Mitchum's performance was pretty good, but ... meh. I'm sure this was much better in 1955.

I found Gomorrah a little boring, personally, but I understood why it was this way. It was a very unromanticised, blunt portrayal of crime that did nothing to add the lights and glitter that we usually see in Western cinema. For that much, I'm rather thankful for this movie.

A social commentary worth listening to. Grotesque and gory, with great special effects for the pre-CGI era of horror filmmaking.

One of the top 10 films ever made.
