Kevin Spacey: "Shut up, listen, and learn. You have no brain. No judgement calls are necessary. What you think means nothing. What you feel means nothing."
Hehehe! Love this one! Perhaps a good video to give a new graduate, or to someone who had just started working, it would be very pretty with a note that says: WELCOME TO THE WORLD! :P
One of my very top favorite movies from highschool! Its so hard to find a DVD of this.
Movie Quotes: "You can't sing show tunes and be depressed!"
Zeke: This is my brother's Ritalin. Ritalin's good for studying math or science, just don't try to write English papers on it or it won't make any sense. Enjoy that!
Close to perfect, a rendition of the book of Esther. If I didnt know the story in the book I would have rated this 5 stars.
its not a bad rendition, I just didnt give it 5 stars cuz I think they missed to "portray" a few things about Esther. Still, yknow. Its a good movie :) Maybe guys would see this as " a girly/religious movie --- and we all know how overly religious, religious movies go", I would beg to differ, this has zest. Sajbel did a great job in directing this.
Re-rated: They shouldnt have used William Shakespeares name on the US title if they altered the story, even if it was just a minor adjustment. Im not quite sure how to rate this really, this is my most favorite play from Shakespeare, and Im not sure if its cuz I know the characters from front to back with my eyes closed or if its the overall production (very untraditional) thats gotten me all unhinged with this version...
Clearly, I love the story, but my quandry is with some of the major cast members and their acting of the characters theyve played. This film showed a lot of each of the actors ability (at that time) to capture a role and portray them well.
- Although Stanley Tucci acted puck pretty well, I cant wrap my head that he looks older than Oberon. - Rupert Everett sort of played a pretty shoddy role of Oberon. - Wasnt contented with Anna Friels acting as Hermia.. I wonder if she actually knew her role? - Dominic West - Couldve done a better job playing Lysander..
Good Points: Kevin Kline did a particularly awesome job with Bottom, and Pfeiffer understood who Titana really is and portayed the role really, really well. Flockhart proved that she can really act, did a great job in playing Helena! Sam Rockwell - I am most impressed with his acting, he gave us a glance that he can deliver different emotions ferverently, I feel that he is quite underrated by most, I love this guy!
The film gets a good bump up from a 3 star rating due to the ending. But Halmark, this couldve been better.
"We have only one thing to give up. Our dominion. We don't own the world. We're not kings yet. Not gods. Can we give that up? Too precious, all that control? Too tempting, being a god?"
Dr Ethan Powell (played by Anthony Hopkins) is a very bright anthropologist who went missing in the jungles of Africa, he was recently found but has gone vicious and temporarily insane. Now he faces a death sentence for several murders, and is being called "Ape Man" by the inmates.
I think this is a once in a lifetime pairing, having Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding Jr playing major roles in the same film, Donald Sutherland was just an added treat really. Extremely superb solid acting, the story and dialogues has something deep to offer its viewers, and for me thats always something that Im more than happy to watch and listen to every now and then.

"That's not possible. I was standing right there. I saw what happened. We all saw what happened..."
Heres a movie thatll grab you and get you stuck on your seat from start to finish! The first time I saw this movie, I was absolutely psyched out! It reminded me of 2 of my all time favorite books (*Book titles intetionally withheld for the review.)
Although the plot story might be somewhat familiar, it still holds something that it can call its own. Borrowing 2 different concepts from separate genres and intertwining them together didnt mess up this movie at all, infact, the it resulted into a interesting story with more than a handful plot twists that are just... to die for, hehehe!
Overall, I do think that the blending and execution of the story was well made, the casting, acting and script were fitting. This was a gorgeous mind-ckuf movie. Worthy of seeing again, and again, and again! --- Well, unless youre one of those people who seem to be contented to "know it all" already yet totally missing out on why it was done such and such.. Dont be too cocky, you mightve missed out something.
Easter Egg: If you get the main characters history, (or if you ever paid any attention to it) yould actually see something interesting when you finish this movie. Otherwise, yould think differently.
Directed by: James Mangold Genres: Horror, Mystery & Suspense
"I got it! You daughter's not your daughter, and the cash that used to be the jewels is now your underwear!"
- Connie (Chazz Palminteri)
This is one of circa 90s highly underrated comedy films. An american remake of the original 1967 french movie.
A day of a life of an "ex" mobster boss. New York City - 1930s. Angelo "Snaps" Provolone promises that he would do anything to make his father "die a happy man". --- On the day that Snaps goes legit, the cops are alerted that something big is going on.
