Another great British film which focuses on the character development as well as the plot and script. Horrocks is superb in both guises of her character. She plays the shy, selective mute with such care and the singing is spot on. She honestly sounds like the people she is impersonating. Blethyn shows off her talents too as the overbearing mother and by the end you really begin to hate her. Caine and Broadbent add well to the proceedings.

Without doubt the weirdest and most surreal film I have ever seen. You really have to watch closely to even try to follow what is going on in this film, then even the ending leaves you hanging. It's difficult to understand but the acting is excellent.

Without doubt the best comedy film ever! Don't be put off by the fact that this film is in black and white! With a slick screenplay, hot actors and even hotter music the film makes sizzling viewing to any film lover.

Such a beautiful film with great acting from all the cast! A must see for all film lovers!
