| (500) Days of Summer - PG-13 | An emotionally rich, perfectly acted boy-meet-girl story. A great script and wonderful, sometimes frustratingly imperfect characters gives this movie a heart and soul. No, this is not a hysterical romcom, but there are enough sweet moments to make you smile. There are moments that dragged, but you do care about the protagonist and hope he finds 'the one' in the end. | December 8, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Adventureland - R | Less of a gross-out comedy than director Greg Motolla's last flick Superbad, Adventureland is sweeter, more thoughtful, and romantic. Which basically means it's less funny. I like Kristen Stewart although I haven't seen a varied range of acting on her part in any of her movies, and Jesse Eisenberg is very likable and less off-puttish than Michael Cera's take would be. | December 7, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Zoolander - PG-13 | Take it for what it is. This is a fun movie that's spawned a lot of pop culture references. And having finally seen it, I will get it whenever somebody does a Zoolander face! | December 6, 2009 | N/A | |||

| Whip It - PG-13 |
This is a charming movie directed by multi-talented Drew Barrymore. The cliches just builds up in every scene, from the food-fight to the pool-sex. But the terrific cast bring great warmth and humor to their characters that, and at the end of the day, that's how you in a story...by caring for the characters. Kudos to Ellen Page for not once again playing a quick-witted teen, but rather a pretty normal girl, and making her character not boring. Love Kristen Wiig as the motherly type, and Marcia Gay Harden for some terrific mother-daughter arguments. These women simply rock! |

| Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - PG |
A step above Yates's first directorial effort of this franchise. Dark and sad at the right moments, but light-hearted teenage love fun at its core. What I'm still having trouble grasping is why the director chooses to show characters onscreen (characters that are significant in the book), but never let them do anything cool. All the wolf villain did was look menacing. Still, an overall worthy addition to the Potter franchise. |

| Up - PG | Another excellent outting by the master production team of Pixar. Such poignancy has rarely been explored in an animated story, but the laughs are aplenty w/ dogs that can talk, two grumpy old men, and a boy who thinks a snipe has long furry tails, kinda like a squirrel. | December 2, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Family Guy - Blue Harvest - Unrated | Pretty lame and boring. Not very good at all. | December 2, 2009 | N/A | |||
