That's why we sing for these kids, who don't have a thing
Except for a dream, and a fuckin' rap magazine Who post pin-up pictures on their walls all day long Idolize they favorite rappers and know all they songs Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in their lives Till they sit and they cry at night wishin' they'd die Till they throw on a rap record and they sit, and they vibe We're nothin' to you but we're the fuckin' shit in they eyes That's why we seize the moment try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and hold it Cause we consider these minutes golden And maybe they'll admit it when we're gone Just let our spirits live on, through our lyrics that you hear in our songs and we can... Monsieur Verdoux
Unrated
"HENRI VERDOUX: Wars, conflict - it's all business. One murder makes a villain; millions, a hero. Numbers sanctify, my good fellow! "
"PRIEST: May the Lord have mercy on your soul.
HENRI VERDOUX: Why not? After all, it belongs to Him."
A great Chaplin's black comedy or as the "movie" says "A comedy of murders".
This is one of Chaplin´s best sound films.
It´s the story of a fired bank clerk who goes into business for himself, marrying and murdering rich women for their money that then he uses for his family, the "real" wife and the son.
His directing is superb, the script is wonderful (born from the mind of Orson Welles) and the acting is superb, one of his best performance.
This is not like others chaplin's movies so don't watch it you don't like black comedies.
This movie has remembered me the movie "keeping mum" directed by Niall Johnson with Rowan Atkinson,so if you liked "monsieur verdoux" give a look also at "keeping mum"
Step Up 2 the Streets
PG-13
This is much better than the first,in this there is more breakdance!!
Great the scene of the last battle under the rain.
Oh well but the story is ALWAYS the same uff!! Also the quotes are always the same...
Watch it only if you like breakdance movies and hip hop.
For me the best movie of the "breakdance" is "you got served".
The Kingdom
R
This movie will show you a slice of life in Saudi Arabia. The characters are real and the struggle to get to the truth is real. The interplay between the Americans and the Saudi troops really shows the differences in our cultures while also showing how police are police and just want the truth no matter where they come from.
I can say that the movie is separated in two parts.
First part is the the part of the investigations.
The second is the action moment, and what an action!!
the two parts are connected perfectly.
How can someone say this is a lot better of the 1982 version???? maybe it was for that period.
The remake of De Palma is the masterpiece not this!!!
Well if you haven't understood yet I hated this movie, but anyways if you decide to see it do it before watch his remake.
The remake is is very very very very very much better.
Next
PG-13
Just a good entertainment movie.
The story is based on a book by Philip K. Dick about a man who can see 2 minutes into the future.
Cage acting is bad,he never change expression and this thing is happening for a long time, but on his face you can't notice his very white teeth lol.
Watch it only if you want to pass 1h and 30 mins od pure entertainment.
We Own the Night
R
With We Own the Night, James Gray crafts a fantastic story with a style set apart from current films.
The story is perfect, and I can say that in the second part is the revenge who reigns.
Mmm about the cast,Joaquin Phoenix is the heart, soul, and center of the film.
Duvall does a good job in the role of the father of the two brothers,Mark Wahlberg uses one look, one emotion, to convey his character, and the Mendes oh well yeah she's good.

Scarface
R
"I'm Tony Montana! You fuck with me, you fuckin' with the best!" This is one of my all time favorites and the first movie of Al Pacino I've seen. The story is incredible with a powerfull Pacino as Tony Montana. Full of memorables scenes and quotes as the scene of the chainsaw,or the ending with the big shooting in his mansion. Watch it,do this favour to yourself.
2.
The Godfather, Part II
R
The godfather pt II this is my favourite of the trilogy. Al Pacino made one of the best interpretation of all time. This second time of the Corleone's story is mixed with some flashbacks about the story of a young Vito Corleone just arrived in America. There are two stories taht running in parallel, the climbing to the power of Vito and the fall of his son Michael. Well what can I say more? superb acting, great story, and about my opinion this is the greatest sequel ever made.

