"I'm Tony Montana! You fuck with me, you fuckin' with the best!" This is one of my all time favorites and the first movie of Al Pacino I've seen. The story is incredible with a powerfull Pacino as Tony Montana. Full of memorables scenes and quotes as the scene of the chainsaw,or the ending with the big shooting in his mansion. Watch it,do this favour to yourself.
The godfather pt II this is my favourite of the trilogy. Al Pacino made one of the best interpretation of all time. This second time of the Corleone's story is mixed with some flashbacks about the story of a young Vito Corleone just arrived in America. There are two stories taht running in parallel, the climbing to the power of Vito and the fall of his son Michael. Well what can I say more? superb acting, great story, and about my opinion this is the greatest sequel ever made.
Full Metal Jacket is a great movie. Not the best from Kubrick, but works great as a war film. The plot is about a group of soldiers who are turned into killers in marine training, and are then sent off to the Vietnam War.
Kubrick is the true master of atmosphere in film. He makes you feel like you are there. The camera work was superb. I felt like I was walking through the movie with the Marines, from the barracks to the battlefield scenes.
The film is divided into two parts 1--Training 2--To the front

Charlie turns against modern society, the machine age, and progress. Firstly we see him frantically trying to keep up with a production line, tightening bolts. He is selected for an experiment with an automatic feeding machine, but various mishaps leads his boss to believe he has gone mad, and Charlie is sent to a mental hospital... When he gets out, he is mistaken for a communist while waving a red flag, sent to jail, foils a jailbreak, and is let out again. We follow Charlie through many more escapades before the film is out.
this movie is always modern. And this story of modern times, like all of Chaplin's films will end up with an optimistic feeling in a unhappy end. Never is everything lost. the final scene is very famous where there are chaplin and his woman who are walking on the way to the future with a smile on face.
It's one of the greatest movie ever made. It's a magnificent portrait of organized crime. Superb acting by especially Al Pacino as Mike Corleone and Marlon Brando as Don Vito corleone. I don't write the plot because I think that everybody knows the story of this masterpiece. This is definetely a "must see" masterpiece!
During the last days of the First World War, a clumsy soldier saves the life of devoted military pilot Schultz. Unfortunately, their flight from the advancing enemy ends in a severe crash with the clumsy soldier losing his memories. After quite some years in the hospital, the amnesia patient gets released and reopens his old barber shop in the Jewish ghetto. But times have changed in the country of Tomania: Dictator Adenoid Hynkel, who accidentally looks very similar to the barber, has laid his merciless grip on the country, and the Jewish people are discriminated against.
A 1940 masterpiece. Great the last scene where Chaplin himself hits one of his highest moments in the amazing sequence where he performs a dance of love with a large inflated globe of the world. Very funny the scene where they exchange the coins in puddings. And great the last scene where he ends the film with the barber's six-minute speech calling for peace and prophesying a hopeful future for troubled mankind.
Mel Brooks' masterpiece and a great gene wilder If you love comedies, but haven't seen Young Frankenstein, you're in for a delicious treat. After three decades, it still makes people laugh to death, and it's a must-see for every spoof lover in the world.
"Limelight" is Chaplin's final masterpiece. Charlie Chaplin, saves a suicidal ballerina, Claire Bloom. In the process of giving her the hope to move on and succeed, he regains the confidence to return to the stage himself. very famous the last scene where there is a sketch of chaplin with Buster Keaton, first time together.two legend of mute cinema.
some people say this is a mafia movie but for my opinion is like a action thriller. but it's a great movie!! I don't like very much Kevin Costner but here he gave a great performance.
Miscela tre film in uno, giallo, comico e azione. Prende in giro lo stereotipo dei film d'azione combinandolo con il classico humor nero inglese. Magnifica la sequenza finale dove c'č azione non stop.
Nicotine and caffeine are perfect together. A series of vignettes that all have coffee and cigarettes in common. Are all different stories but some of them are a little bit boring.
Fantastic! One of the years best comedies. A midget, hallucinogenic drugs, homosexuality, sibling rivalry, nudity, and a funeral come together in riotous chaotic harmony in Death at a Funeral. A english dark commedy with black humor. If you love black-humor, "Death at a funeral" is definitely a must-see movie!
Martial arts legend Huo Yuanjia became the most famous fighter in all of China at the turn of the 20th Century. Huo faced personal tragedy but ultimately fought his way out of darkness and into history, defining the true spirit of martial arts. His self-discovery, and the choices he made, inspired his nation.
Spectacular action sequences. The story want also teach us the respect not only for the Chinese but also for some of the foreign countries.
After the outbreak of a lethal virus in 2009, US Army virologist Lieutenant Colonel Robert Neville (Will Smith) is left as the last healthy human in New York City and possibly the entire world.
The action/suspense scenes coupled with superb sound direction were also heart pounding and unexpected which added to the "scare" factor.
This movie iis one of the better movies of 2007 and a must see.
It's a hot summer day in 1933 in South Philly, where 12-year old Gennaro lives with his widowed mom and his ailing grandpa, who sits outside holding tight to his last quarter, which he's promised to Gennaro and which Gennaro would like to have to buy a ticket to the plush new movie theater. But grandpa's not ready to pass on the quarter or pass on to his final reward: he has some unfinished business with a woman from his past, and he enlists Gennaro to act as his emissary.
This is a beautiful film in todays blockbuster big movie era. No special effects just emotions. A beautiful look at a relationship between a boy and his grandfather in the depression era.
Don't miss it.

A wonderful fantasy tale of action, adventure, and love! This movie has everything a fantasy movie should have, romance, clever witticisms, great acting and a fair dose of magic.

Charlie is later awakened by a kind policeman who reunites him with the Kid at Edna's mansion.
One Of The Most Memorable Silent Films Ever!!!
It is a wonderful blend of humor and drama. Charlie Chaplin's unique humor, combined with an involving storyline and strong sentimentality make this one to remember. Chaplin's humor ranges from pure slapstick to some clever stunts.
The "kid" - Jackie Coogan - is just as memorable, maybe even more so. He is unbelievably cute, especially in those old-time clothes he wore. Watching the expressions on his face, even as a baby, are fascinating and facial expressions certainly were a trademark of the silent era.
In few words A Must-See Silent Comedy, The special edition two-disc DVD has a restored version of the print so the picture is very clear.

When they stop in the small town of Madrid without gas, Dudley falls in love for the waitress and owner of the local bar Maggie. However, the "Del Fuegos" traps them in the town and the "Wild Hogs" have to take an attitude.
Almost Non Stop Laughs!! It is one of the funniest comedies i have seen in a while. And maybe one of the best commedies of 2007. John Travolta's performance is great here.
In Gladiator, victorious general Maximus Decimus Meridias has been named keeper of Rome and its empire by dying emperor Marcus Aurelius, so that rule might pass from the Caesars back to the people and Senate. Marcus' neglected and power-hungry son, Commodus, has other ideas, however. Escaping an ordered execution, Maximus hurries back to his home in Spain, too late to save his wife and son from the same order. Taken into slavery and trained as a gladiator by Proximo, Maximus lives only that he might someday take his revenge and fulfill the dying wish of his emperor. The time soon comes when Proximo's troupe is called to Rome to participate in a marathon of gladiator games held at the behest of the new emperor, Commodus. Once in Rome, Maximus wastes no time in making his presence known, and is soon involved in a plot to overthrow the emperor with his former-love Lucilla, Commodus' sister, after whom he lusts, and also the widowed mother of Lucius, heir to the empire after his uncle, and democratic-minded senator, Gracchus.
Won 5 Oscars. Gladiator is a masterpiece, one of the Greatest Movies Ever, the only thing that I don't like are the clothes, they aren't Faithful to the real clothes of that time.
oh my God McClane's back!! this maybe is the best action film of 2007.
