Terminator Salvation - PG-13 A little disappointed with the acting job by Christian Bale, who is a good actor, but who seems to be stuck in the Batman-mode, it was a miscast he was cold and distant with the rasp voice of Batman. Australian actor Sam Wortington was one of the best thing to happen in this film, Director McG ( Joseph McGinty Nichol ) did a incredable job with ( CGI ) fantastic action, cool visuals and camera angles, small cameo parts by Jane Alexander, Helen Bonham Carter and Michael Ironside were all good choices. This film is a summer action flick, not for the die-hard connoisseur's of T-2 & T-3 December 26, 2009

The Day the Earth Stood Still - PG-13 KLAATU - BARADA - NIKTO " INCREDIBLY AWFUL, THIS ( 1951 ) REMAKE OF D.T.E.S.S. A CULT CLASSIC SCI-FI FILM THAT WAS QUIET, CREEPY AND MENACING, THE 12-12-08 D.T.E.S.S. REMAKE MADE NO SENSE, IN TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH THE ORIGINIAL, UNIMAGINATIVE AND TEDIOUS AND LET'S NOT FORGET THE STUPID SUBPLOT, KEANU REEVES, JENNIFER CONNALY WITH A PHONE IN AND CASH A CHECK PERFORMANCE AND WHAT'S WITH JOHN CLEESE AS DR. BARNHARDT ( MONTY PYTHON FAME ) HE'S NO SAM JAFFE, I WAS VERY DISGRUNTLED BY " GORT' " WHO WAS SO RELEVANT IN THE ORIGINAL IS RELEGATED TO A VERY MINOR SUPPORTING ROLE. I ALSO FOUND THE OBVIOUS PRODUCT PLACEMENT ( BUICK, MICOSOFT AND McDONALD'S ) NOTE: THE DINNER SCENE WITH JAMES HONG TO BE CRASS AND ANNOYING. THE BEST NEWS ABOUT THE NEW D.T.E.S.S.IS THAT IT WILL QUICKLY FADE INTO OBSCURITY, WHILE THE TIMELESS CLASSIC ORIGINAL LIVES ON. November 23, 2009

Lakeview Terrace - PG-13 Lakeview Terrace is a average Movie with a performance by Samual L. Jackson who made the entire film, Jackson steals each scene with his raw emotion, rage (full pulp fiction fervor) as Abel Turner, 28 year veteran L.A.P.D. Police Officer, the neighbor from Hell, its worth watching alone. I liked the beginning and the first half of the Movie it was building up and I had great expectations and then the cliche's started pouring in one after the another, the least of which is the classic " accident-that-changed -my-life-and turned-me-into- a nut case. The final scenes are so anticlimactic and predictable straight-out of " Training Day " it was annoying and pathetic at best. All in all as I stated, average film except for Samuel L. Jackson's brilliant performance, and yes there is a color issue here and it's " blue ". August 22, 2009

Babylon A.D. - PG-13 Quoting from the very beginning of the film " I learned somthing that day " that is .... don't see this movie it's tedious, boring with confusing ooky genre, its gibberish and should be avoided at all costs.
This film, based on Maurice G, Dantec's lengthy sci-fi novel Babylon Babies, with a French author who barrows allot from " Children of Men " a 2006 film based on a furturist post-apocalyptic Eastern Europe and then using a French Director Mathieu Kassovitz who had this film watered down to pure mindless violence and stupidity, what was 20th Century Fox thinking. I found the story fragmented and poorly edited, I couldn't keep my eyes open ZZZZZZZZ, looks to me that 20th Century was in a rush to get this Turkey out ASAP so they could collect all those obvious/lame Corporate logo's like Coca -Cola. The most disappointing to me was that one of my favorite anti-establishment, multi-ethnic action heroes Vin Diesel ( born Mark Vicent NYC ) I was hoping for that " Pitch Black ", " Boiler Room ", Riddick charisma ... wasn't there. At 43, I hope this doesn't mark the downward spiral of this working man's movie hero, with a lackluster performance mostly in the fight scenes, posing allot, plenty of close-ups and very quick edits, this enables stars like Vin at 43 who can't fight look experienced. " But " not so for Michelle Yeoh Character (Sister Rebekah ) who was a star pupil of Jackie Chan, Yeoh's elbows and kicks her way through her action segments with skill, she makes Vin and the others look silly. Obviously a great deal has been cut from the final version of this film, take the very corny ending no logiic comes out of no where.... what's the actual resolution to this fiaso? ....... pure gibberish!
In conclusion, being a optimist that I am, I look forward to 2010 and better projects for Vin Diesel, he has on the burner " The Wheelman " and Triple X: The Return of Xander Cage. Best of Luck! ...... Vin