Full Metal Jacket
R
Full Metal Jacket is a great movie. Not the best from Kubrick, but works great as a war film. The plot is about a group of soldiers who are turned into killers in marine training, and are then sent off to the Vietnam War. Kubrick is the true master of atmosphere in film. He makes you feel like you are there. The camera work was superb. I felt like I was walking through the movie with the Marines, from the barracks to the battlefield scenes. The film is divided into two parts 1--Training 2--To the front If u liked this also watch "Apocaypse now","save the private ryan" and why not also" jarhead"

Modern Times
Unrated
Charlie turns against modern society, the machine age, and progress. Firstly we see him frantically trying to keep up with a production line, tightening bolts. He is selected for an experiment with an automatic feeding machine, but various mishaps leads his boss to believe he has gone mad, and Charlie is sent to a mental hospital... When he gets out, he is mistaken for a communist while waving a red flag, sent to jail, foils a jailbreak, and is let out again. We follow Charlie through many more escapades before the film is out. this movie is always modern. And this story of modern times, like all of Chaplin's films will end up with an optimistic feeling in a unhappy end. Never is everything lost. the final scene is very famous where there are chaplin and his woman who are walking on the way to the future with a smile on face.

The Godfather
R
It's one of the greatest movie ever made. It's a magnificent portrait of organized crime. Superb acting by especially Al Pacino as Mike Corleone and Marlon Brando as Don Vito corleone. I don't write the plot because I think that everybody knows the story of this masterpiece. This is definetely a "must see" masterpiece!

The Violin (El Violin)
by Vmedia Berkeley Ca. Indiana Jones does not compare to the character study of the same topics explores in the Spielberg epic, yet done so quietly prefect here in a real Indiana Jones film call THE VIOLIN.
Life-or-death matters are handled with compelling gravity in Francisco Vargas' "The Violin," one of the most powerful movies screened at last year's Seattle International Film Festival.
this Mexican drama takes the peasants' side in dramatizing a 1970s revolt. The script vividly explores the impact of government oppression on three generations of one rebellious family.
Plutarco, perfectly played by 81-year-old Don Ángel Tavira, is never the frail grandfather he appears to be. Managing to play the violin even though his right hand is a stump, he just gets by as a traveling musician, using his practiced performer's charm to smother guards' suspicions and get past checkpoints. (Tavira deservedly won an acting award at the 2006 Cannes festival for this performance.)
After raiding an ammunition dump in a cornfield, Plutarco supplies his son, Genaro, with handfuls of bullets. Distraught by the news that his wife has been captured, Genaro and his son, Lucio, seem increasingly helpless in a situation that only the old man can effectively manipulate.
At first, even Plutarco seems to be getting nowhere. When he discovers a guard captain who loves music and wants to take violin lessons, the ice begins to break ? just enough to allow each man's humanity to become briefly evident. But as the uncompromising finale makes clear, this film is not any kind of heart warmer.
Although it begins with a graphic torture scene that suggests more of the same is coming, "The Violin" becomes increasingly restrained in its use of violence. First-time writer-director Vargas makes a point about brutality, then refuses to dwell on it. The most shattering moment is one character's silent reading of a list of casualties; his changing expressions tell us all we need to know.
Working in black-and-white with a gifted cinematographer, Martin Boege, Vargas creates a darkened fairy-tale atmosphere, especially as campfires light up the faces of the actors and smoke drifts photogenically through forests. Glimpses of village life suggest a timeless quality, especially when the grandfather recites a legend about the origins of war.
Don't leave before the final credits of "The Violin," which briefly goes dark, apparently for emphasis, before it really ends with an expressive coda. The blank moment throws in a touch of mystery. Most likely it's meant as a tribute to Tavira, without whom the movie would be unimaginable.
Move over Indiana Jone THE VIOLIN is the read thing - look for it on DVD ,

Take the Lead
by OviA very good ballroom dancer - teacher played by Antonio Banderas wants to make something out of nothing, well almost nothing, and since troubled or misunderstood teenagers are difficult to begin with he's in for some ruff times. Well anyways unlike other so many movies that involve dancing this is one of them that has a very good story attached to it, very good dancing and different styles and each of the characters have their own sad or dark story, and thanks to their new teacher Pierre their lives will change. A pretty enjoyable movie with lots of new blood and pottential and one great actors i really respect and admire, Antonio Banderas. ENJOY:D
