About Me
Where should I start? (pondering my empty mind) I like to hang out with my friends, drink, and party on my free time. I enjoy traveling, sports, movies, music, and the out doors. I'm a full time student. My major is Computer Programming and my minor is Computer Networking. (Yes, that means I'm a smart ass.) lol I also hope to get into physical education. But first, in a couple of years I plan to join the airforce to become a pilot. I really look forward to doing that. Hopefully I'll be able to travel the world. Well I don't know what else to put. If you was like to know more just ask. I don't bite. (Only if you want me to)lol jk

I truly enjoyed this film and there are some entertainingly funny moments, some emotional moments ( not as many as i thought there would be, but more than enough for my wife) and a truly wonderful story about love and loss and basically life sadly goes on with his help with letters after Gerard Butler's death.
I think Gerard Butler is impressive in this film esp after his male bravado in 300, definitely think he was the perfect person for the role. I also enjoyed the supporting cast, but for some reason I wasnt truly convinced about Swank. But hey thats just me. Still if you enjoy a good laugh n cry than you will enjoy this ( i didn't find myself crying but my wife did whereas i did with 'The Notebook',' Beaches' or an olden goldie like 'The Ghost & Mrs Muir', my favourite love story - similar in some ways this film).

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
    2.0 Stars by Brock
Sadly i had high expectations for this film and were let down immensley. First thing i will say is that Affleck & Pitt are wonderful actors but this film was such a drawn out yawn.

Here is a film that is well over 2hrs long and they leave out important parts to the mindset of Ford ( he was arrested for killing Jesse's cousin, didn't stroll into a police station and was told he would be pardoned if he killed Jesse James. After killing James he was arrested before being pardoned. Now the last part of all that sounds like a more interesting story than the time spent from moving house to house in the first hour of this damn film. Think I need to go back and watch the Life of Jesse James and not the hero worshiping turn coward of Fords life as if this was it was incredibly dull and uninteresting. At least Jesse fires he gun more than once!!!!!
Hey, you should really see this if u want to lose 2hrs 40mins of your life!!!! Sure a few of my flixster friends will crucify me for a bad rating but 2 stars is much as i can give it!!!! It was incredibly long, boring, dull and found myself nodding of! Thank god i never went to the cinemas to see this. 2 stars is for Pitt & Affleck, who shined in this film and was nearly wondering if the assasination may have turned into my suicide!!!!!

The Bucket List The Bucket List
    4.5 Stars by Brock
This film is about finding the Joy of Life, some people search their whole lives and never find it. Here two guys both find out they are terminally ill & Freeman who was writing a Bucket list (things to do before you die), throws it away once hearing the terrible news. Nicholson who happens to be sharing the ward, also happens to be a billionaire (lucky i know), finds the list and convinces him to do it. What i like about the film besides being touching is that the list evolves as they experience good and bad moments and really no matter how many things are on the list it comes back to simply finding the joy in their life! No prizes for picking the result.

So if you enjoy heart felt films and want to see two of the best actors in the business, you could do a lot worse than this film.

Lars and the Real Girl Lars and the Real Girl
    4.5 Stars by Brock
What an incredibly quirky, thought provoking intelligent & funny film. I guess what i loved about this film was the way a whole community came together in this film and the humanising effect when helping Lars who has really digressed from the real world and found comfort with his 'real girl'. I continously found myself intrigued with the social situations that arose and how Lars story unfolded. Absolutely stellar cast with of course Gosling shining. I Highly recommend this film and possibly think how maybe a Bianca would help some of the people around us!!!!! I also kept thinking what would have happened if Wild Phillie had turned up the following week!!!!!!

    Kenny Kenny
    4.0 Stars by Brock
Lighthearted, hilarious mocumentary about Kenny who delivers portaloos for a living. Doesn't sound flash, but this is truly an Australian film, and sort of sense of humour maybe outside Aus, people may not get esp US, but if you do, enjoy and just remember that all Australians aren't like this, but this sort of character here in Aus is truly loved. Hes raw, hes honest and thats rare quality these days and one i think the Americans will love!!!
Hey, you should really see this! Apparently it getting its US release around the time of Hellboy 2 (August is that a big time release in US???) If you want something thats a little different, particulary Aussie (I hear there subtitling some of it for the US theatres - Aussie lingo can be a little ambigious at times!!!)