When a criminal plot is in place to take down the entire computer and technological structure that supports the economy of the United States (and the world), it's up to a decidedly "old school" hero, police detective John McClane, to take down the conspiracy, aided by a young hacker.
It's superb direction, fantastic special effects, spectacular action scenes. no more words..rent it and watch it :)
Chaplin's last 'silent' film tells the story of a poor little man the tramp played by Chaplin who falls in love with a blind flower girl. He becomes friends with a wealthy man who constantly tries to commit suicide. The man only recognizes the tramp character when he is drunk. To impress the flower girl the tramp uses the man's wealth to make her fall in love with him. The only problem is that when the man is sober he doesn't recognize the tramp anymore. On top of this the flower girl has to pay 22 dollars of rent or she will be thrown out of her apartment. Now the tramp desperately seeks for jobs in the city to help his love.
What a movie!! Every scene is classic and had a huge impact on the history of film-making. It is regarded as one of the best endings ever taped on film. But for me the best ending of chapilin's movies is in "modern times". Also the music is superb always composed by Chaplin. A lot of people say this is the best chaplin's film but my favourite remains "Modern Times".
John Rambo is removed from prison by his former superior, Colonel Samuel Troutman, for a top-secret operation to bring back POW's still held in Vietnam. Rambo's assignment is to only take pictures of where the POWs are being held, but Rambo wants to get the POWs out of Vietnam. Teamed up with female Vietnamese freedom fighter Co Bao, Rambo embarks on a mission to rescue the POWs, who are being held by sadistic Vietnamese Captain Vinh and his Russian comrade, Lieutenant Colonel Padovsky. Rambo falls in love with Co Bao, and when Co Bao is killed by Captain Vinh, Rambo wants revenge, so he starts killing every enemy in sight while still focusing on his intentions to rescue the POWs. There are also corrupt American officials involved in the mission, including Marshall Murdock, one of Rambo's superiors.
Oh my God what a movie!! Rambo is an Icon. All action in this movie and is a great action, but sometimes some scenes can make you laugh. Very famous the scene of the dialog between him and Murdock on the radio. Murdock: Rambo, this is Murdock, we're glad you're alive. Where the hell are you? Give us your position and we'll come to pick you up! Rambo: Murdock... I'm coming to get you!
Set in Rome in the 1950s where Marcello (Marcello Mastroianni) covers the more sensational side of the news; movie stars, religious visions, and the decadent aristocracy. The film shows seven days and nights in the life of the reporter. Marcello is living with Emma (Yvonne Furneaux), a woman who loves him and wants a traditional marriage, but she is possessive and shows little ability to understand his unarticulated search for value and meaning in his life. He has encounters with other women ? Maddalena (Anouk Aimée), a beautiful, wealthy, and jaded friend/lover, and Anita Ekberg as an American movie star named Sylvia. Marcello also briefly meets an unspoiled and charming girl working at a beachside restaurant.
I open this review saying that it's very hard write a comment about this film. This isn't a film for all,I reccomend it to the people who loves old classic movies who consider the cinema as art.
As italian I love this film because it gave me the oppurtunity of knowing the high society's life in Roma (la cittŕ eterna) during the 60's. The movie is divided in Seven principal episodes: 1. Marcello's evening with the heiress Maddalena (Anouk Aimée);
2. his long and frustrating night with Sylvia (Anita Ekberg), the American movie star, that ends at dawn in the Trevi fountain;
3. his relationship with the intellectual Steiner (Alain Cuny). This episode is divided into three sequences: a) the encounter, b) the party, and c) the tragedy;
4. the fake miracle;
5. the aristocrat's party;
6. his father's visit;
7. the orgy at the beach.
Interrupting these seven episodes is the restaurant sequence with the angelic Paola; they are framed by a prologue (Christ statue over Rome) and epilogue (the monster fish), giving the film its innovative and symmetrically symbolic structure. The evocations of the number seven are : seven deadly sins, seven sacraments, seven virtues, seven days of creation.
Viggo Mortenssen and David Cronenberg together again.
Vincent Cassello and Viggo Mortensen are really convincing as gangsters and Naomi Wats makes a good work with the girl/character that is Anna.
The movie wants showing two worlds against, the criminal world of Mortensen and the world of the "normal people" rappresented by naomi watts. s watch it because is one of the best films of 2007.
Simply spectacular!! A masterpiece by coen's brothers. The character of Bardem is memorable!!! He's evil and crazy, but it's also memorable his smile. In this movie there is one of the best ending I ever seen.
Truman: "Good morning, and in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!"
I think this is a fantastic film. It is one of my favorites. I think it is funny, touching and even sad. this movie has also some Religious analogies.
The movie was relesaed before the advent of the reality shows but it reflects very good the society of today where milions of people go crazy for reality shows.
Persepolis is a life of a iranian girl a life in cartoons. A life during big changes in Iran. A iranian girl named Marjane of nine years old who lives during the islamic revolution, but who listens american rock music and wear adidas tennis shoes hating the veil, the "symbol" of her religion.
This isn't a movie for all. It's a movie that can let you know more things about the situation of the women in those coutries.
Chaplin said that this was the film for which he wanted to be remembered. The Gold Rush is one of Chaplin's best films, as well as one of his most famous. The Gold Rush has more than its share of memorable moments, from the Thanksgiving dinner to the dance of the dinner rolls to the cabin teetering on the edge of the mountain. The movie was also re-released with a narration in the early 1940s.
Well it's not simple say something about this movie. It's a simple and touching story. Extravagant situations between reality and dreams, funny and scary. movie makes you think about the relashionships that we have with the world, the parents, sons, the fear of the aging and also childhood fears as you can see during his dreams of when he was a child. People can have different opinions because this film can be watched from a lot of different points of views.
"How about a shave?" Dark and funny. Classic Tim Burton stuff. Depp is great! His looks are something of memorable. Is also great the interpretation of Alan Rickman. A great story of love and revenge with a cold and dark London as background. A joy for the eyes and ears.
The last time I saw it I was 7 years old, watching it again after 11 years I appreciated more than Iw as a little kid. Wow Ade is one of the best villain I ever seen.
this last chapter of the corleone's odyssey isn't great like the two chapters before. The story is a little bit confused,an old Michael with age crisis, business with the Vatican the death of the Pope by the end of some "mafiosi" make the story not really real. As always Al Pacino made a great job,he's very intesnse in this chapter of the trilogy.
"This is a simple story... but not an easy one to tell."
This film is a wonderful fable set during the Second World War. It's touching and funny at the same time. Benigni is able to put some irony even if it talks about tragics episodes as the war. He makes the same thing in "The tiger and the snow". In some scenes you can find the "the philosophy" of Chaplin, smile even if you are passing hard moments.
Just few words for this movie. One star for this original story One star for the character played by Nicholson. And one star for the beautiful ending. But don't expect a special movie.
"To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires and lights in a box. Good night, and good luck."
This is a fine film, perfect the choice of the black and white that gives a perfect old fashion style. David Strathaim is superb in the role of the famous 50's famous CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow. The last speech can remember the speech of Chaplin in the Great dictator. This movie is directed by Clooney, where he plays the role of the friend-collaborator of Murrow, and this is an another proof that he's a great director. This is a real story so it could be more appreciated by the Americans people.
This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Beautiful, deep, true, adventurous, sad and poetic. The landscapes are wonderful, mountains, plains, sky, rivers, animals as are wonderful and perfect the music. The acting is fantastic,Catherine Keener as an aging hippie vagabond, Vince Vaughn as a wacky farmer,William Hurt as Chris's dad,Marcia Gay Harden as the mom,. Emile Hirsch plays Chris doing a freat job.At the end when a photo of the real Chris McCandless comes on screen, you can see that Hirsch looks like him a lot. Many people can recognize themselves in character. who would not want to give up everything and leave for searching the freedom?