Miracle at St. Anna - R I was really looking forward to seeing this Movie. That feeling lasted about thirty to forty minutes into this movie. The Movie had a promising begining with John Turturro portraying a interesting part as Det. First Class Tony Ricci, and then we flash back to WW I I - Italy with endless, unbearable Italian actors overacting shamelessly with sub-titles. This is a story worth telling. " But " in telling, Spike Lee has squandered a wonderful opportunity to tell the story of the brave Buffalo Soldiers by using gratuitous violence and out of place sex. Was this Spike's attempt to make a war movie that didn't live up to " Saving Private Ryan ". Incredibly disappointing ZZZZZZZZ - it's been a long time since " Do the right Thing " and " The Inside Man " ..... Thanks! Spike .. you riped me off! July 14, 2009

Spartan - R I'm not a fan of U.S. Government conspiracy genres, but this approach on the world of shadow politics dialogue by playwright turned Filmmaker / Director David Mamet was interesting (if a bit implausible) about a hardened Marine who is a respected veteran special ops agent Robert Scott (Val Kilmer) when Scott is recruited to find Laura Newton (Kristen Bell) the Presidents Colege-age-Daughter,he is paired with overzelous rookie partner "Curtis" (Derek Luke) as the story unfolds the straightforward search-and-rescue mission becomes a complex web of deceit, betrayal by the highest levels of the U.S. Government, played by Ed O'Neill (Burch) William H. Macy (Stoddard) I found all the supporting cast to be convincing and there roles well played like Tia Texeda (Sgt. Jacie Black), Alexandra Kerry (Bartender) and Said Taghmacui (Tariq Asani)
Trivia - The part of "Parker" was played by David Mamet's half bother.

No Country for Old Men - R Filmmakers Joel & Ethan Coen deliver their most gripping and ambitious film since "Fargo" this action thriller by auther Cormac McCarthy about a drug deal gone bad in the back hills of West Texas and the chain events that occur. Award winning performance by Spanish Actor Javier Bardem and breakout part for Josh Brolin and a excellent supporting cast Tommy Lee Jones, Woody Harrelson, and Kelly Macdonald. I have a new respect for compressed air. October 21, 2008

Freebie and the Bean - R This 1974 Dirty Harry era genre, COP Buddy Comedy filmed in San Francisco, with two of my favorite actors James Caan & Alin Arkin who are two dysfunctional S.F.P.D Inspectors who nearly demolish the entire City Of San Francisco along with a clear wanton destruction of City property i.e. classic car pursuit scene that ends up with there Police Car smashing into the side of a third floor Apartment on the Embarcadero Freeway Ramp ( demolished 1990 ) and a can't miss gun scene with Freebie & Bean unloading two Guns a piece at a hitman in a Sunset Ave Bowling Alley Men's Room Stall. With a great supporting cast like Loretta ( T.V.'s M.A.S.H ) Swit, Mike Kellin Paul Koslo, Jack Kruschen and Valerie ( TV's Rhoda ) Harper plus the Title Music of Dominic Frontiere..... if you have lived in the Bay Area... it's a must see. Blood Diamond - R I liked this Movie, but did not think it was a great Movie. A good Movie? " Yes " Director Edward ( " The Last Samurai " ) Zwink story of Diamond Smuggling in the 90's in Africa was a fair portrayal, I was more impressed with Dicaprio's knowledge of Weapons and also with Arnold ( " The Mummy " ) Vosloo speaking Afrikaans-Dutch widely spoken in S. Africa. Standout roll for Djimon ( " Amistad " ) Hounsou ... very gripping, but to be frank.... I saw this plot several years ago! ..... " The Defiant Ones " instead of bloodhounds trailing close, it was Mercenary Troops, all`n`all a must see ...... Bru! February 11, 2008

Shooter - R This Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) Directed Picture, that Critics say, it was just another Mindless Action-Thriller... " Whatever " I say, it hit the Mark ( excuse the Pun ). With a great supporting cast like Danny Glover, Ned Beatty and a cameo part with Levon ( The Band ) Helm, and with Mark Wahlberg destroying Gov. issued Crown Vic's , what more can you ask for. Bullitt - PG This 1968 Peter Yates Directed Police drama boasting a 1969 Oscar for best editing for that tremendous ( Bill Hickman) Car Chase is a Keeper. along with Steve McQueen(anti-establistment Police Lt.) and Trophy Girlfriend Jacqueline Bisset find it rough going in the Bay area. The other actors are themselves a superb supporting cast:old timers like Simon Oakland,Norman Fell,Don Gordon, and lets not forget Robert Vaughn as well newcomers George Sanford Brown and then unknown Robert Duvall, with Steve McQueen doing his own stunt driving its a bit of Movie History and a must Have.
