I feel that the only reason this film is rated so low, is that it is a benchmark of film making, a rite of passage, everyone has seen it , and that is largely due to its success, and ground breaking direction from James Cameron.
A fantastic science fiction film, that spawned a great science fiction franchise. Revolutionary special effects, and above -par acting serve to fuel the ever expanding reputation of this film.
Kubrick's epitaph, not a patch on Lolita but still a great movie, simply because Stanley Kubrick directed it. Oddly enough, Tom Cruise is damn good here, and somehow Kubrick turned a simple story of jealousy into suspense! Well worth watching!
Nicholas Meyer directs THE definitive Star Trek movie, with an engrossing plot, a believable baddie in Khan, and Shatner actually acting? For fans of this movie, only one word is applicable, KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
Fantastic special effects and great characterisation for Bill Nighy, but this film ran on for too long and was not helped by wooden acting at times from Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley.
For the right audience, this is an enjoyable movie. I enjoyed it myself, but I doubt that it has universal appeal. Leo Di Caprio was a mistake casting wise and the role should have gone to the first choice, Tobey Maguire!
The first movie with the Next Generation cast, was not the movie many had hoped for. Shatner's cameo is disappointing, and Kirk's death in the scheme of things was useless.
Woefully underrated, this classic by Spielberg features an aged Maggie Smith, Dustin Hoffmann, Julia Roberts and a cameo by Phil Collins, how can you not fail to love it?