This film only has two actors, the legendary Michael Caine in the rol of the witer Wyke and Jude law in the role of Milo Tindle the new man of Wyke's wife.
The film starts off with the camera cutting through security cameras throughout Wyke's (Caine) countryside estate. When Tindle arrives you find out that he is the lover to Wyke's wife. He simply asks for him to agree to a divorce, but Wyke has much more planned than that. The film then spends the rest of its time playing out elaborate mind games of deceit and trickery that will keep you guessing until the last second.
Branagh's direction is brilliant. He uses new camera techniques,Branagh pulls off such interesting angles that it gives you different perspectives of what's going on in each scene.
this is the first short movie of Chaplin I've seen and i must admit that the qulality is equal to the long movies. As always the music is great, the gags are very funny. This short movie talks about Charlie who is an expert bricklayer who works very hard but who is also married with a wife that takes his pay. What can is ay more? watch it because this is an another excellent testament to Chaplin's comedic genius.
Shoot 'Em Up is exactly what it claims to be. A fantastic, adrenalinic action movie. Fantastic action, the best action i ever seen after Die hard 4.0
Clive Owen is great as Mr. Smith, the coolest action hero I have seen in a long time. Paul Giammatti is fantastic as the villiain. But Monica Bellucci is a fish out the water. The baby acts better then her! Oh well this is my opinion.
Una nota x gli italiani: Il metodo usato x doppiare Clive Owen non mi č piaciuto molto, boh forse č la voce del doppiatore, non so. Sentirlo parlare non č stato un piacere x me XD
This movie as the other of his movie is funny and with memorable scenes. But in this film something miss,it has something less then the other Chaplin's movies.
With We Own the Night, James Gray crafts a fantastic story with a style set apart from current films. The story is perfect, and I can say that in the second part is the revenge who reigns.
Mmm about the cast,Joaquin Phoenix is the heart, soul, and center of the film. Duvall does a good job in the role of the father of the two brothers,Mark Wahlberg uses one look, one emotion, to convey his character, and the Mendes oh well yeah she's good.
This movie will show you a slice of life in Saudi Arabia. The characters are real and the struggle to get to the truth is real. The interplay between the Americans and the Saudi troops really shows the differences in our cultures while also showing how police are police and just want the truth no matter where they come from.
I can say that the movie is separated in two parts. First part is the the part of the investigations. The second is the action moment, and what an action!! the two parts are connected perfectly.
This is much better than the first,in this there is more breakdance!! Great the scene of the last battle under the rain. Oh well but the story is ALWAYS the same uff!! Also the quotes are always the same... Watch it only if you like breakdance movies and hip hop. For me the best movie of the "breakdance" is "you got served".
"HENRI VERDOUX: Wars, conflict - it's all business. One murder makes a villain; millions, a hero. Numbers sanctify, my good fellow! "
"PRIEST: May the Lord have mercy on your soul. HENRI VERDOUX: Why not? After all, it belongs to Him."
A great Chaplin's black comedy or as the "movie" says "A comedy of murders". This is one of Chaplin´s best sound films.
It´s the story of a fired bank clerk who goes into business for himself, marrying and murdering rich women for their money that then he uses for his family, the "real" wife and the son.
His directing is superb, the script is wonderful (born from the mind of Orson Welles) and the acting is superb, one of his best performance.
This is not like others chaplin's movies so don't watch it you don't like black comedies.
This movie has remembered me the movie "keeping mum" directed by Niall Johnson with Rowan Atkinson,so if you liked "monsieur verdoux" give a look also at "keeping mum"
We can say this is a little bit autobiographical movie. Chaplin is setting up his own troubles with the anti-American activities commission on the screen, and that is quite funny though particularly dramatic. It contains some very pungent observations on the American way of life and American society of that period. And I think that most of the americans will not apprecciate it.
Chaplin plays King Shahdov, a deposed monarch who flees to America in the hopes of selling his plans for a peaceful, nuclear-based society, which never happens. And during his stay he meets several people who give life to funny and touching moments.
The Prestige is a masterful exercise in storytelling with superb direction and powerful performances by a grand ensemble cast. Much better than "the Illusionist".
Maybe someone can find this movie a little bit confused,oh yeah I haven't understood yet very well the end.
This is my first taste of Buster Keaton, and I must say:WOW!
The scenes that I loved are the pool table bit, and the scene where Buster Keaton jumps into the cinema screen, and immerses himself in the onscreen action.
"Elderly Man: In the church, they say to forgive. Creasy: Forgiveness is between them and God. It's my job to arrange the meeting. "
This movie was a true gem! The story is excellent, never corny and although having 146 minutes running time, the viewer does not feel time passing. The cast is composed by excellent actors and actresses, their performances are outstanding, highlighting Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning and Radha Mitchell. I few words perfect, just Perfect. Do yourselves a favor and watch it!
Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce appeared as Sherlock Holmes & Dr. Watson on screen for the twelfth time in this enjoyable fast moving film. Not the best of the series by any means, it still offers the two wonderful actors adding nuances to the classic characters: Holmes seems a tad more human and enjoys a kiss from a pretty female, while Watson raises his voice to sing Loch Lomand.
The plot, which has the intrepid duo escort a college boy monarch (Leslie Vincent) on a dangerous cruise from Britain to North Africa, is a bit silly, but it does serve to introduce some intriguing characters, including a frightened singer (Marjorie Riordan), a strident fresh air fanatic (Rosalind Ivan), a nervous little fellow with a big knife (Martin Kosleck), and a strangely obliging steward (Morton Lowry).
Recommended to all the fans of the books of Sherlock holmes. It's better watch it after have read the book.
This is a wonderful film. It's a comedy with enough serious moments to give a person time to pause and think. Young girl emigrates with her mom from Mexico and settles in California. Mom (being in America illegally) settles as a housekeeper for Sandler and Leoni.
Good acting, but Tča Leoni is so annoying,no sympathy for her.
Oh my God the sandwich that Sandler eat in the movie suppose to taste good!! If you look in the special features there is the recipe.
Cloverfield is a movie like nothing I've seen before. It's a film about a giant monster attacking Manhattan all seen through the perspective of hand-held camera.
The effects look great and realistic thanks to the hand-held camera. This new way of filming makes you feel like you were in the action, on the streets running in fear alongside the citizens.
Watch it because this movie is like a breath of fresh air.
The Waterfront Crime Commission is about to hold public hearings on union crime and underworld infiltration. As workers are turned against each other, Terry Malloy inadvertently participates in the murder of fellow longshoreman Joey Doyle. Union boss Johnny Friendly orchestrates the murder along with other illegal dockside activities, aided by Terry's brother Charley. Terry begins to feel pangs of conscience. When Joey's sister Edie sees more in Terry than he sees in himself and Father Barry urges him on, Terry reassesses his past and begins to regain responsibility for his actions.
On The Waterfront has the perfect mixture of love, suspense, and crime. The acting not just by Brando but the whole cast is great and the ending the final redemption of Terry Malloy iis terrific..
Ridley Scott is brilliant. The battle scenes are great especially the last one. The only thing that it didn't work is Orlando Bloom. He just wasn't the right guy for this role.
American Gangster is a perfect gangster film. A rise and fall film based on a true story.
Denzel Washington delivers a marvelous performance of a man calm and patient yet heart-stopping ferocious at some points, fearless and ambitious but likable as always. When he's not talking, just the way his face is set, he totally gets in this character. Russel Crowe delivers a good performance,i think there's a great chemistry between them even though few scenes bring them face to face. Richie Roberts is in danger for being one of the few cops that actually do their jobs and refuse to take bribe so i think there's a big resemblance between Richie Roberts and Frank Serpico (played by Al Pacino in 1973).
Ridley Scott's direction is brilliant, just look the short but brutally effective opening scene.
