Blindness
I don't remember the last time I was so moved by a film.

One man develops white blindness and it spreads. Julianne Moore was apparently immune. The affected get isolated in an old abandoned building and get boxes of food thrown to them here and there.

3 wards. One becomes domineering and nasty. They come to find later that the whole world ended up infected.

I can't say enough about this movie. Stellar performance by Moore and Mark Ruffalo has come a long way since Just Like Heaven.

It was so raw and emotional and so humanly primative.

Bravo.

Låt den Rätte Komma In (Let the Right One in) (2008,  R)
Låt den Rätte Komma In (Let the Right One in)
Child vampires are not the norm in cinema. There's something about exploiting the innocence of a child that makes them particularly chilling as vampires.

This film is not for the brainless who want constant action. This film is very slow with many subtleties. The subtle homoerotic undertones are not something that everyone will catch. I have been informed that in the book, the homoerotic aspect is very obvious and a large part of the story.

Eli is in fact not female. This is clued into about 3 times in the film.

This film is thought provoking and gruesome at times. Probably the only well done horror of 2008. Us fails. The Swedes owned horror.

Bella Mafia (1997,  R)
Bella Mafia
I LOVE this movie. Was recommended to me by someone at a camp I went to. It's originally a TV movie and then went to video.

It's a moving and beautiful story. I'm so glad it's finally on the Flix database.

The movie has two storylines that eventually merge. In the main one Sophia marries into a mafia family and it becomes one heartbreak after the other.

The end of the movie is such a powerful moment, especially for Sofia.

Alluring and dark in all the good ways. Nancy (Fairuza Balk) is one of the best psycho characters I have seen.

As I will it...so shall it be.

In Bruges
I think this is now my favourite Colin Farrell role. The dialogue was hilarious and the premise was original and entertaining.

His Golden Globe was certainly well deserved.

What are they doing over there? They're filming something. They're filming midgets!

I mean basically if you're robbing a man and you're only carrying blanks and you allow your gun to be taken off you and you allow yourself to be shot in the eye with a blank which I assume that the person has to get quite close to you then, yeah really it's all your fault for being such a poof, so why don't you stop wingeing and cheer the fuck up.

Brilliant film :D