    Pieces Pieces
    5.0 Stars by Amanda
This unintentionally-hilarious nugget of badly-dubbed exploitation serves the best opening scene I've ever witnessed for explaining why kids grow up to become heavy-breathing, fedora-and-trenchcoat-wearing, chainsaw-wielding psychos. Child abuse, you immediately ask? Nah, that's so American. This 8-year old Spaniard falls off his rocker when Mommy discovers his stash of porn mags hidden inside his toybox and burns them...right in front of him! (I are not making this up.) In a sweat-inducing situation like that, how would you react? Well, this young 'un serves cold justice by sticking an axe in her head because...that's what sexually-repressed 8 year-old Eurotrash do. And away we go, kiddies. Flashforward to 1983 and a typical college campus where someone's chain-sawing the curvy co-eds, taking certain pieces and leaving the rest for the cops to trip over. Yes, Pieces definitively proves no amount of artsy mise-en-scene can overshadow the adrenaline rush of a good chainsaw killing. It's got tons of nudity, very graphic violence and gore. And best of all, absolutely no socially redeeming value whatsoever. Be forewarned, this movie also has the most deranged use of the word bastard in film history as undercover cop (and tennis champ!) Linda Day-George pulls out ALL her acting skills and screams the word 4 times in frustration because she was too busy turning down loud music to hear the nut-bag carving a victim in the very next room! Oh, and I loved the scene where the killer follows a half-naked coed onto an elevator while hiding a two-foot, 60-pound chainsaw...behind his back. And the scene involving a skateboarding disco bunny. And the gratuitous disco aerobics workout. And the school's crazy Kung-Fu instructor who kicks the gun from Linda's hand, knocks her to the ground, and then admits he had no reason for attacking her except...he ate some bad Chop Suey. (Again, I am not making this up, really.) Boys and Girls, ask anyone, you cannot put a price tag on this kind of entertainment. As the film's tagline once screamed, `You Don't Have To Go To Texas For A Chainsaw Massacre! It's Exactly What You Think!' Director Juan Piquer Simon, I ask you, `Where is your Thalberg Award?!'

The Great Debaters The Great Debaters
    5.0 Stars by Brock
What an incredible film based on a true story of a black debate team from Wiley College, Marshall Texas that debate Harvard (in real life it was USC) during the 30s. Directed and starring the great man himself Denzel Washington, Forest Whitaker and a superb cast. Of course the two big names are brilliant in this film but the real stars are the debate team, Nate Parker (reminded me of a young Denzel when he starred in the film Glory - he has the same fire and the spark to be a future superstar), Jurnee Smollett ( another rising star) and a young Denzel Whitaker (no relation to Forest), who steals the show. Such an incredible story and really an important part of the Civil Rights movement (character young Whitaker played went onto to be apart of the Big 6 that help reform Civil Rights in the US during the 50s & 60s).

One of the best films in 2008 so far for me. Highly recommend this film to all.

Lions for Lambs Lions for Lambs
    3.5 Stars by Brock
I would say that this film is about asking questions, debate, democracy and all the things that make us / countries what we are today. I certainly feel that this film asks these questions and not necessarily provide any answers. But thats what I think Redford sets out to do and they way he brings this story to the screen. If you enjoy a film about political and social debate then you will enjoy this film. After all Cruise, Streep and Redford do there thing as usual. Solid performances and do enjoy the more serious side of Cruise in films.

I guess what i got from this film is with debate theres a lot of talk, whether thru censored media, govt rhetoric and / or uninformed people sprouting so called truths etc ( guess thats cynicism ). So us as individuals have so much to filter thru to make the right decisions, which doesn't come easy. So I am not sure if Redford's point is that we are losing that battle or its time to stand up and believe in something. I certainly hope the latter. Enough ramblings from me, you decide if this film is worthy of your attention. I felt it had some impact on myself.

OMG - How does a film like this get released. So many great actors and none could save this film from the wrecking ball! Not sure whats more annoying the terrible acting, the script or the music that accompanies this flick. Thankgod i never dished out a dime. This would be the worst film i have watched for 2008 and possibly 2007!

Kevin Bacon goes ballistic in this film!! Every parents worse nightmare comes true when his son is struck down in a gangland killing in front of his own eyes. Typical revenge type killing film but the transformation from executive to killing machine is a little to much for me to buy into, but i will give Bacon his kudos cause hes such a brilliant actor and can easily play both roles but in one film its a little over the top. Still don't let that get in the road of a pretty good film with a lot of violence towards the end - which i like!!!
Hey, you should really see this for Kevin Bacon alone - hes such a good actor in my book!

Funny stuff, lots of familiar faces in this one and the comedy is hilariously outrageous and over the top (like Knocked Up and Superbad) which is still fresh for now...but running out of steam fast. Writers better start switching it up soon.

I guess the best thing about this film is its concept, using the web to deliver death by the number of users entering the website. Theres nothing to unpredictable here or major twists etc once you get past the concept for an FBI cyber killer, but its still worth a watch on DVD, nothing more. So in saying all that with such a good concept its a little disappointing.
Hey, you should really see this if you got nothing better to do on a Saturday night!