Maybe some pople can say t's too long..about 2 hours 37 minutes, but it never loses interest.
"Midshipman Edward 'Ned' Young: Fletcher, I'm proud to be with you. Fletcher Christian: Well you've done rather well, Ned. Promoted to the rank of criminal. Not even 20 and a death sentence on your head."
Many have criticized Brando's portrayal of Christian, and I simply do not understand this. Did we see the same film? This is one of his best performance. But also Trevor Howard is terrific playing the role of the Capt. William Bligh.
The story is beautiful. After the hardship of a horrendous voyage to the island, the romance and humor of the Tahitian sequence was a welcome relief. It's a long movie but you'll never have the sensation of being sit on your couch.
Brando plays Johnny, leader of a motorcycle gang calling itself the Black Rebels, which terrorizes Wrightsville, a little American town. The gang members release their frustrated emotions by racing, overturning a car, and by vicariously participating in a savage fight between Johnny and Chino (Lee Marvin), formerly a part of Johnny's gang but now a rival club... Violence escalates when the town forms a vigilante committee, and inevitably there is an accidental killing.Johnny is saved from wrongful arrest by Kathie (Mary Murphy), a local girl who, in spite of herself, falls in love with him.
"The Wild One" introduces the motorcycle as the symbol of youth rebellion. An influential classic.
If you're expecting Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to be a fourth in the series, you'll be disappointed. The original three were set in the 1930s, looking for buried treasure in a Treasure of the Sierra Madre style. The new film is set in the 1950s, and that changes everything. The film itself is well written, and well made with only a few exceptions. some of the animation and action sequences seemed too difficult to believe (even for an Indy film) like the monkey-rope scene. The only thing that I hate the most is Shia LaBeouf dressed like Marlon Brando in "the wild one"..I can't accept that!
The Lion King is a great animation movie. With a great story (it seems like a Shakespeare's tragedy). A story that is funny, emotional, and drammatic and with a moral:responsibility and honor. I think all of you know the story.
The animation is terrific, the songs are wonderful. A film for all ages so watch iit ;)
"Alla visita di leva il medico mi disse che avevo sei mesi di vita. Anni dopo l'ho cercato per dirgli che ero ancora vivo. Era morto lui."
"Il divo" is the greatest Italian movie from so many years. It's about the "spectacular" life of the 7 times Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti. He's a controversial character he seems quite as a saint but he can be ruthless. One of his famous aphorism is: "power tires those who don't have it" And of course this movie is a view of Italian politics in the 70ies, 80ies and 90ies. ah and the Servillo's performance is perfect!
"Per un ricco mori č come paga il conto alla vita: paga, sě, ma la vita gli ha dato qualche cosa. Invece il poveraccio paga e dalla vita non ha avuto niente. Che fa il poveraccio? Passa dalla morte a un'altra morte."
This is a very good film by Pier Paolo Pasolini. This movie has three diferent parts, and there are lots of hidden things that have an important message. We can say that this movie is like a fable. And it's deliciously acted by Toto and Ninetto Davoli.
Psycho is brilliant. Hitchcock gave this film excellent direction, and the acting is superb. Especially Anthony Perkins playing the role of Norman Bates. The direction is excellent, from the intense facial close-ups to the distant and unusual camera angles. It's a must see!
"Non bevi, non fumi, non sai nemmeno guidare la macchina?ma ti godi la vita tu?"
Vittorio Gassman is perfect in the role of Bruno. Great cast especially the supporting role of J. L. Trintignant. Adorable and very sexy the beautiful teenager daughter of Bruno played by Catherine Spaak. Il Sorpasso depicted in great reality the sweet bitter life of the 60's in Italy. The perfect road movie, filled with deep characters and great locations between Rome the Tuscan Riviera. This film is filled with humor and sadness.
Wonderful!!! Cinderella Man is in my opinion one of the best boxing movies ever made. Probably because it's not all about boxing. The story-line is revealed so artistically that as the film progresses, one actually understands what James Braddock goes through. The fact that this is a true story makes the film look even better! The entire cast was great but Russell Crowe and Paul Giamatti are superb. I've lost a lot of tears on this movie.
One of Keaton's funniest shorts. The story in a Buster Keaton short is not that important, once he starts doing those great things on screen I don't want it to end. The camera is able to see four rooms at the same time and Keaton moves from room to room, through walls and ceilings. It is all great.
WALL-E, Pixar's latest film, is about a robot named WALL-E who is the only thing left on earth with some sort of emotion. He meets another robot named EVE, and the trip begins. It's hard to describe in words how incredible I personally find this film. The animation looks real. The story is brilliant and I don't call this a child's film at all because it has also adult material, like some homages to other films. This is a piece of art,is magic!
This story is about a boy named Friedrich, a talented young boxer, who is recruited to one of Hitler's National Political Academies.
It is almost impossible to find a WWII film without some spin about the holocaust. We only see the allied side of history. But finally this film is a portrait of how the Nazis formed the young guys. It's powerful and disturbing, impressive and touching.
"Smart:A titolo informativo,io di solito preferisco gli slip, danno piů sicurezza e tranquillitŕ,l'uccello sventolante non č il mio ideale, non mi ci riconosco"
"Smart:Ritengo mio dovere avvertirvi che questo posto č circondato da uno sceltissimo team di ben 130 teste di cuoio ben addestrate. Siegfried:Io non ti credo. Smart:E ci crederesti ad un commando della Delta Force? Siegfried:No Smart:Chuck Norris col fucile a pallini?"
It is funny from beginning to end. And there are some points in the movie where you'll laugh hard.
Die Fälscher has the advantage of being a true story which falls into the sub-heading of Incredible Stories Of World War Two. This movie presents the moral dilemma,to survive or not survive and in this case survival means aiding the Nazis in world domination. I highly recommend this to everyone.
This is a terrific movie. Superbly written and directed. It talks about the morality in the decisions that we take so the judge on this movie dipends from our own personality and taste. An applause to the wonderful performance of Forest Whitaker.
Truffaut has worked wonders here, creating a masterful tale of a boy confused, troubled, and unloved. Antoine Doinel has strict, unfaithful parents, and a harsh, oppressive teacher, and falls into delinquency because of his unhappiness. He lies, steals, skips school and runs away from home, and soon ends up in a juvenile delinquency centre. Truffaut's inspiration for this film came from his own depressed childhood. And he also made a cameo in the film in the style of Hitchcock.
Umberto D directed by Vittorio De Sica is a sad albeit ordinary tale of the loss of human values in Italian society after the end of second world war. The main character is an old man named Umberto Domenico Ferrari who refuses to give up on life. His only true friend is his dog Flike, and the young, pretty, and pregnant maid. It is horrible that nobody is willing to help, and this was fifty years ago. It's unfortunate that things are even worse now.
I loved the dark feel of the movie. Christopher Nolan made Gotham perfectly. Heath Ledger did do an awesome job as the joker, and I feel he actually does deserve an Oscar for his performance. Christian Bale also did very well as Batman, much better than everyone else who's done Batman in the past. Excellent but not a masterpiece
This film is Truffaut's love-letter to the art of cinema. The anecdotes surrounding the filming of Meet Pamela are collected from the director's experiences throughout his film-making career. But he also used the film to examine his lifelong passion for cinema, and to honor his favorite directors (e.g. Hitchcock, Welles, Cocteau). In few words La Nuit Américaine is a fantastic portrait of cinema making, made for those who live the cinema.
The movie tells the same story from 8 different perspectives, most of them from a character view and finally adds up to make a great ending. I didn't find any part as boring in Vantage Point. The music and action was unbelievable and extremely moving with a lot of suspance. And the acting is great.
I had a lot of fun watching this movie. Kung Fu Panda is an entertaining movie that anyone could enjoy. It has excellent animation.Everything seems so realistic. And it has spectacular fight scenes.
