King Kong (1933) 1. King Kong (1933) Unrated 5.0 Stars
One of the true standing works of filmic art that was both innovative and unique for its time paving the way for further development in the industry. It is full of classical charm and wonderful effect techniques that help bring the films soul more out into the open. One can hopefully look back to the time it was made and if you can (quite easily) then this should be an excellent watch for those of all ages and is a must see for any movie enthusiast!
Downfall (Der Untergang) 2. Downfall (Der Untergang) R 5.0 Stars
As a lengthy historical drama, Downfall holds ground and looks deeper into the dark side of history. The diologue is original, keeping in line with proper dutch vocals and style and its questionable moral values of each character. Plus even if you know your history, you'll still enjoy the slow tense build up dispite the knowledge of how it ends (this works both as a film itself also) not to mention willpower that can be brought into modern day into understanding further the old question of the Nazis...why?
Apocalypse Now 3. Apocalypse Now R 5.0 Stars
(While not going into an excesive review *cough*) A more dark, twisted YET realistic portrayal of the Vietnam War that successfully highlights the mental impact of such warfare and how it can take it toll on anyone, with an ending that can best be described as "anti-hero". The cast gives their best and keeps a great sureal atmosphere through out.
A Clockwork Orange 4. A Clockwork Orange R 5.0 Stars
Stanley Kubrick's immoral spin on societies troublsome youth with dark overtones and pitch black comic style in both performance and moral message. Its backwards and surreal take on social problems can both entertain but disturb the audience, raising further questions of it all.
Fight Club 5. Fight Club R 5.0 Stars
Well, if you think this film sounds basic then you'll be in for a supprise, looking at both underground and criminal culture thats both amusing and overlly crude in its rather surreal sense of style. Even Brad Pitt comes off as "non pop culture".
The Godfather 6. The Godfather R 5.0 Stars
A rather hard to describe masterpiece. Its lengthy and engaging story appears to captivate the whole concept and crude style of old fashion organised crime with memerable scenes and light heartedness.