Snaps, who is "no longer Snaps" learns that his accountant is stealing from him, his daughter is not his daughter, his housemaid is leaving, and everything else seems to have gone crazy on his very first day as a legit Banker!
"Let's get started, I got until noon to look like a banker."
I consider Oscar to be one of Sylvester Stallone's best comedy acts in his entire movie career. This is also the movie where I first laid my eyes on Marissa Tomei, she really caught my attention in this movie with her portrayal of Lisa Provolone, her "brattiness and flirtyness" was just something I really liked as a kid. I've been a Marrisa Tomei fan ever since I saw her in this flick. Chazz Palmineri is just an added treat in this movie. Its always fun to watch him play a gangster anyway.
Stylish, smart, clean and witty! I most espcially loved the constant play of words used in this movie. Its amazing for an old film to have such a timeless effect, the characters and jokes in this movie never fails to make me laugh!
Movie Quotes: "I give to you, the seeker of serenity, the protector of Italian virginity, the enforcer of our Lord God, the one, the only, Sir Ulllrrrich von Lichtenstein!"
"My Lord, the Count Adehmar, Son of Phillip DeVitry, son of Gilles... er... Master of the Free Companies, defender of his enormous manhood, a shining example of chivalry and champagne."
"You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting. In what world could you possibly beat me? "
Hehe, after all these years, this movie still cracks me up. Slightly 'Shakespear-esque', modern day rock n roll, cool soundtrack, good acting, story and script. Filled with quirky characters and witty lines, I thought it was quite a riot! There was 1 thing I couldnt really take about this movie though.. and Ill leave it with this quote.
"There she is, William. The embodiment of love. Your Venus!" "And ooh how I hate her...."
Quoted: The new "Thomas Crown" is a flighty affair, but it's colorfully acted and tautly directed by John McTiernan, who makes it look almost as handsome as the paintings that decorate the backgrounds. The season isn't likely to bring a better Bondian entertainment.
Although this movie won oscars, I think this didnt portray Mozart and his bipolar side all that well, okay so the movie was made from another persons point of view, and at that time they didnt really know what bp was. This movie was taken from the point of view of person who was envious of Mozart, he wished he had "the gift" instead.
I give this a rating of lower than 4 because the story doesnt really pick up until after a good 2/3rds of the movie.
Although it sent me chills on my spine on how they portrayed Mozart when he composed his music, I know Ill never hear his compositions quite the same as before, because Ill be thinking that he was in a manic state when he composed them. What madness, what euphoric state of bliss he couldve been in, and people only really like it for its upbeat, unique style and how cheery it is to the ears.
One thing about this movie though, I have a more profound respect and appreciation for the works and the life of the celebrated mad genious that is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Hats off and a low bow to you my dear monsieur.
Why Im recommending this movie, is mainly cuz I want to know if you folks think it to be a gift, or a curse.
Well, I just saw it again. When I was little I watched this with my dad, it was so awesome back then, but watching this now made me re-rate it lower than 4. Most of the music used in the movie was pants, and aww poo I completely forgot that Sean Connery dies on this. I remember when I first watched this that my dad was explaining things to me about Sean Connery's character. I always thought that guy in white looked somewhat like David Bowie. (anyway he was cute :P) I cant believe this is a classic now. Well, this is still staying in my favorites. And besides, it has 'sentimental value" to me. But... Goodness.. Has it really been that long already??
"I've seen strange things happen in the strait, but I know something else, if the sea gives you an opportunity, you take it. These Italian liners, ya know, they couldn't compete for speed, so they built these floating art palaces instead."
Captain Murphy (Gabriel Byrne) and his crew of sea salvagers seems to have struck gold when they discover that the ship Hugh Ferriman (an airforce pilot who 'spotted' the ship, played by Desmond Harrington) was pertaining to was the one and only Antonia Graza, an Italian Luxury Ocean Liner that was believed to be lost to the sea since May 1962.
Maureen thinks shes starting to loose her mind, as she thought she saw a kid aboard the Graza, and is consoled by Ferriman that she just needs some rest for the night. The salvagers had been planning on how to bring the boat to port until they started having problems with their own vessel, the Tugboat Warrior. .
What happens next is a series of alternating luck and mishap, as the crew goes deeper into the bowels of the Antonio Graza, it slowly reveals its secrets to its new guests.