This movie is excited, exhausting and heartbreaking. It's almost hard to watch but you'll be glad that you did. The acting from the excellent ensemble cast is incredible,Philip Seymour Hoffman putting in an outstanding performance. The script is excellent, the story-line non-linear but easy enough to follow.
The Heartbreak Kid is a romantic comedy directed by the Farrelly brothers and starring Ben Stiller. It describes a man named Eddie who has trouble building a relationship with women. With some encourage from his father, Eddie decides to date a woman he meets on the street. Soon after, they get married and go on a honeymoon to Mexico. During this time, Eddie realizes that she isn't the wife he envisioned. The acting is good and the dialog and the story are good enough. The Heartbreak Kid depends on your taste,if you like comedies, you will probably think it's good. It will give you some good laughs, but did not bring in any fresh ideas.
"Ladri di biciclette" is the story of a poor Italian who can't get a job. Finally he stumbles upon one that he can have if he had a bicycle. So his wife sells their bed sheets for this bike so he can work. His first day on the job the bike gets stolen and this could mean devastation for his families economy. Not wanting this to happen he sets out with his son Bruno as they search Rome looking for the bike. The film shows the grim economic realities of post-war Rome. Touching and very emotional. It is truely a great film, and one that can be watched time and time again without losing any of his powerful and emotive qualities. What can I say more? I recommend this film to anyone.
The acting is great, specially by De Niro but Jerry Lee Lewis is also good. It's about a 34-year old man(De Niro) who dreams about becoming a big stand up comedian just like his idol. It shows the backsides of being famous and it does it very well.
Oh my God this movie is excellent! Speed Racer is one of the few movies I can remember that had my adrenaline flowing. The race scenes are just incredible. The cast is great. The acting is superb and it is an artistic feast for the eyes. It has a wonderful storyline serious and deep. So don't listen to the critics and who said negative things about it. Give a chance to this movie.
"Rebel without a Cause" perfectly captures that time in a teenagers life, when one feels that the entire world is against them. Jim Stark the main character is played brilliantly by James Dean, also Sal Mineo as Plato and Natalie Wood as Jucy are perfect in their roles. Suffice it to say this is a must for all to see, even in today's age.
Hancock is a very good film Will Smith, as always, does an outstanding job as Hancock and the special effects were pretty good too but the plot is a little thin. If you're a fan of Will Smith and his roles in action, sci-fi, comedy or a blend of all three, go see this film.
I must say that 'Righteous Kill' is a B-movie with a great cast and good acting, the story is satisfactory. Obviously, this movie stars two of the greatest actors in history. Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino. They are fantastic together and have great chemistry. The main element is that it is a psychological cop-drama. It never seems too unbelievable or boring. Overall, 'Righteous Kill' is great entertainment.
This film is about an obsessive chef clashing with a carefree chef who invades her kitchen after a horrible accident killing her sister. Wonderful film. Catherine Zeta great and beautiful as always. Aaron Eckhart terrific and that little Abigail Breslin is simply fabulous in this movie.
Starts out a little slow, but gets onto the good stuff immediately. Robert Downey Jr. does a great job as Tony Stark, as does Gwyneth Paltrow. Iron Man has some of the best special effects but I believe there should have been more action sequences, not a whole bunch. Overall, Iron Man is a great superhero movie, great actors and excellent visuals. try to watch it on blu-ray with an HD tv it's a lot better.
This movie has some of the most hilarious scenes i've seen in a movie in quite a while, and basically makes fun of everything movie, from the over-the top commercialist trailers, to the heavy gadgets, actors who takes acting too seriously, and heavy handed evil producers. Great performance by all especcially Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise. And I want to remember to all that also Steve Coogan played in a great way his role.
The story has elements of war, bible, brotherhood, the exuberance of youth to achieve, the frustration of being not loved by your parent. Just to watch it O_O
Another well made historic fiction which again points a finger at the U.S. for not acting as role models though they claim to be. This movie is unique in that it gives us something from a journalist's perspective. The Hunting party does not cover all aspects of the complex and brutal Bosnian war of the 90s. It is obvious that such movies can't possibly cover all aspects of a war, it has to pick and choose a perspective it thinks will make a good and informative movie.
Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis is a simple film centred on the misconceptions that those in the south of France have about the North and the Ch'tis dialect spoken in parts of the North. The misconceptions, about the weather, culture, food etc, are taken to extremes but very funny. Watch it and good laughs.
This film creates some brilliant characters and produces some hilarious gags- It's a clever film and requires your full attention throughout to work out who knows about who and what's going on where. Brilliant performances come from Brad Pitt, George Clooney and most notably Frances McDormand, and the Coens once again manage to make a film that is highly enjoyable.
I had interest in seeing In Bruges because of all the great reviews I had heard about it. And the film did not disappoint me. In Bruges is a brilliant movie with many positive elements. The best element from this movie is the screenplay. It shows intelligence on a lot of occasions and it has a lot of excellent dialogs. An another great element of it is the characters,Colin Farrell,Ralph fiennes and Brendan Gleeson made great performances. This movie has moments it makes you laughing your head off, then less than 10 seconds later you are struck silent by the emotional depth. A little gem.
At first, I was hesitant, but let me tell you this: I was enthralled! The film is beautiful. The motions and scene shifts, the colors, the vibrancy, creates a magical sort of feeling. Just one word:MAGIC!
The thing you notice is the cinematography: the film is beautifully shot, as you can see it in every scene. It really manages to capture the essence of the story making great use of the shadows for the more dark scenes but also of the beautiful landscapes. The acting was amazing Daniel Day Lewis is terrific!! Don't forget the great performance of Paul Dano.
Simply Amazing! Tropa de elite puts the characters in their right places as villains and good guys and shows how tiny is the line between them. It shows corrupt police but also the police who really cares about defeating the traffic and protecting people. It shows all the hypocrisy of the high and medium class people who feeds the traffic by acquiring, dealing and consuming drugs and later going on streets to protest against violence. They are shown as victims of their own way of life. If the critics to the society isn't what your looking for, then simply know this is quite an excellent action movie as long. Scenes are so real you will feel inside them.
Sympathy for Mr Vengeance follows the story of Kang-ho Song, played brilliantly by Park-Dong jin, whose daughter is kidnapped with terrible consequences. This film has twists and turns galore, a fair old helping of violence, stunning acting from everyone and a simply amazing story-line. You will be immersed, hooked, shocked, saddened and completely blown away. And the result will leave you breathless and in admiration of the genius that is Chan-wook Park.
It is a bizarre, quirky movie which still maintains satire of the cold war. Peter Sellers delivers multiple roles with stellar acting, and supporting actors such as George C. Scott and Sterling Hayden fair no worse. Stanley Kubrik directed this movie to near perfection, as well. I especially remember the final line of the movie, Dr. Strangelove's memorable line: "Mein Furher! I can walk!". Amazing satire and great dark comedy.
Giant is indeed epic, in it's length at two hundred minutes and it's grandeur in telling the story of three generations of Texas cattle ranchers. The story of Big "Bick" Benedict and his fiery wife Leslie Lynnton is just the lead in to surprisingly poignant tale of racial tolerance, women's lib and ambition gone away. Rock Hudson was great in this movie as well, but the stellar performances really belong to Taylor and Dean who made their characters come alive - Leslie with her compassion and intelligence, and Jett Rink with his big dreams, and incredible ignorance.
I found W to be entertaining, but nothing more than an unbelievable caricature of George W. Bush and his cronies. Everything from the satanic foot lighting in scenes where Bush's staff were present to the totally surreal, bobble head, tick ridden depiction of Condoliza Rice rendered Stone's agenda utterly transparent and distracting.
