I like to consider this the Goodfellas of the porn industry. Mark Wahlberg's best movie as he really shines in this one (and the prosthetic shlong didn't hurt him none). Paul Thomas Anderson's directing really immerses you in the setting.
This movie would have been great had it not been plagued by a boring second act. Otherwise it's a good movie thanks in part to the great acting of Beatty and Dunaway. It's unfortunate that such a great ending had to be spoiled by a mediocre middle.
I don't know how to rate this movie. Honestly, I was stuck between giving it a .5 and 5! While everything about it might suck and it may be the worst movie ever made, I can't help but love every minute of it. Definitely worth checking out by any movie buff just so they can experience the Ed Wood "legacy".
I consider this movie to be one of my greatest influences when it comes to movies. Everything about this movie doesn't disappoint. Some may think it's slow but I was too busy being memorized by what has happening on screen.
This buddy comedy is a guilty pleasure to almost everyone. Probably the best performance Keanu Reeves has ever done sadly, but I always make sure to watch this one when it's on.
Probably my favorite movie from the Coen Brothers. This comedy introduces us to many memorable characters from the Dude himself to Walter to the Jesus. A movie who's plot gets kicked off by one man's desire to get compensation for his rug never stutters and always continues the laughs.
Stanley Kubrick directs what may be his most underrated movie after Barry Lyndon. A great performance from James Mason as he's seduced by this young girl and begins to twist his life around it. This story about one man's obsession and the struggle from her mother, a writer and just from the unlawfulness of it all, as he ruins his life over one solitary thing. You begin to feel bad for this character who has given up everything he once had all for this girl who is too young to truly understand love.
This creative drama is so heart warming that it deserves to be recognized as one of the better movies of the year. The plot is so inventive and moving as each scene brings a new tall tale that entertains and delights.
A great character study that really pushed the envelope. Dustin Hoffman's portrayal as the tragic Rizzo is heartbreaking as is the final scene. Jon Voight doesn't fail to impress either. Combined, their relationship makes this movie a genuine classic.
I love this movie. Simple enough to be so heartwarming and memorable but at the same time so much is in this. Hoffman is great as usual as is Anne Bancroft. Mike Nichol shoots each scene beautifully and the Simon and Garfunkel soundtrack adds a nice touch. The iconic image of Mrs. Robinson's legs completely capture the awkwardness of the original seduction and the modern fairy tale ending that makes me smile every time I see the movie and every time I see it parodied, most notably in Wayne's World 2.
Excellent dialouge and excellent acting by everyone involved. Very quickly this movie shits from a black comedy to a suspense thriller. John Goodman really impressed me with this.
