Incredibly funny and touching, this is one of the best films of its genre. There are elements of romance, family values, fairytale, comedy, war and politics. It's about fathers and daughters, husbands and wives, families and tradition, people and the land. Fabulous performances from absolutely every actor, with the light and sometimes heartfelt songs, wonderfully contrasts against the muddy cold of a Russia bent on exiling her resident Jews.

This film is a must see; stunning locations and sets, gorgeous music and the tragedy, oh! the tragedy! Beyond beautiful.