Intense war drama about an elite Bomb Squad whose job is to disarm and diffuse deadly bombs that plagues modern day Iraq. Rarely does a woman captivate the action junkies out there by putting together a series of intense, breath taking scenes and with the lightning fast pace she simply won't let you recover and you'll find yourself glued to the screen for the whole two hours of the movie. Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie and Brian Geraghty all gave good performances. But why anybody of my buddy list hasn't seen it?
It creates a new type of style for animated films, foreign films, and even documentaries. It has powerful writing and a strong sense of direction and force. The images and surreal world it creates is such a powerful thought that gets copied in your head. The animation designs, the images, the sound, they are so beautiful, and at the same time very disturbing, very realistic, but so fantastical.
Casablanca is a flawless film that is both sad and hilarious. It is a wonderful melodrama that keeps you hooked. The plot is wonderful and always makes perfect sense. The screenplay is just as amazing with flawless and quotable dialogue and amazing twists and characters. The performances are the best part of the movie. Humphrey Bogart gives one of his best performances and is amazing but it is Ingrid Bergman who is the standout. Casablanca is a classic that should be seen by everyone. memorable the scene where everyone sings the Marseilles in contrast to the Germans singing the anthem of the reich.
This movie is based on a real story. It has lots of keys of interpretations especcially if you are italian. So i don't fell to write a review. all can i say is that it touched a lot my heart and spike lee and the actors made a great job.
"It's a Wonderful Life" is a movie that you can watch over and over again. The movie makes you think about life in general and how each person makes a difference. It's about life with all it's ups and downs and about how great life can be. It also entertains with many light hearted moments, particularly towards the end of the film.
The cast is excellent. I'm especially fond of James Stewart's performance, and the direction of Capra is second to none.
"It's a Wonderful Life" is literally a wonderful, multi-layered, romantic, serious, funny, touching and inspiring movie, much like life itself.
The curious case of benjamin button is a magical film with performances from Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett and Taraji P. Henson that light up the screen with a story that never seems almost three hours long. Button reminded me of a Forest Gump combined with Big Fish and if you didn't like either one of those movies, I suggest that you stay clear away from this movie.
it doesn't matter if you like or don't like Tome cruise, you should watch this movie. Cruise isn't where the emotion of this movie comes from. His portrayal of Colonol Stauffenburg is one dimensional: entirely focused on killing Hitler. That being said, Cruise doesn't get in the way of the movie. It is the rest of the cast, which is mainly English, that shines. Bill Nighy's portrayal of Freidrich Olbricht is brilliant, combining cold calculation and quivering indecisiveness. One probably knows how this will end, considering Hitler wasn't assassinated, so the ending shouldn't come as a shock. It is this final scene where the movie reaches it true potential, watching their reactions to their imminent death is truly emotional. This movie is also an occasion for know about Von Stauffenberg and his attempt to kill Hitler. Because just few people know the courage of these men during the WWII.
The parkour aspect of the film was stunning and very well choreographed. The Martial Arts in this film are performed to perfection and never disappoint. With fantastic performances from David Belle and Cyril Rafaelli and great choreography this film is simply fantastic. In my opinion this is the best Action/Martial Arts film in the last couple of years.
I am completely devastated, this is such an incredibly moving film. Incredible performances from all the actors, but especially Asa Butterfield (Bruno), Vera Farmiga (Mother) and Jack Scanlon (Schmuel). The whole film is extremely realistic and that adds to the intense impact of this film. Overall, an interesting concept of The Holocaust from an another "point of view" that definitely worth viewing.
This film is one of Eastwood career best. He is perfectly cast and his acting is classic Clint. His role is the gruff upholder of good and protector of the damaged and oppressed. The plot is not overly predictable and is rich in emotion. I must say that although Clint is in his late 70's, he has maintained his good looks and charisma.
Written and directed by Gianni di Gregorio (most recently contributing to the acclaimed Gomorrah),Pranzo di ferragosto is a gem, by turns comic, embarrassing, engaging and emotionally affecting. This is a small but beautifully rendered drama of manners that captures the nuances of people's behaviour. Mid-August Lunch is a charming and convincing first feature from di Gregorio.
A realistic, brutal, ruthless crime tale which recalls the story of Jacques Mesrine, the famous gangster, the intended public enemy number one. Fabolous performances by all the actors/actress,above all Vincente Cassel. The film is divided in two parts, and this is the first one. Don't miss it,you don't need to be a French for enjoy this movie
Entre le murs is a film about a teacher and his class of 13-year old students with different ethnics, races and cultures. The main topic are the school's problems of a school collocate in a Paris immigrant area. The teacher tries to teach, but mostly, he tries to communicate with the pupils. In some cases he's successful and in some cases not. There's a documentary feeling here, which means the acting is extremely good. The teacher also performs a small war towards his colleagues, who wants to discipline the pupils. But there are no action scenes here. Not more than you can find in real life. Good picture about living people. One year passes. Some of the pupils have a future and some haven't. There are different destinies ahead. But the teacher will remain there.
Simply brilliant. Pacino was terrific in it,also great act by Paul Guilfoyle. Their performance is enigmatic and disturbing, while their characters clearly were very evil and hateful people. It's a disturbing and unforgettable experience.
Paul Newman plays one of his most famous roles as pool shark Fast Eddie Felson - a young man who's dreaming of beating Minnesota Fats (a memorable Jackie Gleason). Unfortunately for Eddie, it doesn't happen the easy way due to Eddie's self-destructive character. The film's strongest part is definitely the acting by every actor involved. Aside Newmam and Gleason, there is also a nice performance by Piper Laurie as Eddie's girl and some strong acting by George C. Scott ("Patton") as Eddie's sleazy and greedy manager. The pool game scenes are very well shot and along with intelligent dialogs and beautiful black and white cinematography.
Can't add much to what has already been said except that this movie is absolutely hypnotic, primarily due to the lush music and photography. Jimmy Stewart rules, like always also a great Kim Novak. The story is perfectly crafted and a bit complex so be sure to pay attention when you see it. Any movie fan needs to see it.
Click is not a typical comedy film, with two different parts to it. Apart from the predictable (but very funny) gags, there was an important moral to the film which was put across very effectively in the film. The acting was very good, all the cast performed very well - throughout the funny and serious parts. In conclusion, an excellent film, you do need to concentrate to fully appreciate the film, it really suits people who can relate to the story or contemplate it. I'm sure it could make the toughest of people cry.
North by Northwest has romance, international intrigue, and comedy. It has a little something for everybody. Hitchcock made a lot of good movies but North by Northest is definitely one of his greatest. It is a great, edge of your seat thriller that defies what prior movies had told it to be. It is an original, exciting film with three great performances from three big names(Saint, Mason, and Grant). Mistaken identities happen can happen at almost anytime and being mistaken for someone else by the wrong person can be extremely scary.
The plot of millions in property is just a subtext for the usual coincidences and great characters. Not as violent as you might expect and very confident and funny this is really escapist entertainment. great movie from mr Guy Ritchie ;)
If you're looking for your typical karate kid stuff well, this one's not for you. Just a bit dragging in the beginning but trust me when I say that it gets better in the middle part of the movie up until the dramatic ending. Just hang in there and the movie will touch some part of you. The movie is about a guy who has so much respect for himself and for what he believes in that he gets blinded most of the time. He trusts so much in the innate goodness of people that he almost always forgets that there are a lot of people out there who just want to get ahead at the expense of others.
As a major fan of both Jet Li and Jackie Chan, I am so thrilled that they finally made a movie together. The story has the perfect blend of drama, comedy, and action melded into an interesting fantasy plot. The acting is also amazing. Even Jet Li does well acting. The emotional scenes are very good. There are hardly any dull parts to this film. Fans of Jackie Chan and Jet Li should be satisfied with this collaboration between the two action stars.