------------------------------------------- No matter how many times I watch this I still cant get my eyes off the screen! I just love everything about it! The cast, the story, the plot, the acting, the soundtrack, everything! MWAH! ------------------------------------------- Genre: Adventure , Horror, Mystery, Thriller
Just watched it again, after 14 years, back then I never really appreciated this cuz I was a bit too young to understand the story, but damn this move rocked! I dont want to spoil anything for those who havent watched this, but for some odd reason, watching this again (2008) reminded me of a lot of things...
I wonder if The Hardy Boys (WWE) got theirr signature move (the Swanton Bomb) and their getup from this movie. Hmmnn...
Damn this movie had it all, action, cheezy, heroics, vengeance, the damned heartbroken lover, fantasy, and even watching the stupid characters didnt give me a headache.
Im not going to rate this and compare it to todays generation of filmmaking cuz that would be unfair, so Im gonna rate this according to how films were made back then.
This one was rockin awesome! The soundtrack was cool as hell too, ((STP, NIN, RATM, J&MC, The Cure)) This ones a gold classic!!
This movie captures my heart. Anyway, besides me, I think Julia Roberts played it all so well, even though Malkovich stole the spotlight all throughout the movie, I have to say this has to be one of the most best played roles Roberts has done in her career (despite what the critiques say!). In addition, Glen Close, as always, plays a perfectly wonderful, hard and wreched woman.
Somewhat weak but better than the 3rd, a different twist to the series, still I sorta enjoyed this, maybe because I was laughing at parts of the movie. WTF@ the last scene?! LOL! Aaaaaaaww! hehe!
Wether the film (or the comic from which it was taken from) was acurate or inacurate about the history, I could hardly care.
Its a film that came from a comic book ffs, maybe people should rate it like that, how good of a movie it is and how close it is from the comic and not from the history books. Duh! Loosen up stiffs.
The movie ended with me wanting to see more of it, so it really captured my taste. How so? The visuals were way awesome, and the fight scenes was just the right kind of action that suited my hankering for blood and gore. The cinematography is breathtakingly beautiful, what a great masterpiece! The visuals and soundtrack music used was sewn so carefully and neatly along with the powerful delivery of such dramatic and oh so catchy lines, the actors were just as spectatular and brilliant as the CGI.
This was awesome to the awesomeness of the most awesome degree! MWAH! FABULOSO! MAGNIFICO!
*Insert: Eeeeee! David Wenham!! ^_^ !!! I love him! lol!
The Devils Rejects - More action than horror, nonetheless very entertaining. This is a continuation of the story from Rob Zombies first film "House of 1000 Corpses", if you jump right in and watch this without watching the first film you might not really understand or even like anything about it.
Anyway like I said, the story carries out from the first film and now the Firefly family finds themselves in trouble from a justice seeking Sherrif.
Dirty, Dark, Brutal, Twisted & Sadistic. Very retro filming, Very awesome directing and very, unequally disturbing.
"The only way to get smarter is by playing a smarter opponent." The Fundamentals of Chess; 1885
Complicated, mad, riveting, ambitious and cunning!
Revolver is a delicious mind-fck of a movie, titherring on the edge of madness and trippyness, switching from your average film photography style to a dark animated cartoon scene and back. Guy Ritchie also inserts a couple of techno-flash film lighting effects that'll leave its vewiers either mesmerized or squinting from eye strain.
Not a lot of people will appreciate its complex screen-story telling. I personally liked the story and thought the script and the actors were brilliant, but was Ritchie testing out a couple of filming tricks with this film? I think so...
I wanted to give this 4 1/2 stars because I did truelly enjoy watching it, the only reason why I slashed off half the star was because I felt like some of the photography techniques didnt mesh well with the story.
Its best to watch with a relaxed mind otherwise youll end up being left behind and confused. I have to say that I really enjoyed shrieking with glee in anticipation of figuring out whos got the 1up on who!
Forget The Matrix, Forget Oceans 11! Do you want to play Russian Roulette? Revolver will definitely blow your brains out!
Watched it last saturday! :D LADIES! DONT LISTEN TO THE CRITICS!! Watch it! Hugh Jackman is siizzzlin hot omg!! lol!! For the silly people who say its pap, aww come on the TITLE says it all!! X-Men Origins. Im not a comic geek, I hardly even watched the X-men cartoons, but this was pretty good. Play whos that mutant with your friends lol! Im a bit disappointed that it didnt even take 2 hours of my time, but ahh, its getting a passing grade from me! 4 stars! Proper review to follow!
