The Dark Knight The Dark Knight PG-13
This is the movie we've all been waiting for. The most anticipated film of the summer. This far exceeded all of my expectations. I was astounded at so many of the different aspects of this movie. First you have to know that this is a beautiful movie. I really think that it was filmed so perfectly, to show you just how huge everything really is. Then of course you have the score. This as something I was really looking forward to and I was really impressed with it. Zimmer and Howard did a perfect job of changing the themes of Batman Begins ever so slightly to match the tone of this movie and then threw some totally new themes at us that were so passionate and styled perfectly. IT was just incredible. The effects were of course amazing, and the fights have managed to actually get even better. Now I know everyone is all excited about Heath Ledger's Joker, but I really think that with all the hype the character got, the other characters kind of got lost. One of the best in this movie was Aaron Eckhart as District Attorney Harvey Dent. Eckhart played dent in a way that truly showed how he was a good man that became a victim of his work. I honestly think that this role can rival Ledger's joker and should be talked about just as much. I also want to say that Bale did an incredible job of showing the hardships of Bruce's life. We see him struggle to make the right decision when the world as he knows it is crashing down around him. This brings me to the most talked about character of the summer...The Joker. Heath Ledger was not even there. As I watched this I didn't see and actor. I saw the joker, raw and unfeeling. Needless to say Ledger's performance was beyond astounding. He was perfect in this role, bringing new life a depth to a character that has previously been seen as campy and over the top. This joker was a realistic version of what you would see in the comics. He was chaos, pure and simple. I don't even know what else to say. I mean Heath just disappeared into this role and it really shows. This is a masochistic, sadistic, psychopath that kills simply to see what will happen afterwards. Never before has anyone attempted to delve so deep into The Joker's character, which is why this stands out so much amongst the ther roles in this film. I also want to point out that Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine are truly great in this movie. Oldman especially, he really brings that human, down to earth good guy element to this. As for Maggie Gyllenhaal, she brought so much to the role of Rachael Dawes. She was strong and really did a great job. Finally, I want to say that this has to be the best written story I have ever seen in a movie. It was deep, multi-layered, and a little crazy. It was perfect. I don't even know what else to say. This was just an amazing movie.
Underworld Underworld R
I feel bad for never gracing this awesome movie with more than a sentence. After all, a sentence couldn't possibly sum up what I love about this movie. Sure it's not the best movie ever made but I love it so much. It's a great story with great characters and plays out much like a history textbook, but with the added factor of immortal creatures.