A great, well written and terrificly acted film from beginning to end. Jimmy Stewart's major breakthrough role is still one of his best. He plays Jefferson Smith, newly appointed senator from Montana who upon his first visit to Washington, is being mocked by the newspapers and accused of stealing children's money! Stewart does a fantastic job maintaining the emotional and comical aspects simultaneously. Claude Rains is also very good as the "evil" Senator Joseph Payne who tries destroying Smith's reputation. An outstanding supporting cast, accurate direction, genuine writing and a patriotic score make this film a classic...a memorable classic!
"Anatomy of a Murder"(1959) is a riveting courtroom drama that has kept my interest for 160 minutes. Jimmy Stewart was a shining star as a small town lawyer. A former ADA, he took a job as a defender for a jealous army lieutenant (Ben Gazarra - now, he WAS a revelation and an extremely attractive man back in 1959) who pleads innocent in murdering the rapist of his very seductive young wife (Lee Remick). The other joy of "Anatomy of a Murder" is George C. Scott in a role of ADA Claude Dancer. The gripping exchanges between Scott and Stewart literally keep the viewers on the edge of their seats. The film is masterfully shot by Otto Preminger and features a brilliant music by Duke Ellington. It is packed with excitement, controversy, passion and intrigue where nothing and no one are what they seem.
This movie had a very strong script that felt very honest & humble, and what I mean by that is, it didn't need/rely on any extravagant twists/turns in order for it be interesting and suspenseful. It managed to intrigue and excite with a single plot. The performance given by the actors in this film is what gives it the extra quality that makes it an especially good and entertaining movie. They all live up to their names/status and deliver solid performances that remind us why they're A-list actors. It's also worth mentioning that the supporting actors/actresses are equally impressive. In conclusion, this was a great movie and I highly recommend it to everyone, especially action/drama fans. Buuut it's not a classic like Serpico.
One of the strongest experience I had by seeing a war film. I absolutely love this movie because it shows us how much these men go through to try and make the world a better place. This movie so realistically captures the two different styles of war (USA and Somalia); one being incredibly organized and technically superior, and the other being disorganized but fighting with reckless abandon. The gunfire-scenes are amazing as are the injuries and the treatment of them. It wasn't may be that massacre that in Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan was, but some shots are rather disgusting. A must-see for anyone thinking war is glorious.
This is a suspenseful story, part science fiction, part thriller, which will challenge viewers to decide what they believe in the aforementioned debate. And unlike the sensation we find in some suspense stories, viewers won't have to suspend much belief to go along for the ride. John's journey happens step be step, each event happening in perfectly logical order. Is John creating his own story or is he just following the steps laid out for him long ago?
I enjoyed the movie all the way right up until they made it a bit too unrealistic at the end. Once you've seen it you'll know what I'm talking about...it was an interesting mix of both hope and loss. The disaster scenes were grisly and disturbing. Cage did a great job of post-traumatic shock that was played just right.
Garage is a 2007 realist (even hyper-realist) film by Irish director Lenny Abramson. The film centers on the daily life of Josie (a petrol station worker who lives in a small Irish village) and the social relations he holds with his neighbor villagers. One of the most interesting aspects of the film is the interpretation of Pat Shortt embodying the naďve Josie. The protagonist of the film is an adorable simpleton who enjoys his banal life and his boring employment at the petrol station. Despite of his utter solitude, everything seems to be alright for Josie, even when he is deliberately mocked he seems to be absolutely happy. He enjoys the pleasures of this routine but it will change when a teenager is designed to help him at the petrol station. A trip in the loneliness and monotont of life...
"We hear a telephone rings. This call can be for anyone but then we can't stop ourselves picking up."
Colin Farrell stars in this great thriller as Stu Sheperd, a New York publicist, who answers the phone in a phone booth and is told that if he hangs up then he will be shot. Stu slowly realises how dangerous the man calling is as proof of the sniper is shown and Stu begins to fear for his life. Phone Booth is a gripping thriller that will keep you hooked till the very end. It has great acting by Colin Farrell and Kiefer Sutherland. It is also very well written and is will keep you on the edge of your seat for the whole movie.
I actually think this is a really good movie ( considering it's a 3rd episode ). It's fast paced, it keeps you in your seat for all the time. It does exactly what it should do. It entertains you! For all who would say unreal or something like that to some things in the movie i'll say: If you want real, watch a documentary! Action = Entertainment. I also have to say something good about Jason...Jason...Jason. He's good as always, knows how to act and OH Of course...the choreography is just awesome. All for all there were some small things that were a bit off, but since it kept me seated the whole length without making me bored and since i was satisfied.
"This here's Miss Bonnie Parker. I'm Clyde Barrow. We rob banks."
I just finished watching it and this was a film that really touched me. Based on the infamous 1930's bank-robbing-murderous team of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow; Beatty and Dunaway are excellent in the leading roles with splendid support from Hackman and Oscar winner Parsons. The Music is effective, the cinematography is beautiful, the main exception to that one being one sequence where the director uses a filter on the camera that makes it seem out of place with the rest of the film. this film deserves to be seen, mostly for its historical importance in influencing modern cinema action violence.. A classic!
Humorous movie in every aspect. The tale of how three friends tries to find the lost groom before his wedding after their crazy night in Las Vegas. The movie gets funny from the Las Vegas part right till the end. There is hilarious stuff in every other scene. Not to be missed, one of the best comedy of 2009.
'Terminator Salvation' is an excellent scifi/action movie that really doesn't need to be taken seriously. It's big. It's loud. It's action packed. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this movie. It has great CGI effects, great characters, and a solid plot.John Conner is taken over by Christain Bale, who has his own share of great movies that include 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight'. Entertaining Terminator film
there are some stereotyped behaviors, either from gay or heterosexual characters, but fits very well in the play, and are not very far away from some real truths. Most of gags work very well, the story is credible and having in mind that is a comedy for all family is a good entertainment. And Javier Cámara is fantastic!!
""You don't remember me? We spoke on the phone two days ago. I told you I would find you."
"Non ti ricordi di me? Abbiamo parlato due giorni fa. Ti avevo detto che ti avrei trovato."
The movie is really, really exciting - it is one of the only films in a long time to give me a true sensation of excitement. Great entertainment and acting. Good solid timing from the start. Liam was solid - great believable character building in the middle of all fighting. And he makes me care about this guy - lonely dad who gave up everything to be close to his daughter. The supporting characters were very good too. The actor playing the corrupt french cop was brilliant. I was expecting more from Famke Janssen. Photography was beautiful and the camera work superb. I was totally Taken ;)
Falling Down is the kind of movie everyone can sort of identify with. Take one ordinary man, trying to live his life the best he can, then put him in a traffic jam in blazing heat and then watch him crack. Michael Douglas gives one of his best performances playing William Foster, a man who has just lost his job and his mind. It is left to retiring cop Robert Duvall to stop him before he reachs his child and former wife. The ending is terrific, memorable. Remember it could happen to you.
This is a film that you just can't take your eyes off. It has everything a good film should have and moves you in ways that may surprise you. Angelina Jolie is excellent and you totally believe she is experiencing these things. John Malkovich as Reverend Gustav Briegleb, is very good and believable, Michael Kelly as detective Lester Ybarra, is also perfectly cast. But the honour should surely go to Clint Eastwood who directs this film with such pace that what would normally be too long for a film seems too short. At the end you may feel a little cheated and wish it could have continued. The movie gives us the message that sometimes one ray of hope is enough to live our entire life. The movie leaves us with a lump in the throat and a positivity. I cannot recommend this film enough.
