One of my favourite films of all time based on one of my favourite books of all time. True, the adaptation took liberties, but which one doesn't? Dustin Hoffmann's character in the movie e.g. is an amalgamation of several characters in the book, but that only makes sense as something had to be condensed. The film is one of the great escapist movies. It takes its subject seriously and is from a period when there was such a thing as an "adult" action movie and when action heroes could actually act. It's well directed and has a screenplay by Dalton Trumbo that for large parts does not actually depend on dialogue, but on strictly visual narrative. A film that you don't easily forget. Years later you are still bound to vividly remember certain scenes: McQueen's solitary confinement; his escape attempts; staying with the Indian tribe and being able to ogle at the gorgeous girl he picks up there; his never giving up. An amazing movie and a first rate production.
The Spy Who Loved Me

The first Bond movie I ever saw and still one of my absolute Favourites. This one's got it all: amazing action scenes, stunning locations, great dialogue and two of the most amazing Bond Girls ever (Caroline Munro and Barbara Bach). I have seen this movie countless times and I never tire of it.
