Skull :)

    Not what I expected, really.

The story is about a dying tribe called the Mohicans in which only two are left as well as one adopted white man. These three men refuse to enter the militia for English in 1757 for they want freedom. On their way to Kentucky, they intercept Indians attacking a small regiment of British including the two daughters of an English Colonel on their way to a fort. The three men lead the survivors to the fort while two love stories take place but the French and Indian War continues.

I found it very dull and boring. And Daniel Day-Lewis annoyed me.

I have nothing else to say.
Not a movie I'll rewatch, that's for sure.

In the lead up to the sequel, this film has been played a thousand times on just about every movie channel there is, so although i'd already seen it I thought I better again, just so it was fresh in my mind to compare to the second one. It was just as I remember as well. There are better comic book movies out there and there are worse. This one is pretty decent considering some of the more disastrous ones. It was left in a capable hands of Mr Del Toro so there wasn't much to worry about. He does a really great job as well. Some of the effects are not exactly great. One of the monsters at a few points in the film just looked like a guy in a suit. But aside from that not bad. The acting was alright. I really don't like Selma Blair though. She has given me no reason to like her and this film just isn't any different. She doesn't seem to put any effort into anything. I do hope she does a better job in the sequel. Actually I think the sequel should be better than this one in general. Hopefully bigger and better. We can only hope. A recommend film, it's got a simple but effective plot with really enjoyable moments that level off the ones that aren't so great.

We can say this is a little bit autobiographical movie.
Chaplin is setting up his own troubles with the anti-American activities commission on the screen, and that is quite funny though particularly dramatic.
It contains some very pungent observations on the American way of life and American society of that period.
And I think that most of the americans will not apprecciate it.

Chaplin plays King Shahdov, a deposed monarch who flees to America in the hopes of selling his plans for a peaceful, nuclear-based society, which never happens. And during his stay he meets several people who give life to funny and touching moments.

williams plays a tv talk show host, very similer to jon stewert, who after bringing up, maybe i should run for president,,, he does, he secures his nomination and goes to work, using his razor sharpe wit to woo the tv audiance and anyone who will listen, but the new polling booth computer voting system is faulty and maybe rigged, so if he wins and ecomes president is it a genuin win, a worker for that company speaks out, and her life is targeted for ruin, wyes this oviously is based on events in u.s when bush came from nowhere and won, as some say due to balled voting fixing, so a interesting concept, williams is great also, doing some great scenes of stand up, to get him self noticed, williams does this perfectly, and is a joy to watch, its never clear wether he will win and take up office, as story is told well and not predictable, and final outcome may be a little mushy for some, but it gets its message across well, a relevent for whats happend in recent past, and great to see williamsfinding great roles again