When I saw this I hadn't read the graphic novel and was expecting a good superhero movie. Ya know like the Dark Knight, or Iron Man. But I was surprised to find that it more than just a good superhero movie, in fact it transcended the superhero genre! It revealed the darker side of the superheroes, it showed us why they were invented, they were right-wing, pro-American propaganda figures. We kinda reflect on that with brutal superheroes (more like superanti-heroes!) like ever vigilant Rorschach and the nihilistic Comedian. That scene where The Comedian burns the one-legged Viet Cong soldier alive, shocked the hell out of me! Along with the expose on superheroes, these are some of the other pros of this movie. The visual effects were amazing! I couldn't believe it them! The soundtrack was great! Simon and Garfunkel, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, all awesome! It goes for 3 hours and it doesn't get boring. It has one of the best ending ever where you can't tell who's good or bad.
An intelligent, thoughtful, funny film about men, their friendships , and their priorities in that in between time of life: after school , but before the creation of their new families. One of the best " buddy " films of it's generation. Perhaps the most memorable aspect of this film is simply the relationships between the characters themselves. The actors that pulled off this wonderful feat are at the initial cusp of their careers. However, the array of male talent almost seems a bizarre combination when looked at in present times. This was Mickey Rourke at his alpha male best ...before his "psychosis" set in. This was Kevin Bacon, so good in this film, that it wasn't until afterward that you realized he wasn't a real life functioning alcoholic. This was Steven Guttenberg and Paul Reiser in roles that best featured their comedic/actor talents. Daniel Stern plays a more mature and more intelligent version of the character he played in "Breaking Away." I wish I knew a place like that to eat in...,
This Hitchcock film just wasn't working for me. Many of the scenes were long, drawn out and down right unnecessary at times. Instead of building suspense, it built annoyance. There also seemed to be a lack of real emotion from James Stewart and Doris Day and a lack of realistic motivation in the writing. Their son was kidnapped, but the situation never felt dire. For example, when they meet the Prime Minister at the Albert Hall after he was shot, instead of being in a panic because their son is still missing, they're as calm as can be. Wouldn't you be going crazy? In addition, the final scene was anything but exciting.
In telling a simple adventure story, they cover ground that they had yet to cover before. Both the humor and heartbreak of the film seem completely more mature than any of Pixar's previous works. The film is perfectly paced and structured in a very careful way to allow each moment to have a satisfying and slightly surprising. Pixar continues to amaze not only with their technical bravado, but with their thematic courage. Up is definitely in the uppermost echelon of their work, a hilarious, and in turns heartbreaking, work of great magnitude and power. Visually the film is rich and thrilling and emotionally it is satisfying.
Coraline is a journey of the imagination. With great visuals and highly creative story telling this movie will be sure to be one that has a great following of salivating fans. With an endless number of twists and a story that draws you in, Coraline delivers an exciting three dimensional experience. The film is a masterpiece. The movie is not really one for children. Genius animation and imagination.
Woody did it again. A brilliant movie with stiff characters so familiar and yet so strange. This should be indeed a film to teach upcoming directors and writers. Sparkling dialogues, sarcastic, ironic, real,so real. Enjoyable from the start to the end. Woody shoot us constantly with large doses of outstanding lines which is so hilarious you can't process the next dialogue. Incredibly funny and smart.
To Catch a Thief is a charming movie but quite different to other Hitchcock films. Other Hitchcock films made in the 50s like Vertigo, Dial M For Murder and Rear Window (Grace Kelly being in the last two) have strong story lines, brilliant camera-work and suspense. To Catch a Thief's storyline almost seems a tad weak in comparison to those films, and it does not seem like a thriller, it seems like more along the lines of a romantic-comedy-crime movie. It is also slightly predictable and it wasn't too hard to guess the 'real cat burglar'. Still, it is an entertaining movie and shows Hitchcock's versatility.
This fits right in the middle on a list ranking Woody Allen's movies... it's not that good, but not that bad, either. Of course, Woody Allen fans such as myself will contend that an average or 'mediocre' Allen movie is better than an average or 'mediocre' film that isn't by him; personally, I love his directing style, acting, and scripting... so I have to say that this is worth seeing, even though it doesn't come close to being one of his best movies.
The music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart has never been so powerful. Perfectly cast and backed up with beautiful music words cannot describe how moving and beautiful this piece of art truly is.
The actors cease to be actors, they transform into their characters, and the direction is wonderful. The story is captivating, and the flashback way to do the film adds a wonderful artistic element to it. While the movie may not be historical accurate, 100%, it doesn't hurt it in the slightest bit. It achieves in great lengths in storytelling.
Watching the musical grandeur, and how the classical music can affect us all is amazing. But the movie digs deeper then that, questioning the musical intelligence, relationships with God, feeling inadequate, and people's fear of mediocrity. The movie is not a biography of Mozart.
The words written in the screenplay describing music are amazing.
Twelve O'Clock High is exceptional in every way. It is very similar to the excellent movie Command Decision, but goes deeper into the emotional and psychological cost of commanding the bombing campaign against Nazi Germany. Whereas Gable is all alone and hated in Command Decision, Peck goes a step further and actually goes on bombing runs with his men--only to become deeply scarred emotionally in the process. As a result, this movie is a fantastic look at the psychological effects of war--something that only rarely gets addressed in war movies.
Splendid double character study of commanders at war, superbly played by two consummate actors, supported by an able cast, utilizing an intelligent script by Wendell Mayes; spare, men only direction by the gifted Dick Powell; and beautifully filmed at sea by a crackerjack crew. Not a slow or dull moment in its 98 minutes, a textbook example of how such things should be done, but seldom are. Mitchum and Jergens give career perfs, the ending is magnificent, the closing line a proper epilogue.
Just like his Westerns and Spagetti Western's Dirty Harry is one of his classic movies, Dirty Harry has witty dialogue, a cool catchphrase, the most powerful handgun in the world and a interesting plot. The acting is great, Clint Eastwood's performance has Dirty Harry is fantastic, he's performance inspired many other tough cops like John McClane in Die Hard and Martin Riggs in Lethal Weapon, Andrew Robinson is great as the Scorpio Killer, he makes the character look so normal yet he's so insane especially on the school bus. Dirty Harry has a classic 70's music score that goes with the pace, the sound effect for Harry's gun is cool and makes it sound like the most powerful handgun in the world.
"Amelie" is like a colorful modern time fairy tale about a innocent and naive girl who has some very weird hobbies, falling in love with some other guy that has some weird hobbies himself. As a matter of fact just about every character in this film is pretty odd, like some cartoon characters although the film itself is very colorful. One day Amelie finds a box with some old guys childhood belonging in it and decides to return it to him and if he is grateful, she would help others as well. And during her journey of trying to help others, she falls for a guy who has hobbies of collecting other peoples photos in photo booths that has been tossed away. This is a colorful, bright, funny and delightful romantic film that kids can enjoy it as well despite 2 very short nude scenes that can be fast forward. It was a magical experience that leaves the audience feel lighter, even if Amelie may seem like a bit of a stalker but that is forgotten cause of the film's charm and since the lead actress doesn't appear to be a psycho. I also enjoyed the film's cinematography very much, more than the typical Hollywood style. It maybe a bit overrated but isn't bad as some claim it to be, I think the people that do bash on this film, bash it for being too positive.
This is a movie of epic proportions. Like the whole world goes down. Overall it was an okay/average movie. First thing is that it wasn't a great movie, but it certainly wasn't bad like a lot of people said it was. Obviously, the first positive of this film was the special effects it had. The CG was amazing, like the best I've ever seen. Everything was so massive, it's actually quite scary to think about it, how they created and destroyed the earth so realistically. Los Angeles was ruined so amazingly, it just stuns you. The acting and character development wasn't that good. The movie was very emotional since of course this movie is about the apocalypse, but the main characters themselves didn't show too much emotion. At least not as much as expected. Storyline wasn't too original and was seen before, but the super cheesy dialogue actually fit in very well with the scenes. For those people who rated it under a 4 or something because of character development, one bad aspect doesn't bring down an entire movie, and if you rated it because of that, it's probably just a rant.
