Shrek Forever After (Shrek 4) - Unrated July 29, 2009

Fatal Attraction - R My question is, what did the bunny ever do to Alex to deserve that? Poor liddle wabbit... June 2, 2009

Lisa - PG-13 Yep...a decade before Al Gore created the interweb and anyone had heard the term "cyber stalker" there was this movie. Right after you give your teenaged daughter The Talk, make her sit down and watch this. It should make for a highly relevant afterschool special. May 31, 2009

The Bad Girls From Valley High (A Fate Totally Worse Than Death) - R If you put together Heathers, The Craft and Mean Girls and then subtracted everything that made those movies decent, multiplying the difference by the square root of infinity, you'd end up with this flick.
And poor, poor Christopher Lloyd...how did he get schnuckered into this???

National Lampoon's Spring Break 24/7 - R Yet another reason I wish zero stars was a valid rating. I feel so dirty awarding this half a star. It's really sad when you have to look back and consider Van Wilder one of National Lampoon's crowing achievements of the past 15 years. What the hell was this other than a no budget cockumentary? It was a PG Girls Gone Wild throwback at best. Vapid girls, asshole guys a crap background music track. Thank Christ I saw this for free on flixster and didn't get hornswaggled into buying it. One more hour of my life I'll never see again. May 31, 2009

Breezy - R Are there really women this hopelessly romantic and irritatingly optimistic running around this world? Looking on the bright side of life is one thing...frying your retinas and getting skin cancer from prolonged exposure is another altogether. Otherwise...not a bad flick. May 30, 2009

Bad Girls from Mars - R Wow...there's an hour and a half I'll never get back. May 30, 2009

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - R It's like a crazy cross breed of Rounders, The Color Of Money, Boondock Saints and something else that i can't think of right now. Pretty cool.... May 30, 2009
N/A
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - PG It had a terrific cast all of whom certainly knew where their towels were and should have been fantastic...but as per usual, the book was soooo much better. May 30, 2009
N/A
Killing Zoe - R Not a terrible film...but not an amazing film either. Glad that I was able to watch this on Flixster and Hulu rather than buying the dvd, and for that reason alone I'm goning to give this one more star than it probably deserves. May 30, 2009

Dirty Deeds - PG-13 Guess really hysterical high school comedies like Animal House, Porky's and Revenge of the Nerds are a thing of the past. Now where did I put my way-back machine..... May 26, 2009

Slacker - R It's a bunch of uninteresting people walking around an uninteresting town talking about uninteresting things. It's every day life. I love it... May 25, 2009

Super Size Me - PG-13 There's no doubt this crap is bad for you. There's also no reason to eat 6 Big Macs and a wheel barrow of fries in one sitting. This guy makes some really amazing points, buth on the gluttony of the food industry as well as the gluttony of this society. At the end of the day...common sense has got to prevail. Put the burger down, back away from the computer and go for a walk... May 25, 2009

Fanboys - PG-13 So it FINALLY came out? And I totally missed it?Damn! I saw the trailer on the Clerks 2 dvd over, what, 2 years ago?...and was waiting with breath bordering on bated almost immediately. Every time I looked into it, its release was pushed back. Time to scrounge the disvcount racks at Wal-mart I guess... May 21, 2009

Dune - PG-13 May 10, 2009

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra - PG-13 Hooray!! Another film based on a cartoon based on an action figure. just what the world needs.
Yeeeeah...I'll be there on opening day.

X-Men Origins - Wolverine - PG-13 Before i saw it I said:
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. Who CAN'T wait to see how that turns out?
Now I've seen it and while he WAS great as Deadpool for the whole ten minutes of screen time he had, all in all it wasn't nearly as impressive as i'd hoped. Try to sequeeze in too many characters just to appease the fans and th emovie ends up being too busy and too rushed to really accomplish anything. i mean, i wasn'r expecting to see Logan run around bare-assed with that high-tevch fish bowl on his head, decapitating a grizzly, but a little more savage, mindless Barry Windsor-Smith Wolvie would have been nice.
I mean, I'll stil lend up buying it when it hits the stores...but after the Watchmen flopped, and then rushing out to see this...2009 is not shaping up to be the year of the mind-blowing comic book movie...

Knocked Up - R Sadly, I think most of the funny parts were in the trailer... May 7, 2009

Shrek the Third (Shrek 3) - PG They really should've stopped at two. But hearing John Cleese's voice caught me off guard and ended up making the experience a little less painful. May 7, 2009

Hostel - R Egh. It was better than the half dozen knock-offs that followed. May 7, 2009

Runaway Jury - PG-13 As always, John Cusack kicked ass. May 7, 2009

Big Fish - PG-13 Nothing great to say about this. Nothing too scathing to say either. At least
i can knock it off my want-to-see list...

S. Darko (S Darko: A Donnie Darko Tale) - R To see or not to see...let's see:
Common sense says to steer clear of this. It's probably direct-to-video quality crap existing only to (try to) cash in on the cult-like popularity Donnie found in later years thanks to DVD, while invariably trivializing one of the most incredibly original, profound and perplexing films ever made. I doubt it will solidly answer any of the questions we were all left with when the credits rolled.
But even if it does....would we want the answers? Isn't part of what made Donnie Darko such a unique film was it's inconclusive ending? Unlike most Hollywood productions, the ending didn't tie up all the loose bits in a nice big shiny spoon-fed bow so you leave the theater going, "oh yeah...that makes sense now." Rather, it leaves you kinda scratching your head, WTF-ing, forcing you to form your own conclusions. And then go back and watch it a hundred times more until you think you've finally got it.
Why the hell would anyone want to muck with that?
Plus, it meets almost all of the remaining criteria to help prove the theory that sequels are usually a muy bad idea:
1. direct-to-video release 2. only 1 character/actor returning from the original 3. storyline probably has minimal relevance to the original. 4. created because some soulless studio exec thought it be a great cash cow 4. will cheapen the value of the first.
The only postulate missing is having the number 2 as part of the title.

On the other hand, I like being right and watching this pointless sequel will surely prove me so. Maybe I'll check it out just to know that it was a huge disappointment that should have been aborted fetus-like the second after the idea was ill-conceived. i'm sure it'll find it's way to the five dollar bin at Wal-mart in record time...
